Stainless Steel Tanks Process Equipment stainless steel

tanks serve the processing and storage requirements of customers in virtually all segments of the process industries, including food, chemical, brewing, phar-maceutical and many others. They can be efficiently utilized wherever there is a liquid processing or storage application that re-quires a carefully engineered, quality built tank with a smooth, cling-free, easily cleaned inner surface.

These tanks are made in a range of standard sizes, capacities and designs to meet most customers' specific needs, and are available with dimpled jacket for heat-ing or cooling purposes. For very special requirements, Process Equipment can custom-fabricate stainless steel tanks to precise customer specifications.

Stainless steel tanks are computer designed in a variety of standard capacities and models. Capacities range from 60 to over 23,000 gallons. Models include vertical tanks with open or closed tops and sloping or dished bottoms, plus horizontal tanks.

Standard tanks are rigidly constructed of 16 to 8 gauge, T-304 and T-316 stainless steel. They are available with a choice of finishes ranging from the #4 Deluxe or #2B Economy on Perma-San models to #2B mill finish on Dura-Tek tanks. Surfaces are custom polished to the desired finish by a specially designed precision machine which also perfectly blends all seams to a much finer finish than mill polished sheets.

Jacketed tanks are produced through a unique method which was originated by Process Equipment engineers and which makes possible the widest range of models and sizes of jacketed tanks available today. These tanks can be ordered with polished stainless steel or painted carbon steel outer case with 2" thick fiberglass insulation.

Outlined on these pages are the specific features of the three Process Equipment stainless steel tank lines, Perma-San, Chem-Tek, and Dura-Tek. For detailed tank dimensions and capacities, please refer to specific product bulletins on the individual lines. Agitators and ac-cessories available for use with these tanks are briefly described on subsequent pages.

Fiberglass Reinforced Plash For optimum corrosion resistance in

storage and processing tanks, nothing compares to the fiberglass reinforced plastic tanks produced by Process Equip-ment Corporation. But corrosion resistance is only one prime feature; these tanks also offer users in the chemical and food pro-cessing industries such other important benefits as low cost, minimum mainten-ance and unusually high strength-to-weight ratio.

These fiberglass reinforced plastic tanks are designed for use as vented, atmospheric pressure, above-ground storage and processing vessels. In the Resin-Fab line, there are nine basic styles, including cone-bottom and horizontal tanks, with capacities ranging from 40 to 40,000 gallons.

Filament winding of fiberglass for superior strength and a resin-rich inner surface for smoothness and corrosion resistance are key elements in Process Equipment's multi-layer laminate construc-tion. The four laminated layers are: the thick inner surface of almost pure resin reinforced with chemical resistant glass or organic surface veil; an interior layer of resin with chopped glass roving; the filament wound, continuous-strand glass roving for highest circumferential strength, applied in thicknesses to meet varying structural requirements; a smooth, resin-rich exterior surface for added chemical resistance to spillage.

In the filament winding process, thousands of continuous strands of high-strength fiberglass are impregnated with resin and are wound over a mandrel in a computer controlled helical pattern for superior strength. After curing, this forms a hard, homogenous tank shell with a flexural and tensile strength much greater than can be achieved through hand lay-up — plus a strength-to-weight ratio greater than that of steel.

Plastic compounds used in these fiber-glass reinforced tanks include USDA and FDA approved polyester and vinyl ester resins or a number of other resin systems most suitable for the individual customer requirement.

Shown on these pages is some basic information on the Resin-Fab and Lok-Fab lines of fiberglass reinforced plastic tanks. For more detailed data on these tanks, please refer to bulletins on the specific tank lines. Condensed information on agitators and accessories for use with these tanks is given on the following pages.

Lok-Fab fiberglass reinforced plastic tanks make Process Equip-ment's filament wound, multi-layer laminate construction available in tanks too large to be shipped by the usual methods. In the past, large fiberglass tanks were limited to hand lay-up or winding in the field under less than ideal conditions. Now Lok-Fab makes it possi-ble to wind the tanks in the factory under rigid quality control conditions —and simply cut the tank into sections for field assembly.

At the site, the precision-cut Lok-Fab sections are smoothly and per-manently fused with patented fiberglass locking panels. The completed, on-site-assembled Lok-Fab tank offers all the same basic construction benefits as Resin-Fab fiberglass reinforced plastic tanks.
