The global economy begins to resuscitate from the economic
crisis that has blanketed it for the past two years. In the
emerging countries, especially China, the economy increases
rapidly, which no doubt will help other countries in the
world to overcome the economic crisis. Reorganizing
the economy and progressing science and technology are
important factors in stimulating economic growth, where
governments of various countries are committed to making
their best efforts to achieve this. In keeping with this
international effort, the Chinese government has set a goal
for the Chinese people to establish an innovation-oriented
country; adopting many measures to encourage invention
and innovation, and to strengthen the protection of
intellectual property. China is not only a production centre
for the whole world, but is also a huge market .The number
of patent and trademark applications continues to increase
rapidly with each passing year, where not only the number
of applications filed domestically have increased rapidly, but
also the number of applications that have been filed abroad,
especially PCT applications. Consequently, IP practitioners
all over the world are very interested in the development
of the Chinese patent system. All-China Patent Attorneys
Association and FICPI China are planning to co-organize a
China Intellectual Property Symposium every two years in
different Chinese cities to exchange views and experiences
with IP professionals worldwide on both theoretical and
practical aspects of intellectual property in an international
context. In this light, we are pleased to announce that the
main topic of the China Intellectual Property Symposium
(Shanghai) for 2011 will be the “Comparison of Patent
Prosecution Practice in Different Jurisdictions”. We hope
that this topic will be of interest and be helpful to patent
applicants, patent attorneys and patent examiners alike who
are concerned not only with prosecuting patent applications
in China, but also with the prosecution of patent applications
in other countries.

peaks, spectacular rocks, odd-shaped pines, and a sea of clouds.
Mount Huangshan boasts 72 peaks, more than 1,000 meters above sea
level, with three main peaks rising majestically. Cliffs, stone forests,
stone pillars, stone blocks and egg-shaped stones form the unique
granite geomorphological scenery.
The pines on the mountain are tall and have fascinating shapes. As the
clouds cloak the mountain, they give a feeling of being in fairyland.
In 1990, Mount Huangshan went on both the world cultural and
natural heritage lists.
