Section 2: Installation Instructions

Step 1: Remove Stock Bumper

A. Remove the spare from the rear tire mount. Even if you’re not installing the MetalCloak Tire Carrier, this will give you some additional room to work.

B. If you are installing the Tire Carrier, use a 13mm Socket to remove the stock Spare Tire Mount Bracket.

C. You can leave the stock Rubber Bumpers installed; keeping these holes plugged will help keep water out of your tailgate.

D. Disconnect the third brake light and stow the wires, or relocate if desired. You may need to open the trunk door and go through the panel to get to the wire.

Section 2: Installation Instructions

Step 1: Remove Stock Bumper

E. Use a 16mm Socket to remove the stock screws from the outside frame rail. Save this hardware.

F. Also remove the stock screws that are tucked up behind the muffler. You only need to remove the upper screw to get the bumper off, but to prevent future rattling we recommend you remove the entire bracket.

G. Remove the stock plastic bumper and set aside.

H. If you have the stock rear Tow Hook, use a 3/4” Socket to remove the 3 stock screws and set aside all components.

J. re-install the stock hardware in the front two holes. Only finger-tighten hardware at this point.

K. Install the provided 1/2”-13 Socket Cap Screws with both a Flat Washer and Lock Washer. Again, only finger-tighten.

L. Align your End Caps on the Rear Bumper Base. Install a 1/2”-13 x 1.25” Button Cap Screw through the bottom hole into the Weld Nut [L1]. If you are NOT using the Extreme Rear Bumper Mounts, you can also install a 1/2”-13 x 1.25” Button Cap Screw backed by a Hex Flange Nut through the top holes at this time [L2].

Note: The [L2] reference shows a bolt in the upper position on a Tire Carrier version of the MetalCloak Frame-Built Rear Bumper, but this is for reference purposes only. The Tire Carrier version of the Bumper should use the Extreme Rear Frame Mounts, and so this bolt will not be installed yet.
