Summer A 2015:• Computer-Aided Engineering (CADE)• Clinical Nutrition for Physicians (CNPH)• Engineering Management Professional Certification (PCEM)• International and Construction Contract Administration (PACT)• Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Control (HSE) (OSHA)• Project Management (PRMG)Professional programs for Summer B 2015:• Project Management (PRMG) - Online Courses Professional Program RequirementsEach of the professional programs includes six courses, divided between required and elective classes. Each course is made up of 45 hours of instruction. Candidates must complete the required classes, but electives may be selected from a group of courses offered. A candidate in one program may take one course as an elective from the list of courses offered in other professional programs.To complete the requirements for any of the professional programs, the candidate must successfully complete the six courses. To earn two professional certificates, 12 courses must be taken. At the end of some of these programs, the candidate must present an acceptable final project. The certificate requirements may be completed in two semesters (one year), but could take up to three years. Some professional programs are also available via e-learning.

Method of InstructionCourse material is in English; however, a mix of English and Arabic instruction is used in classes to facilitate communication between instructors and course participants. Courses blend a variety of instructional tools including case studies, interactive discussions, visual aids and practical sessions.

BlackboardAll participants enrolled in ESS professional programs are entitled to access a Blackboard account. Blackboard is a web-based course-management system designed to allow students and faculty members to communicate and use online materials and activities that complement face-to-face teaching. Blackboard allows faculty to add resources for students online to enhance teaching and learning.

In case of any emergencies: • ESS will cancel any course lacking the minimum number of participants. In that case, the participant will be refunded the full

amount, or the fees may be used toward the completion of another course during any semester.• ESS may change the listed instructor.• In case of emergencies, ESS courses will temporarily be held through Blackboard sessions.

Registration Time and FeesThe registration fee for each program is indicated on the schedule (Egyptian pounds for Egyptians and U.S. dollars fornon-Egyptians). The fees may be paid in cash or by a check payable to The American University in Cairo. Letters ofauthorization from companies and organizations are acceptable.

Summer A: Registration will be held for all participants from May 3 to 13, 2015. One personal photo is required for applicants to receive their IDs. Summer B: Registration will be held for all participants from June 1 to 17, 2015.

Drop PolicySummer A: Participants are permitted to drop and transfer classes until May 30, 2015.Summer B: Participants are permitted to drop and transfer classes until July 8, 2015.Incomplete PolicyParticipants who are unable to complete a course because of exceptional circumstances may ask for an incomplete grade of I. This grade is given with the approval of the course instructor, who will submit an incomplete grade form to the ESS office. The form should include the following information:1) Reasons for the incomplete grade2) Sections of the courses that are missed and need to be completed3) Action necessary for removal of the incomplete grade, which must be completed by the end of the following semester An administrative fee of 25 percent of the total course fee will be charged to participants seeking incompletes. If necessary action is not taken on time, the incomplete grade I will be changed to a grade estimated on the basis of the work already completed as part of the course. Summer A: Deadline for incomplete requests June 20, 2015.Summer B: Deadline for incomplete requests August 6, 2015.Participants who drop a course (stop attending) without informing the ESS office in writing will receive an F in the course.Refund PolicyRefunds are made according to the following schedule:• Before the beginning of classes: full tuition refund• From the first week of classes until the end of the first week: 50 percent of tuition• By the end of the second week: no refunds will be made.The refund request should be supported by the original receipt, course material and a copy of the national ID. Refunds areprocessed within a month of receiving a request, and the participant will receive a check in their name for the refund amount.

Study Period ExtensionProfessional programs usually take three years to complete. However, participants who are faced with hardships or situations beyond their control should present proper documentation to justify their cause. Each case will be closely examined by ESS. In all cases, only one semester of study may be extended.

Online Courses

Method of InstructionESS online courses use the leading Blackboard web-based course management system as the platform for instruction. This system is used worldwide by universities and allows students and faculty to communicate and create a rich learning environment using online materials and up-to-date communication technologies such as email, discussion boards, wikis and blogs. This asynchronous learning environment gives the participants flexibility to study according to their own schedule and their own pace from anywhere.It is expected that some of the participants may have no previous experience in participating in an online course, and ESS provides personal technical assistance and clear online instructions to help participants overcome any technical problems during the program.

ApplicationUpon completion of registration, participants will be issued an AUC email username and password and an ID number. A Banner Self-Service manual will be sent via email to explain the process of registration and fee payment.

ESS ID• An ESS ID card allows the participants to enter any of AUC’s campuses and the AUC Library for using only. (Issuing ID is optional).• The cost of issuing an ID card for the first time is LE. 50 (non-refundable) paid on the registration of the courses by the trainee whatever

individuals or nominated through corporate. The ID will be renewed at no extra cost for subsequent semesters.• ESS IDs are issued from 9:00 am to 3:45 pm from Sundays through Thursdays at either the ESS New Cairo or Tahrir Square office. Special

arrangements can be made for issuing the ID on Saturdays in Coordination with ESS Dept.• It is not necessary to bring a personal photo. The ID center will take a picture on-site and issue the ID instantly.• The smart ID card must be carried at all times. The card is NOT TRANSFERABLE. Card holders should not lend the ID to another individual

for any purpose.• A lost, stolen or damaged card must be reported to ESS. The participant will have to pay the LE 50 fee to receive a new ID.

سياسة استرداد المصروفاتوتأجيل المواد في البرامج التخصصية

1 - شروط استرداد المصروفات الدراسية

في حالة رغبة المشتركين في البرامج التخصصية بوحدة الخدمات الهندسية والعلمية في إلغاء التسجيل أو االنسحاب من برنامج أو مواد ما، يمكنهم استرداد المصروفات الدراسية طبقاً للشروط التالية:

• في حالة االنسحاب قبل بداية الدراسة، يمكن استرداد المصروفات كاملة.• في حالة االنسحاب في الفترة من بداية الدراسة وحتى نهاية األسبوع االول، يمكن استرداد 50% فقط من قيمة المصروفات.

• في حالة االنسحاب في بداية األسبوع الثاني، ال يمكن استرداد أية مبالغ مدفوعة.

يتم صرف المبالغ المستردة بعد شهر من تقديم الطلب مع تسليم اإليصال األصلي، والكارنيه، والمادة العلمية لوحدة الخدمات الهندسية والعلمية. وفي حالة إلغاء أو تأجيل أي من المقررات من قبل وحدة الخدمات الهندسية والعلمية لعدم اكتمال عدد الدراسين، يمكن استرداد قيمة

المصروفات كاملة أو يمكن استخدامها في التسجيل في برنامج آخر في موعد أقصاه عام من الفصل الدراسي.2 - االنسحاب من برنامج

الدراسة. تقدير »F« في نهاية انسحاب، يحصلون على فيها بدون طلب التسجيل تم التي البرامج الدارسين في انتظام أي من في حالة عدم ويمكن تأجيل مادة ما مع االحتفاظ بالمصروفات الخاصة بالدارس الذي يواجه أي ظروف خارجة عن إرادته، ويعني ذلك حصول الدارس علي الداعمة الكاملة المستندات إلى الهندسية والعلمية، باإلضافة الخدمات المادة)، وتقديم طلب لقسم تقدير »I« (مع دفع 25% من إجمالي ثمن التالي مباشرة. للطلب وبشرط أن يقبل عذره من قسم الخدمات الهندسية والعلمية واألستاذ المحاضر، على أن يتم استكمال المادة في الفصل

* الفصل الدراسي الصيفي األول: ال يمكن التحويل من مادة إلي أخري بعد يوم 30 مايو2015.* أخر موعد لطلب عدم استكمال المادة (Incomplete) 20 يونيو 2015.

خالل الفصل الدراسي الصيفي الثاني من العام الدراسي 2014 - 2015:(PRMG-Online) البرنامج التخصصي في إدارة المشروعات •

الشهادة التخصصية:تتكون جميع الشهادات التخصصية المذكوره أعاله من ستة مناهج دراسية والتي تنقسم بين مواد إجبارية وأخرى اختيارية. يجب أن يتمم الدارس المواد اإلجبارية وأن يختار المواد االختيارية حسب تخصصه ورغبته مع تقديم مشروع مقبول. تتم دراسة أي مادة دراسية في فصل دراسي واحد والتي تعادل 45 ساعة دراسية للبرنامج الواحد. يمكن للدارس أن ينتظم في دراسة أكثر من منهج في نفس الوقت. كما يمكن أن يكمل الدارس متطلبات الشهادة التخصصية في فترة تتراوح بين سنة واحدة وثالث سنوات دراسية بحد أقصي. ولكي تتاح الفرصة لالستفادة من البرامج األخرى، يمكن للدارس أن يختار مادتين اختياريتين فقط من أي من البرامج التخصصية األخرى.

أسلوب الدراسة:تُستخدم النظم الحديثة في المحاضرات والمناقشات والدراسات التطبيقية والتدريبات العملية على الحاسب اآللي لتغطية المناهج الدراسية. وتُنتقى المذكرات من أحدث المراجع، والتي عادة ما تكون باللغة اإلنجليزية، على أن يتم استخدام اللغتين العربية واإلنجليزية عند إلقاء المحاضرات حتى ال تكون اللغة عائقاً

في سبيل التحصيل. الفصل الصيفي األول: يبدأ التسجيل لجميع الدارسين من 3 حتى 13 مايو 2015 يومياً، من 9:00 صباحاً حتى 3:00 مساًء، ما عدا يومي الجمعة

والسبت،ظهراً عدا يومي الجمعة والسبت علي أن تبدأ الدراسة في 24 مايو 2015 وتنتهي في 20 يونيو 2015.الفصل الصيفي الثاني: يبدأ التسجيل لجميع الدارسين من 1 حتى 17 يونيو2015 يومياً، من 9:00 صباحاً حتى 3:00 مساًء، ما عدا يومي الجمعة

والسبت،ظهراً عدا يومي الجمعة والسبت علي أن تبدأ الدراسة في 1 يوليو 2015 وتنتهي في 6 أغسطس 2015.
