    InTRODUCTIOn

COAGULAnT Pology Chemical Plant ALC is a Ukraine-based chemical enterprise engaged in development and industrial adaptation of modern technologies in the field of water and wastewater treatment using reagents of its own production.

The company also provides a full range of special purpose chemical products used in the process of thickening and dewatering of sludge, in treatment of industrial circulating water in open and closed cooling systems etc.

Reagents of our production are used in various industries: food, chemical, metallurgical, oil and petrochemical, pulp and paper, as well as in municipal water treatment and purification of domestic wastewater.

In 2014 COAGULAnT launched production of Reagents for Special Water Use under the ITS WATER trademark (license from FEEDWATER LTD., UK). These reagents are specifically designed for reliable and trouble-free operation of the following system types:

    •Coolingsystems(closedandopentype); •Waterheatingsystemsandboilerequipment; •Systemsofmembranetechnologies.

ITS WATER™ reagents are manufactured in accordance with TECHNICAL SPECIFICTIONS (UKRAINE) 20.5-03327724-011:2014, TECHNICAL SPECIFICTIONS (UKRAINE) 20.5-03327724-012:2014, and have endorsement from the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Expertise of The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine.

    1 OPEn COOLInG SySTEMS

One of the applications of the ITS WATER™ reagents is to ensure the efficient and uninterrupted operation of circulating cooling systems.

Circulating water supply is the most advanced and cost-effective method of water supply to enterprises, which helps to maximize the preservation of natural water resources.

Organizationofthecirculatingopen-typecoolingsystemimpliesuseofheatexchangeequipmentwith the replenishment of the evaporated water volume from an external source.

Typical problems that arise during operation of open cooling systems are corrosion, fouling and scale formations which occur in heat exchange and pipeline systems.

To ensure the efficient and uninterruptedoperationof equipment in open cooling systems it isrecommended to use ITS WATER™ chemical reagents which maintain a stable water chemistry regime, namely non-oxidizing and oxidizing biocides, anti-foaming agents and complex chemicals based on organic compounds.

    2 CLOSED COOLInG SySTEMS

    Thereisarangeofhighrequirementsforbiologicalandchemicalwaterpurityinbothclosedand open water cooling systems.

The formation of scale is not a big problem in closed systems, since due to negligible losses in these systems the volume of water is practically unchanged, and in a completely closed system none of the known scale forming substances precipitates and prevents heat transfer.

However, if water in a closed system is contaminated by microorganisms or contains dissolved oxygen, corrosionandtheformationofdifferenttypesofdepositsonequipmentsurfacescanoccur.

ITS WATERTM reagents (biocides, reagents for removing dissolved oxygen, antiscalants, dispersants and others) are designed specifically for solving problems which are typical for closed water cooling systems.

    4 MEMBRAnE SySTEMS

Membrane filtration technologies are most effective in water treatment. They allow potable water to be produced from surface and underground sources with a high degree of purification from impurities and microorganisms. In case of municipal sewage treatment, membrane filtration technologies allow suitable technical water to be produced and in case of industrial water treatment circulated water is obtained.

The membranes used in the processes of water and wastewater treatment can be classified into micro-, ultra-, nano- and hyper filtration (i.e., reverse osmosis) depending on the size of the pores and impurities detained.

Unlike the traditional methods (mechanical filtration, physico-chemical treatment, decontamination),whichrequirea largeterritory,a largenumberofstaffandhighoperatingcosts, membrane technologies have a number of advantages:

    •compactnessoftheequipmentandsimplicityofthepowerscaleup; •reliablebarrierfiltrationandsufficientlylowpowerconsumption; •abilitytoprovidefullautomatizationofwatertreatmentprocessesandqualitycontrol.

However, for efficient use of membrane technologies and to maximize production capabilities, it is necessary to carry out a continuous treatment by ITS WATERTM antiscalant and biocide reagents, which will inhibit the formation of mineral and biological deposits in the pores of the membranes.

Ifantiscalantsandbiocideshavenotbeenpreviouslyusedonthemembraneequipment, itisrecommended to use ITS WATERTM cleaners prior to commissioning.
