Professional Communication This certificate program allows individuals to develop the confidence and clarity in communication to complement their professional skills and support their career growth. Most of us spend nearly all of our working hours communicating with others. Whether we are instructing a staff member on how to complete a project, brainstorming ideas with colleagues, giving a formal sales presentation, writing an e-mail or business letter, or meeting customers’ needs, effective communication skills are essential to our professional success and satisfaction. Through presentation, discussions, and exercises, you will explore the theory and practice of effective workplace communication. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS The program consists of four required courses (42 hours) and 6 hours of electives (one day): SKILLFUL CONVERSATIONS (two days, 12 hours): Learn and apply critical professional communication skills that will help you develop relationships and work more effectively. DELIVERING POWERFUL PRESENTATIONS (two days, 12 hours): Increase your confidence and decrease your anxiety. Develop presentation skills to increase your effectiveness and gain respect and attention from your boss, peers, and customers. LEADING EFFECTIVE MEETINGS (one day, 6 hours): Through presentation, discussion, and practice, learn the skills to help your meetings stand out for their effectiveness. PROFESSIONAL WRITING WORKSHOP Two-Day Intensive (two days, 12 hours): Learn to present a professional image in written communication. Address common mistakes and reduce frustration and wasted time. She has built trusting relationships and facilitated creative learning programs that deliver results for more than 200 clients and thousands of employees. Nancy holds a Masters of Human Resource Education from Boston University, and a Certificate in Training Design and Delivery from Bryant College. She is also a qualified Myers Briggs Type Indicator instructor. Elizabeth Dodge, M.F.A. Elizabeth Dodge is a freelance writer, editor, and trainer in Portland. She has more than twenty years of experience in technical writing, marketing communications, public relations, and publishing. She has been teaching and tutoring for more than fifteen years, sharing her passion for writing with a coaching style that is sensitive to the personal nature of writing.

Student RecordsWhen you register for a course, you will create a student record which you can access at any time for your course information and to print a record of what you have taken. You can also request an official transcript.
