(Formerly Government Engineering College)

situated in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh

state, has proven to be "avant-grade' in the field

of science and technology over past few

decades in this region. The institute was

established with sweet memory of foundation

ceremony by our president Hon'ble Dr. Rajendra thPrasad on 14 September 1956 and was

upgraded to National Institute of Technology in

1st December 2005. At present the institute

offers courses at graduate, post graduate and

Ph.D level.

The Central Library of NIT, Raipur has good

collections of text books, reference books, e-

books and journals archives. Besides it has

subscription to numbers of print journals and

online databases/journals.It caters to the

information and document need of nearly 5000

users consisting of faculty members, staff,

B.Tech/M.Tech/MCA students and research

scholars satisfactorily.

Libraries since their inception have been playing

important role in academia. Their role has been

indispensable and inseparable for an institution

either responsible for or aiming at promoting and

providing quality education & research. But with

the advancement and ever-changing ICT, a large

numbers of information are generated in all fields

of knowledge leading to information explosion.

Commensurately, collections of libraries

changed from print only to print, electronic

(online and offline), digital and so on. Also users'

information seeking behaviors have changed

drastically and are finding themselves more

comfortable with various electronic gadgets to

use the library resources and service for their

study and research.

In this context providing authentic and right

information within a limited time span to users

has been important task for any library.

Accordingly libraries are acquiring various types

of resources, tools and using various techniques

to promote quality education and research.

The objective of the seminar is to discuss about

the resources, tools and techniques used in

libraries and find out measures to enable libraries

to promote quality education and research in a

better way.

Research Scholars of NIT, Raipur.

There is no registration fee for the workshop. The

participation is on invitation or confirmation.

The participants must contribute a paper on the

theme or any sub themes. Only one author (in

case of multiple authors) of the contributed

papers will be treated as participants and be

acceptable for free participation.

Limited accommodation facilities are available for

outside resource persons and invitees.

Accommodation facilities will be arranged for

participants on prior information and the charges

towards this will be borne by the participants.
