Spectral Efficiency

InfiNet Wireless products are designed to maximise the throughput

across a minimum of spectrum

this avoids or diminishes interference within a crowded spectrum

allows denser packing of channels around a mast area

InfiLINK 2x2, InfiMAN 2x2

Spectral efficiency 6+ bit/s/Hz

Real throughput up to

240 Mbps @ 40 MHz and

105 Mbps @ 20 MHz

Page 11: Product Overview Presentation - · PDF fileCost-effective alternative to legacy microwave links Multiple E1/T1 TDM & IP/Ethernet transport MIMO based technology Applications Redundant

OFDM

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) “spread spectrum” technique distributes data over a large number of carriers that are spaced apart at precise frequencies.

This spacing provides the “orthogonality” prevents the demodulators from seeing frequencies other than their own, thus reducing dispersion errors and improving transmission and spectral efficiency

Benefits of InfiNet’s

OFDM Technology

Less prone to distortion through multipath support

High spectral efficiency

Better resiliency to RF interference

Supports improved transmission in non-line-of-sight applications

Page 12: Product Overview Presentation - · PDF fileCost-effective alternative to legacy microwave links Multiple E1/T1 TDM & IP/Ethernet transport MIMO based technology Applications Redundant

MIMO

MIMO is the use of multiple antennas at both the transmitter and receiver to improve

communication performance

Data is sent on both a horizontal and vertical polarisation (see following slides)

Data is space-time coded (spatial multiplexing) to improve the reliability of

data transmission

InfiNet MIMO 2x2 technology effectively doubles spectrum efficiency: real

throughput is up to 240 Mbps @ 40 Mbps and 105 Mbps @ 20 Mbps

Benefits of InfiNet’s

MIMO Technology

Improved received signal strength

Allocated carrier frequency can be used twice, enabling double throughput data rate on clean LOS links

Vastly improved availability on difficult-LOS and NLOS links: MIMO 2x2 offers one of the best-in-class NLOS capabilities

TDD - Time Division Duplex

TDD or Time-Division Duplex (TDD) is the technology that defines

the way that outward and return signals are separated.

It allows full duplex communication on the same frequency channel.

Classical TDD systems (Exalt, Orthogon) allow only fixed ratio for

incoming/outgoing dataflows (50:50, 30:60, etc.).

Some systems (e.g. Winlink and most microwaves) allow fixed 50:50

ratio only without the capability to alter ratios

Other TDD systems can be statistically adjusted from the base ratios.

InfiNet’s implementation is based on “Dynamic TDD" principles

Adaptive TDD+polling, block ACK/ARQ

Input/output ratio changes dynamically, giving bandwidth to the

direction where it is needed.

Important for inherently asymmetrical applications like backhaul for

CCTV/Video.

Automatic Rate Control

Autobitrate (Automatic Rate Control) Functionality

Functionality allows the device to maintain optimal rate in

given environmental conditions (signal levels, retries, errors

on the link)

Rate control algorithm is proactive: it changes the rate

before any data gets lost

Equivalent to AMOD functionality from other vendors

Ltest Algorithm Performs Active Channel Testing

Before switching real traffic to another bitrate, it sends

a series of test packets to ensure a consistent fit for

actual data.

Features radio interference mitigation

Increases efficiency in noisy environments

Built-in spectrum analyzer

noise floor and RSSI

Implementation of DFS and radar detection algorithms, compliant

with US and European regulation (ETSI EN 302 502 ver.1.2.1; EN

301 893 ver.1.5.1, FCC rules part 15.407)

Supports co-existence with other Point-to-Multipoint products
