Making caries diagnosis easier

The Logicon software extracts image features and compares them to a database of known caries problems. Possible anomalies are thus marked automatically on the digital dental radiography images, allowing the dental surgeon to investigate the affected tooth and the tooth surface in more detail.

Functionality

The Logicon software uses recognition algorithms based on laboratory data created in collaboration with a leading dental medicine institute. It automatically flags potential lesions on dental images and shows changes to the tooth density and the probability of lesions.

Communicator Patient Software helps dentist communicate, educate and gain informed consent. It includes a library of 140 animated sequences, 2000 still images and over 100 patient leaflets.


● Covers 167 animated topics - most conditions and procedures a dentist will deal with on a day-to-day basis

● Uses animations because being visual, they help the patient quickly understand what is being explained

● The animations last a maximum of a minute which speeds up the explanation time in the surgery

● An `interactive’ tool, where dentist can pause, skip forward/back and run the animations in slow motion controlling the speed of delivery to suit each patient

● No voice-overs, which means the dentist can use the appropriate language for each patient to ensure they understand.

● Includes 117 patient information leaflets which can be printed or emailed to the patient so they have information to support the explanation provided in the surgery

● The patient information leaflets are produced in MS Word, so they can be edited and branded to the practice

● The program includes over 2000 clinical photo-graphs, but the dentist can add their own so they can show examples of work they have carried out in their practice

● The program also records which animations, leaflets and photos have been shown to the patient and this information can be printed or pasted into electronic PMS systems. This provides Medico-Legal protection for the dentist
