It will provide an overall perspective of an integrated team-based approach, with particular reference to dental therapists, and discuss if there are gaps in our evidence-based practice which impact on the delivery of optimised prevention and care. Professor Paul Brunton Persil or Peroxide – Which Works Best? A guide to tooth whitening This session will provide an overview of whitening techniques and consider which procedure is best practice, which materials should be used and the current legal situation. Professor Monty Duggal Restoration of Children's Teeth: The journey from minimal intervention to pulp therapy This session will discuss the current issues facing dental professionals in the treatment of caries amongst children, and attempt to highlight future ways forward for treatment both in the UK and worldwide. Professor Nicola West New Concepts in Tooth Wear and Dentine Sensitivity Management This session will explore the aetiology of tooth wear. It will also give delegates an insight and greater understanding of the role of erosion in the aetiology of dentine hypersensitivity. Dr Ravi Singh The New NHS Contract – Quality Care Delivered Use of Skill Mix This session, delivered with Dr Colette Bridgman, will give an insight into the implementation of new pilot contracts in the North West and its impact on skill mix, from a General Dental Practitioners viewpoint. Donna Hough Committed to a Lifetime of Professional Development A highly skilled dental workforce relies on good quality education and training to develop and maintain clinical, educational and managerial competencies. This session will review the role of the UK post graduate deaneries in offering ongoing education, with a focus on what the North Western Deanery has achieved in their area. Dr Colette Bridgman The New NHS Contract – Quality Care Delivered Use of Skill Mix This session, delivered with Dr Ravi Singh, will give an insight into the implementation of new pilot contracts in the North West and its impact on skill mix, from the perspective of a Consultant in Dental Public Health. Dr Barry Cockcroft Developing the Role of DCPs Within Service Delivery This session aims to make people more aware of the potentially expanded role that DCPs can play in delivering a preventive focused agenda. Timothy Ives Curing Caries This session will demonstrate the implementation of current concepts in caries risk assessment and management. It will also give understanding of how the concept of caries is changing and how to effectively manage caries. Jenny Alexander Infection Control: Dental team training This session will provide clear understanding of current infection control regulations and advice as well as the reasons for infection control procedures.
