IntroductionThe Professional Diploma in Logistics and Transport Management programme has been o�ered by HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE) for around 30 years. It follows the same syllabi of the CILTHK Professional Qualifying Examination. Graduates from the Professional Diploma will receive full exemption from the educational requirements for Chartered Membership of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CMILT). This is the only educational programme in Hong Kong at diploma level which receives full exemption.

Aims and ObjectivesThis Professional Diploma programme aims to provide professional knowledge in logistics and transport management for people already working in the �eld as well as those who are intending to pursue a career in this profession. The programme objectives are:• To provide students with both quali�ed and professional training and knowledge in logistics and transport so that they will obtain the necessary knowledge and skills in the �eld;• To equip them academically so as to enable them to pursue further studies, both in Hong Kong and overseas; • To equip the graduates with adequate knowledge so that they could be exempted from the educational quali�cation of the CMILT.

The InstituteThe Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Hong Kong (CILTHK) is the professional body for those engaged in various sectors of transport and logistics, including air, sea and land, for both passengers and freight movement.

The membership of CILTHK is now around 2,000 and broadly ranges from experienced senior executives to frontline sta� in the industries of shipping, logistics, airline, railway, road, public transport, government, educational institutions and consultancy.

Entrance RequirementsApplicants shall:(a) have satis�ed the HKU Entrance Requirements as speci�ed in the prevailing University Regulation, or possess equivalent quali�cations; or(b) be a Member of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (MILT); or(c) possess a Higher Diploma in Transport Studies granted by the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) (Tsing Yi) and have at least two years of relevant post-quali�cation work experience; or(d) possess a Diploma in Business Studies (Freight Transport) granted by IVE (Haking Wong) and at least two years of relevant post-quali�cation working experience; or(e) possess an Advanced Certi�cate in Logistics and Transport Studies awarded within the HKU system through HKU SPACE with at least grade C in either subject, Introduction to Transport Studies or Introduction to Logistics Studies; or(f ) possess an Advanced Certi�cate in Shipping and Logistics awarded within the HKU system through HKU SPACE with at least Grade C in either one of the two modules; or(g) possess a Certi�cate in Shipping and Logistics awarded within the HKU system through HKU SPACE with at least Grade C in either one of the two modules; or(h) possess an Advanced Diploma in Tra�c Engineering awarded within the HKU system through HKU SPACE; or(i) posses a RPL (Logistics) quali�cation of minimum 30 credits at QF Level 3 or above.

Applicants who do not have the above quali�cation, but possess at least 5 years of relevant working experience, with at least 3 years at managerial level, will also be considered.

Suitably quali�ed applicants may also enrol in individual subjects as non-award students or audit students.

The Programme Structure Students are required to complete 8 subjects for graduation from the 11 subjects o�ered. The subjects to be o�ered at each level are as follows:

Delivery The mode of delivery is face-to-face lecture. Each subject will consist of at least 42 contact hours. Students are required to attend at least 75% of each subject before they will be allowed to take the relevant examination. Normally classes will be held during weekday evening and one lecture will be held per week for each subject.

The medium of instruction of the programme is English. All the course materials and examination will also be in English.

Assessment Each subject will be assessed by two components: Continuous Assessment elements and Examination. The Continuous Assessment elements will constitute 40% of the overall grade of each subject whereas the Examination will constitute the remaining 60%.

ExemptionsA maximum exemption of 6 subjects may be granted. The criteria for exemption will be:i). those who have passed relevant subjects in CILT Professional Qualifying Examination (maximum 6 subjects); orii). those who have been granted exemption by the CILT for the relevant subjects (maximum 6 subjects), oriii). those who have possessed a degree and passed relevant subjects at a degree level (maximum 4 subjects), subjected to the approval of the Academic Committee.

Maximum and Minimum Registration PeriodThe minimum registration period for the Professional Diploma programme is 18 months while the maximum is 72 months.

Programme FeeThe tuition fee for the Professional Diploma in Logistics and Transport Management is $6,200 for each subject which is same as that for audit students. In addition, there is a non-refundable application fee of $150.

The exemption application fee is $500 for each subject. This fee will not be refunded to students no matter whether the exemption is approved or not.

Applicants are only required to pay the $150 application fee when applying. There is no need to pay the tuition fee at this stage. Students will be informed to do so after they have been admitted to the programme.

Commencement date and Deadline for ApplicationSeptember IntakeYou are encouraged to apply before 15 August and the programme will commence in September yearly.
