Product Development & Dissemination
Hello!
I am so glad you are here!

AGENDA
• Our Localization Process for Product Development
• Some Successful Dissemination Avenues and Strategies
• Questions…
11
12
24 people with disabilities, parents, siblings, grandparents who:• Provide 1:1 emotional,
informational and systems navigational support to 5,200+ families each year
• Disseminate over 20,000 products each year
47% White/Caucasian29% Black/African American10% Hispanic10% Other/Unknown4% Asian
Two .50 FTE video/social media specialists
We can probably all agree that…• The demographics of our communities are
constantly changing;• Not having adequately translated and available
materials increases healthcare disparities ;• The end users of traditionally translated products
are passive recipients of the information with no input into the cultural adaptation of these materials; and
• Not having translated materials hurts relationships between schools/agencies and parents.

“Localization and…Analyzing the semantics in a language to make sure the right thing is said as well as making sure the product “works” functionally and linguistically in the intended culture (Lionbridge, 2012).
Relevantly takes into account the customs, traditions, information preferred formats, and the rules of the country for which the information is intended.
14
Translation is a sub-task of localization
