Programme:Financial Sponsorship Scheme; HOPE
Procedure:
The Hislop College Alumni Association, Nagpur (HISCAAN) shall sponsor students each
from Science, Arts and Commerce stream respectively for financial sponsorship.
The selection procedure for short listing of candidates shall include two levels of selection,
which shall include;
➢ Selection by a panel of teachers from the three streams respectively. The procedure
shall include verification of the details provided by the students in the given format
The criteria for the basis of selection areas under;
o Financial Condition (Economical Details)
o Academic proficiency
o Existing support system
o Vision of the student for Career prospects
o Aptitude for putting in maximum efforts for future growth and
development (To be judged by the panel)
➢ Students shall be selected from the shortlisted candidates after a personal interview
with a panel comprising
• Principal
• Senior faculty member from the College
• Alumni Association member from the College.

Hislop College Alumni Association organised the VI edition of "HOPE - The Financial
Sponsorship Scheme" on March 8, 2018. A Motivational talk was conducted for the 80
students selected under this scheme. Mrs. Rina Sinha, Business Partner NIIT Ltd. & President
Rotary Club of Nagpur, was the chief guest and resource person for the programme. Dr Dipti
Christian, Principal, Hislop College, Mr. Vijay Naidu, Vice President HISCAAN, Dr. Deepa
Jamwal, Secretary HISCAAN, Dr. Jayant Ranade, Treasurer HISCAAN, Mr. Dinesh
Chhabra, Dr Mousumi Bhowal, Alumni Convener, Dr Prantik Banerjee, Alumni Co-convener
& NAAC Coordinator, Dr. Abhilasha Raut were prominently present. Mr. Umesh Shrikhande
Former President, Parents Teachers Association, and Professor Aftab Gharda from Coventry
University UK also graced the function.
The dignitaries were welcomed by Dr. Razeka Khan who anchored the programme. Dr Dipti
Christian, in her inaugural address thanked HISCAAN as well as Rotary Club of Nagpur for
extending financial help and also congratulated the students for getting Financial Sponsorship
from HISCAAN. She inspired the students to be grateful for the sponsorship and strive
further for developing themselves as potential alumni sponsors for future Hislop students.
This will indeed help in creating a healthy society. She also asked them to set a goal in life
and work hard with self motivation to achieve the same.She also thanked Mr. Shrikhande for
sponsoring three girl students this year one each from Commerce, Arts & Science streams.
Mr. Vijay Naidu in his address elaborated about the programme and also highlighted the
yearlong activities of HISCAAN.
Mrs. Rina Sinha greeted everyone on the occasion of International Women’s Day and also
congratulated the students for earning the sponsorship on their own merits. She interacted
with the students and emphasized on self-motivation as the key to development. The session
was made lucid for the students through anecdotes from daily life. In the extremely
competitive work conditions of today, all genders are required to work from a common
platform without and discrimination. She insisted that to be successful & to be able to achieve
the goal all efforts should be structured & organised. Time management, self-upgrading and
up skilling is the mantra for success.
Ms. Adina Collins and Mr. Rakesh Kaahyap shared their experiences as student
representatives on how this scheme helped them to fund their education and was also an
incentive to do well so that they could avail this financial help for three consecutive years.
This program was preceded by Life Skills based Workshop conducted by Dr. Ruchi
Chowdhary and Mrs. Monica Bhagwagar from Rotary Club of Nagpur. The workshop was
conducted over 2 days with the aim of cultivating personal life skills such as communication,
personality development, resume writing and various interview techniques. The sessions were
highly appreciated and applauded by the students.
The programme concluded with distribution of Sponsorship cheques by the dignitaries to
eighty students (80) from Arts, Science and Commerce streams. Dr. Jayant Ranade proposed
the vote of thanks.
