MatShop offers matboard to fill whatever need you may have. For bulk matting or personal projects that need to be cost-effective, both our Essentials (limited colors) and Regular (broad color range) lines fulfill this need. For those who desire long-lasting protection, our Conservation and Rag matboards can offer a gallery look with the preservation of a museum. 8 Ply mats add extra flair to a piece with dramatic, thick cores. All mats are cut with a bevel opening.

Our Essentials line is the lowest priced matboard that we carry. It features an acid-free cream core and backing paper and comes in 7 popular colors.

Suitable for posters, inexpensive prints, photos, scrapbooking, and volume items.

Regular MatboardRegular matboard is the standard non-archival consumer matboard. It is buffered to be pH neutral (acid-free) and, while not of conservation quality, it will provide 10-15 years of protection to your artwork.

It is an excellent choice for reproduced artwork or personal photos. The standard core color of regular matboard is cream, but black and white cores are a popular alternative.

Conservation & Rag MatboardConservation: Our conservation matboard is manufactured by Artique. It is chemically-treated to be acid- and lignin*-free. This matboard meets conservation matting standards. It is ideal for limited-edition prints and valued artwork.

Rag: Also known as cotton matboard. It is comprised of cotton fibers and is naturally acid- and lignin-free. Rag mats will provide you with the highest standard of preservation for your artwork. Recommended for highly-valued, original, or rare pieces.

Why the Double Mat Program?

We take the cut-outs from openings in large mats and use them as outer mats in smaller sizes. Consequently, we can sell these double mats at a reduced price.

Additionally, with every mat purchased in the Double Mat Program you will receive a re-sealable poly bag and manila board backing free.

One sports mat package consists of 18 double mats each with 2 openings and 1 of 9 sports graphics. The outer mat is #CSB80 Snow and the inner mat is a stock color of your choice. Dimensions are as follows:

Standard or Conservation?Conservation glazing comes with UV protection (up to 97%). This protects against the harmful light that will fade your artwork and mats. The extra cost of conservation glazing may not be necessary if all other components are not conservation.

Clear or Non-Glare?This is a matter of preference and location. If you have an overhead light or a window in front, reflections might be a problem. Non-glare diffuses the light, but can give a matte or hazy look.



OTHERSUPPLIESBackings

FoamcoreFoamcore is an excellent lightweight product for framing, mounting, or simply as backing in a poly bag. Foamcore has a solid core and is very rigid making it useful for a wide variety of projects. Regular white foamcore has a semi-glossy finish. Black and Acid-Free (off-white) foamcore have a matte finish.

CardboardOur cardboard backing is corrugated with one white side. It is about 3/16 thick. It provides an economical option for all mat sizes.

The corrugated inside is visible and may detract from certain presentations.

FlawboardFlawboard is flawed matboard. Commonly it is off-white and slightly damaged on one or both sides. Occasionally, however, it comes in a variety of colors or textures. Flaws are typically quite minimal.

ManilaManila is about half the thickness of regular 4ply matboard. It has a smooth white finish on one side and is an excellent low-cost choice for sizes 11 x 14 and smaller. Great for use in a poly bag.

Photo CornersAcid-free photo mounts are trans-parent and pressure-sensitive. Designed for photos, cards, paper items, scrapbooking, and more.

Easel BacksOur easel backs use matboard to produce a sturdy, economical easel. We typically use a white, non-archival matboard with a slight texture. Thickness is 1/16. Available without peel-away adhesive as well. Ships flat in shrink-wrapped bundles although orders over 500 may be packaged loose.

Complete Frame SetsOur flexible frame packages come with everything you need to get your artwork framed and on the wall in minutes.

Poly BagsHigh quality, clear plastic bags are an excellent way to present a matted work.

Our bags are thicker than shrink wrap material; they can withstand punishment and will not warp due to varying humidity changes. When two sizes are available, use the larger for thick backings such as cardboard or foamcore.

Please note that all poly bags have the adhe-sive strip on the bag, not on the flap. Perfect for hassle-free removal of your artwork.

Mat Dimensions

Get the exact mea-surements for your piece.

Subtract 1/4 from each side. This pre-vents it from falling through the mat. This is your opening size.

Add at least a 1 1/2 border to your original dimensions and up to 5 for larger pieces. This is your mat size.

When using more than one mat, choose a reveal size (typically 3/16 or 1/4). Decide on extras such as bottom-weights.

If you choose not to purchase frames immediately, standard sizes can help reduce costs and make finding a matching frame easier at a later date.

Framing Info

Frame sizes are measured from the inside. Moulding width is extrado not add this to your dimensions. See moulding pages for individual widths.

Frame Dimensions

Wood, synthetic, and regular metal frames come with assembly instructions. Assembling a frame is quick and simple. Tools needed include: a hammer for sawtooth hangers; a Phillips screwdriver for hanging wire or metal frame plates; an awl or sharp, pointed tool for d-rings (hanging wire); and wire cutters or pliers to prune extra wire. Further instructions can be found online (www.matshop.com or www.matshop.ca) or with your frames.

With the exception of regular (contract) metal frames, all frames ship assembled. All frames come with appropriate hardware (below), and wood and synthetic frames ship with flexible framing points pre-inserted. These flex points are very durable and can be bent many times without issue. Unless requested, associated backings and mats that you may have ordered will not be inserted into frames.

Choose your items. Browse the catalogue and jot down all products (and numbers if available) that you wish to purchase (use the included order form for easy reference).

Make necessary measurements. If needed, consult our matting and framing information pages and note all measurements.1

Ordering Steps

Order! Place your order via the method of your choice. If you require assistance, our customer service representatives can give you extra guidance. Please have as much information as possible ready. A ruler or tape measure on hand is also highly recommended.

Meet the minimum. As MatShop is a wholesale company, we have minimum order requirements. All orders under $50 (not including shipping) will have a $10 small order fee applied. This does not apply to samples. In addition, we require that at least 5 of each item is ordered.

Ordering Methods

Match appropriate materials. If you are ordering conservation mats, you will need to use conservation materials such as acid-free backing and tape.3Acrylic or glass? If you require glazing, please note that MatShop can only ship glass in sizes 11x14 or smaller due to its fragile nature. Acrylic can be shipped in any size. 4

We accept Visa and MasterCard for orders placed through our website. In addition, for orders placed over the telephone, we accept American Express, checks, and money orders. Orders will not be shipped until receipt of payment. A $30 service charge will be levied on NSF checks.

Payment Options

Payment Costs & MethodsFreight charges are in addition to product purchased. We take great care in our packaging and handling to ensure your order arrives to you safely. For US orders, we ship FOB Blaine, WA. Your order will be shipped via UPS Ground Service unless otherwise specified. UPS Ground delivers to the West Coast in approximately 2 to 3 business days and orders to the East Coast will take approximately 6-7 days.

For orders in Canada, we ship directly from our warehouse in Victoria, BC. We ship via Canpar, or Canada Post.

INFORMATION MatShop Policies

The following policies have been established to ensure efficiency and consistency in our services. Please ensure that you carefully review MatShops terms and conditions before placing your order. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the terms and conditions set forth below, please contact our customer service department at 1-800-663-7501.

Payment Credits

In the event that payment credits result, credits will be maintained on your account for 12 months to be applied to a future purchase, refunds will not be issued.

Minimum Order

Our minimum order is $50. Orders for less than $50 will be charged a $10 small order fee. Additionally, as a wholesaler, we require that a minimum quantity of 5 identical mats or frames be ordered.

Custom Order Authorization

Custom orders must be approved by the customer before the order will be processed. A layout of the design, indicating dimensions and details of your order, will be faxed or emailed to you for review and approval. Once approved custom orders are non-refundable.

Handling and Insurance

MatShop personally ensures that your product will reach you in good condition and will replace damaged product at no charge. We take great care in our packaging to avoid damage in transport. We charge a $5.50 handling fee that helps us ensure that you receive your goods undamaged.

Changes to your Order

All additions, deletions, or changes must be made within 24 hours of placing your order.

* All products are custom cut to your specifications. There are no returns on custom products.* Returns are offered on incorrect or defective product only.* Returns will not be accepted without a Return Authorization number. (see important instructions below)* MatShop does not offer refunds.* For authorized returns, credits toward future purchases will be issued for returned products within 15 business days of receiving complete return information.*Credits will be maintained on your account for 12 months.*Customers returning product are responsible to ensure sufficient packaging so that the product does not arrive damaged.

FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW IF YOU RECEIVE INCORRECT OR DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE.

Once received, please carefully inspect your order. Notification of defective or incorrect merchandise must be made within 5 days of receiving your product and a request for an RMA Return Merchandise Authorization must be requested within that time. Returns of defective or incorrect product will be replaced within 30 days
