Suggested Clothing Gear

In order to enjoy hiking and excursions you need shoes or low boots that will hold your feet firmly, while letting them breathe. They should be water-proof, with rubber sole and very good traction. Also needed are mountain socks, a wind-proof polar sweater, a light water-proof jacket, comfortable, water-proof and wind-proof pants, a polar or woollen hat that covers your ears, gloves, sun glasses, face and lips sun protection, and walking poles.

MONDAY, APRIL 4

After breakfast meet your guide who will transfer to you Santiago National´s Airport for your flight to Punta Arenas and latter transfer to the Puerto Natales and Torres del Paine Natinal Park.

Patagonia is a vast region in the southernmost tip of South America. Civilizations with magical rites, sailors and pioneers have contributed to its fame. It is a mythical place, synonymous with exploration.

� Estancia Cerro Negro: o After 2 hours travelling from Punta Arenas the group will stop at Cerro Negro,

a picturesque ranch that provides an ideal stop halfway through the trip. Here travelers experience and learn how a real estancia is managed. You will also have the chance to visit a colonial house that was restored to the original conditions it was in the 1900 and learn about the family history which started many generations ago in small island of Croatia. We will have a Typical Lunch from the region with exquisite Chilean wines and pisco sours, a trademark drink in Chile.

o Afterwards, Gerardo (our Gaucho) will show you how he manages sheep with witty dogs and then, the group moves on to witness one of the most characteristic activities in every Estancia, sheep shearing.

o This interesting break concludes after an hour or so and everybody hops back on the van, resuming the trip to Torres del Paine.

Our history in a few words:

In 1905 Antonio Kusanovic Jercic begins a journey far away from his home country, Croatia.

At the age of 15 he arrives to an unknown land called, Patagonia. In 1926 his first son was born, Antonio Kusanovic Senkovic. Following his father’s steps, Antonio becomes one of the pioneers in the cattle business. In 1979 he acquires estancia Cerro Paine, a beautiful patch of land located in the heart of Torres Del Paine National Park.

In the early nineties an ever growing trickle of tourists to the national park had began. Realizing the beautiful landscapes of Torres Del Paine were of interest to the world, he decided with his wife, Amor Eliana Marusic, to build a lodge of 9 rooms and a quaint restaurant, which was named Hosteria Las Torres (Now Hotel Las Torres Patagonia).

After his death in 1997, his wife and four sons, Liliana, Mauricio, Jose Antonio and Vesna, lead this family project to become one of the most important hotels in Magallanes.

There are moments in life in which the effects of nature compel an indefinable sensation; powerful tranquility, a growing tide of beauty that overwhelms. In presence of these colossal sceneries man remembers his true homeland; so big and so beautiful is the scene. The intense glow of the clouds in spring and autumn, the powerful colors in the leaves, the golden horizons all seduce into remembering man’s origin, all entice into reaching, breathing and becoming such beauty.

We will combine Nature with the most authentic side of the Patagonia in which you will experience the Gauchos (Patagonian Cowboy) and many of their different activities. In the following itinerary we share an insight of the different experiences our clients live.

� Arrival To Hotel Las Torres: Gauchos Special Welcoming: o This activity has been very successful and has made a difference with many of

our visitors. One mile before the van arrives to the Hotel six (Gauchos) are waiting for the convoy and accompany the van in a wild gallop. They will show why they are the masters of the horse in Patagonia and upon entrance to the hotel, the gauchos will line up and seconds before people start getting out of the vehicle, they will cry out words and local sayings. It is an entrance that is rarely forgotten.

o Pisco Sour and Calafate sour will be served on arrival.

TUESDAY 5 Breakfast THE PUMAS TRAIL: This trek or Horse Ride leaves from Las Torres and rounds the west face of the Cerro Paine. During the 2 hours of riding/ Trekking there is a spectacular view to the south and east. Once the destination is reached, the famous towers that named park appear: Torres del Paine.

• The excursions start at 10 and return around 3 pm

� Patagonian LAMB “Best meal in Patagonia”:

After the 2 groups have arrived, las Torres will have a great surprise for them.

o Very close to the hotel there will be a spectacular “Asado al Palo” (lamb on a stick) waiting for them. This is the most authentic meal in Patagonia and we have our own special cook: Don Merce. He has been

with us for a long time, even before the hotel existed. For this occasion the group will eat inside a Refugio (Lodge) to make sure the experience does not get affected by weather.

o Asado starts at 3 pm and finishes approximately at 5 Pm.

� Afternoon Activities: Between 6 pm and 8 pm there will be activities to choose from such as quaint walks in the Hotel surroundings, visits to our own Organic farm just a few meters away from the hotel, Documentary videos on the Conference center or any other activity clients might want to organize with the guides.

� THE BIG FIRE: Just Outside the Hotel. o After dinner, the staff will have made a bon fire. Of course free drinks and Pisco

sours will be served in hopes of a merry atmosphere that makes for stories and new friends.

� Breakfast � Excursions “FULL PAINE”: In this excursion the main features on the south side of

the park are visited, including the major lakes, Glaciar Grey and the Paine Massif. Along the way, flora and fauna that characterizes the park can be seen. Once we get to the Grey Lake a ferry will be waiting to take the group towards the glaciers.

o We will start about 9 am and finish around 6-7 pm. o Navigation on the Grey Lake is included. ( 3 hours boat trip)
