The Enginetech Rebuilder’s Pistons

The Rebuilders piston from Enginetech is the right piston for our customers. The piston meets or exceeds OEM standards of metallurgy and quality. Our engineers thoroughly research engine design, operation, rebuilding in our customer shops and our own test facilities to develop a piston that works best for the rebuilder. You can not buy a better-quality piston for any production application for the price.

• Decked Pistons - Most are decked 0.010” to 0.020” to compensate for oversized bores and head/deck milling.

• Size Grading - Pistons in each set are matched and are clearly marked. You are assured of proper clearance without measuring, grading, or hand fitting.

• Precision - Cast and Machined Chambers - State-of-the-art machining and superior cast finishes give a professional appearance and help prevent pre-ignition and eliminate rough edges and hot spots.

• Precise Machining - Pistons are diamond-turned rather than ground to assure exact size, precise skirt profile and superior finish which are critical to good scuff resistance during break-in and overall endurance.

• Fitted Wrist Pins - Wrist pins are cold forged for strength and grade fitted to each piston to assure proper pin to pin bore clearances. Many Enginetech pins are .0005” oversized to compensate for wear in the small end of the connecting rods. Electronic gauging of the pin and pin bore clearances assures control of exact clearances.

• State-of-the-Art Materials - We offer cast aluminum, hypereutectic, and forged applications. Treatments such as skirt coatings, anodized heads and NI-resist inserts are used as required.

• Compensated Ring Grooves - Grooves are machined to a constant depth insuring consistent ring back clearance, reducing blow-by and oil consumption, lengthening ring life.

• Sophisticated Designs - Each set is engineered for the application. Tapered face and reverse twist are used in the intermediate groove for most passenger cars and truck sets for maximum oil control in stop and go driving. The tapered face ensures instant seating of the intermediate groove rings.

• Oil control Ring Design - Enginetech uses more than one type of expander for the oil ring based upon ease of installation and to help prevent overlapping during assembly. Enginetech oil ring assemblies include designs such as SS-50, PC-98, Wire Latch & Flex Vent.

• Packaging - Enginetech utilizes superior packaging. Each ring set is clearly labeled in its own compartment, top groove, second groove and bottom groove. Our rings are also marked with a dot or letter size markings indicating which side is up, helping accuracy of installation.

Rods, Mains and Camshaft Bearings

The Rebuilder’s Rods, Mains and Camshaft Bearings from Enginetech combine exacting OE standards. Top Quality rod, main, and cam bearings are engineered for the rebuilding industry to help save time and money.

• Bearing Design - Our rod and main bearings are designed with optimal “crush” to improve bearing tangential pre-load for remanufactured engines. Crush helps prevent bearing rotation and insure proper heat transfers.

• Controlled Eccentricity - Controlled Eccentricity on rod and main bearings is designed into every application, creating a hydrodynamic wedge which insures proper oil thickness between bearing and crankshaft.

• 100% Inspection - In addition to a statistical inspection process performed at Enginetech, every bearing is inspected at the manufacturing level to conform to Enginetech’s high quality standards. It must meet rigid size, shape and quality of finish specifications.

Rods, Mains and Camshaft Bearings

• Full Round Precision Cam Bearings - The Enginetech camshaft bearings are manufactured with consistent edge chamfers which facilitates ease installation. Enginetech camshaft bearings are manufactured as a “Full Round” design. Our bearings are produced from extruded steel tubes with a centrifugally cast Babbitt lining. Several different grades of Babbitt are used depending on applications. Engines with inherent OE problems of bearing wiping and/or fatiguing utilize a high grade ASTM-14 material. Enginetech is also an industry leader in the design and development of “Problem Solver” cam bearings. Many OE engines have pre-mature bearing failures (Chrysler 3.3/3.8L, GM 3.1/3.4L, Ford 2.3L SOHC, Ford 460 etc.). These bearings include 0.010” undersized I.D. for re-ground cam journals, we also have grooved O.D. and HD alloys bearings. Enginetech offers “Better than OE” bearings with improved designs and up-graded materials for many problematic applications.

Rods, Mains and Camshaft Bearings

Enginetech bearings solve many problems. One example is the oversize O.D. rod bearings for the small block Chevrolet and also for the late style powdered metal “cracked” rods in the modular Ford. These allow reconditioning of the rod without machining the parting surfaces. Also we have modified the crush relief area to reduce oil flow to meet the standards of certain test equipment. For bearings that meet Enginetech's high standard of quality and value along with excellent service and technical support, the customer needs The Rebuilder Bearing.

• Superior Materials - With a superior fatigue strength, they stand up under high loading. Conformability works smoothly and will last, even when there is a slight mis-alignment between shaft and bearing. Embeddability absorbs abrasive material so it will not scratch the shaft, resisting seizing during start up. Most of our rod and main bearings are made with the most advance Aluminum-Silicone alloys used in the industry today.

Exhaust ValvesThe Enginetech Valve products are another example of Enginetech's high quality

standards and cost reducing products to help the rebuilder save time and money. We offer three valve lines, the Rebuilder Valve, Standard Valves and Performance Valves.

• The Rebuilder Valve - Is a specially designed to relieve the bottleneck in the customers cylinder head department . The rebuilder valve will eliminate the need to clean, inspect and regrind old valves, for the cost of reclaiming junk old valves you can install rebuilder valves, saving time and money. The customer can increase cylinder head sales by claiming all new premium valves in their remanufactured heads.

• Head Diameter - The head diameter of the rebuilder valve is 0.010” to 0.030” oversized depending on the application. For badly worn seats the increased head diameter allows less seat machining, which reduces replacements.

• Eliminate Guide Replacement - The rebuilder valve stem diameters are oversized 0.008” to 0.0015” depending on the application. You need only one valve guide reamer per engine because unlike our competitor’s valve we make the valve fit the reamer rather then making reamers fit the valve. With only one reamer you get the correct oil clearance on both intake and exhaust valves. No guide replacement or liner installation required.

• Reclaim More Springs and Eliminate Spring Shims - Valve springs will weaken over time, in the past rebuilders would install shims to bring reclaimed spring boost valve seat pressure back to normal. The rebuilder valve has a lowered keeper groove from 0.020” to 0.030” towards the valve head, spring pressure is automatically boosted, making shims obsolete.

• Replacement Standard Valves - The standard replacement valves are the quality leader. All Enginetech valves are produced with OE grade material or better, with our face run-out and stem finish they are the best in the industry. Enginetech’s valve stem and tip finishes of standard, rebuilder and performance valves are finished to 17RMS, far lower than the industry standard of 22 to 28 RMS.

• Superior Material on Intake Valves - Our Intake valves are better than OE. Our one piece construction intake valves are made from HNV-3 alloy (often used in exhaust valves) and all of our valve stems are either triple plated chrome or gas nitrided. We even go a step further and harden every valve tip to 50HRC minimum.

• Superior Material on Exhaust Valves - Our Exhaust valves are also a one piece design and are made from EV-8 or EV-12 stainless steel. Like the intake valves they are also triple plated chrome or gas nitrided and have a harden tip to 50HRC minimum.

• Performance Replacement Valves - The performance valves are also made to the high standard of Enginetech valves, with swirl polish finishes and made out of finest grade materials as Stellite and Inconel. They cover all of the rebuilder needs of a engine valve.

Stem SealEnginetech’s high quality valve stem seals are available in three

categories, Premium positive , Premium Umbrella and OE.

• Premium Positive Seals - These seals are metal clad with high-temp Viton © elastomeric sealing lips and are good up to 400 °, also13 P/N’s cover 90% of all applications. Premium Positive seals are designed to work with valve stems from 0.005” under to 0.015” over, most of these can be used as a universal fit on normal guide sizes such as 0.482”, 0.512”, 0.530”, 0625” etc. Stem diameters range from 8.00 to 3/8”.

• Premium Umbrella Seals - These seals are high-temp silicone with garter springs to retain stem interference and are good up to 400 °, also 8 P/N’s cover 90% of all applications. Premium Umbrella seals are designed to work with valve stems from 0.005” under to 0.015” over, most of these seals can be used as a universal fit on normal stem sizes such as 8.00mm, 5/16, 11/32 and 3/8.

Stem Seal

• OE Type Seals - These seals are designed as a direct replacement for the OE part. The OE type seals are recommended for standard OE diameter valve stems. Enginetech only uses OE type materials for these seals including Viton ©, polyacrylate and nylon. The OE type seal comes in Umbrella,Positive Tophat, Positive Ring & Band and Metal Clad. Enginetech has it covered with a full line of OE valve stem seals.

Enginetech’s Fire Seal Technology Gaskets help the customers build better engines faster. Rather than duplicating OE designs, The Rebuilders Gasket set is designed specifically for the rebuilder. They accommodate the kinds of surfaces you have to work with, without comebacks or leaks.

• Consolidation - Enginetech‘s consolidation means fewer numbers to accurately cover more engines. Enginetech engineers spend hours of research with new and used blocks, to develop gasket and seal sets that really seal while reducing the number of sets needed for similar engines. For example, one set covers all 350 Chevrolet engines through 85’, and two sets cover all Buick 231/181 non-turbo engines from 79’ to 87’. This means keeping less inventory. • Superior Design and Materials - Enginetech engineers analyzed the special sealing problems of each engine covered, and designed the gaskets and seals that would work best in each part of the engine. Thermal shock dyno testing verifies the design excellence. Unlike OE designs, the Rebuilder's Gasket is designed for and works better on rebuilt engines. Individual gaskets are die cut from the right material in the right thickness for each application, and have elastomeric sealing beads in critical areas.

• Head gaskets are no-retorque with virtually no loss in clamping force over time, perforated to eliminate material separation and leakage and are coated with a premium silicone blend to allow head-to-block movement and easy removal, we also utilize the latest MLS design gaskets. Precise thickness gives predictable sealing, fire rings are oversize (for oversize bores), and elastomeric sealing beads meet special sealing needs.

• Valve cover gaskets have the proper thickness for optimum sealing. They seal, are durable, have a long shelf life, and are flexible to withstand rough handling during installation without breaking. One piece molded rubber gaskets are used in late applications where critical sealing is a must.

• Pan gaskets are made in the right thickness to seal best on sheet metal without splitting. Again, they are durable, flexible, and have a long shelf life. Also, one piece rubber molded pan gaskets are available for late model engines.

• Intake gaskets are designed to prevent vacuum leaks and withstand high temperatures from exhaust crossover heat on V-type engines. They are embossed or have raised elastomeric beads to give high unit pressure and superior sealing on narrow flanges. In several applications, a heat-sensitive coating provides a positive seal once the engine is run.

• Superior PackagingThe easy-to-learn part number is highly visible regardless of which way the gaskets are stocked. A complete, easy to read bill of materials is on the label. The head gasket(s) can be easily removed without opening the complete package, therefore the rebuilder can use the head gasket(s) and send the balance of the set to the installer still sealed. The gaskets are divided into subsets, thus the smaller, more fragile components are protected from damage or folding. Where needed simplified installation instructions and technical information are included. The easy to read instructions promote a better quality of workmanship by the installer and prevents costly mistakes. Enginetech timing components offer the engine remanufacturer the following advantages:

• Enginetech Camshafts - Camshafts are manufactured in the U.S. at OE facilities using strict SPC data to ensure a quality product every time. Metallurgy testing is performed throughout the manufacturing process from casting to finish grinding and induction hardening.

• Camshaft Selection - Enginetech Camshafts have a wide selection from popular stock applications , heavy duty RV cams and select high performance cams. We have a large stock of both domestic and import camshafts.

• Camshaft Break in Additive - ZDDP (Zinc Di-Alkyl-Dithio-Phosphate)anti-wear chemistry is required in all engine oils to protect valve train components and other metal surfaces from wearing. Today’s passenger car engine oils do not contain enough ZDDP for proper engine protection during the break-in process. Enginetech’s ZDDP provides the additional protection that your remanufactured engine needs. Enginetech’s ZDDP is super concentrated so that only a small amount is needed to treat your oil for new cam break-in. The Enginetech Cylinder Sleeves

The complete line of Enginetech Cylinder Repair Sleeves is available for all popular sizes and assorted lengths.

• Every cylinder sleeve is carefully cast using the centrifugal casting method. Centrifugal casting assures that every sleeve is produced with a homogenous material resulting in a high quality product every time.

• Enginetech repair sleeve is designed and produced with a semi-finished ID that allows the machinist to remove at least 0.025” of material during the boring and honing process. Each repair sleeve is chamfered at the bottom OD edge for ease of installation into the engine block.

.• Enginetech also offers popular High Performance cylinder sleeves. Our HP sleeves are centrifugally cast from a premium formula that yields higher hardness (293 BHN) and higher tensile strength (45000 PSI).

• Cylinder sleeves are individually packaged in it’s own protective box and is wrapped in rust preventative paper for improved shelf life.

Thread Repair KitsEnginetech "Time Sert" and "Big Sert" thread repair kits solve the problem once

and for all. They utilize solid bushing inserts that are easy to install and will accept and maintain as much or more torque as the original threaded hole. All Warranty issues are referred to the Engineering department.The Official Enginetech Warranty policy is: Enginetech will replace any product that is found to be defective in material our

workmanship for the life of the engine by our Engineering team or its designate when parts are returned to us prepaid freight.

It must be installed by a professional installer. Due to the nature of high performance and racing applications, Enginetech shall not,

under any circumstances, be liable for any special, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind from the purchase, installation or it use of any Enginetech product in a high performance engine or in any vehicle used for racing purposes.

Enginetech will not be liable for claims regarding labor, consequential damages or any claimed loss other than replacement of defective product.
