Production Log-Double Page Spread

To create a back ground image for my double page spread I began with screen shots from my main media

product.

The chosen images I have selected are from the

events which lead up to the climax this was to ensure that none of the exciting scenes were seen before hand, this would draw

readers into watching the film to see how “Sophia”

was killed.

As well as this I have chosen to uses either a image of just “Sophia” this was to highlight the main character and also

because of the angle and position of the camera for this shot. The angle in which the camera is at gives the idea

that “Sophia” is being watched and she can see

herself but is unaware of what could be following her.

In contrast I have chosen the option of using a image of

both the antagonist and the protagonist. This was because the split screen shot in both pictures give the impression “Kwame” is watch “Sophia”.

After taking into consideration my

findings in my research of similar

media products I have chosen to us the

image of “Sophia” alone in the mirror

showing her reflection. The

reasons being it is part of the codes and

conventions used in similar media formats

to leave some anonymity to the

killer/stalker in both teen horrors and

thrillers. As well as this the image

supports the events leading up to

“Sophia's” killing as she remains un aware of any dangers till the end of the film, this will be identifiable

with both those who have watch the film and those who are

due to watch the film.

To develop the initial screen shot of the film to the background image i had a look at similar products. My findings concluded that many had effects to enhance

and convey a sense of anticipation and a feeling of uncertainly.

Using the transferable skills I acquired in AS I altered the blending mode of the image once I had a look at the different various I chose the “Linear Light” mode

to give the desired saturation. I then went on to adjust the saturation and light further till I reached the

favoured filter.

The use of the sepia filter with the hard light mode give a similar effect to a fire holding the connotations “Sophia” will soon get burn and be in danger. As well as the altering of the saturation on the figure is convey the idea that any young person can be the victim of an online or Stanger stalker this emphasises the moral of the original fable “Appearances are deceptive”.

After this I changed the format of my image to be exported into InDesign. Once there with the use of columns I inserted my text by using the text tool and placing the text.

The extended text I used the flow tool to position them in the second column.

The finished text was aligned and

ran smoothly into the 2nd column this

followed the conventions of a

real media text by using

columns and having a unified

formant. Sticking to the codes and conventions of real media texts with a

similar audience to my own I went on to http://www.dafont.com/ to get modern and youthful

fonts. The main fonts I used were “Corbel” http://www.dafont.com/cor

http://www.dafont.com/corbel.font bel.font I used “Madman howling” http://www.dafont.com/madman-howling.font which is the text font for my Film poster as a way of the audience relating to the two text, for instant when seeing the poster after reading

the review it will in turn cause them to remember the film and its storyline and want to watch the film. The use of the other fonts

was to create an in house style which would also allow for a regular reader to identify with the magazine.

The fonts used were modern san serif fonts which would be similar to the fonts of the text normally read by a typical member

of my target audience.

Here I made screen shots of the popular social media site Twitter. With an increasing amount of emphasis on communicating with more advanced formats and being able to express your opinions to the world and wider audiences; I have used fictitious online tweets raving about the film and its success. This is some thing which is done more and more as a way of interacting and engaging target audiences.

Similarly the idea that a magazine company has recommendations for the readers is another form of interacting with audiences buy showing their interest in their tastes and entertainment . The use of this badge (which I found on http://www.google.co.uk/ ) uses the codes and conventions of similar media text helps in the authenticity of my media product.
