This is a story of loss, obsession, survival and self-invention. March 2, 2015 – David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell. A challenge to us about how we think about obstacles and disadvantages, offering a new interpretation of what it means to be discriminated against or cope with a disability. Ageless Yoga Join this popular class, designed for those with limited mobility. Modified classic yoga exercises with easy standing poses and low impact work in a chair allow students the chance to improve strength and flexibility in an approachable and fun way. Fridays 10:30 – 11:30am, Session 1 – January 9 – February 27. Session 2 – March 6 – April 24. Members $64; Guests $74, per session.

Sit and Get Fit Our instructor Gail will lead the class as we work on increasing range of motion, circulation, flexibility, balance and strength with easy to follow moves. We sometimes use light weights or toning bands to improve strength. Mondays and Wednesdays 1 – 2pm. Ongoing; purchase a 10-class punch card for $60 (Members) $75 (Guests).

Prime Time This is an easy-to-follow class where you will enjoy a low-impact workout designed to improve your cardiovascular fitness, strength, balance and flexibility. Sessions are on-going so you may register at any time during the class. Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:45-9:45 am. and Wednesdays 8:00 – 9:00 am. Ongoing; purchase a 10-class punch card for $50 (Members) $70 (Guests).

Walking Track Don’t forget as members of the Active Adult program you have FREE use of The Community House walking track on the upper level of the Field House (whenever the building is open, usually 8 am. to 7 pm.). Rubber soled shoes are required. Non-members can use the walking track for a small fee. All track users must check in at the front desk. Be sure to check out our other exercise classes too!! Beginning Bridge Lessons Come and learn the exciting game of Bridge! This course is appropriate for both new players wishing to learn to play bridge and players with some experience who want to improve their bidding and play skills. Indian Prairie Computer Club Meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 9:30 am. This group offers periodic informational presentations by guest speakers or club members, as well as general question and answer sessions.

AARP Driver Safety Program January 26, 2015 (Monday) and January 27, 2015 (Tuesday) and March 17, 2015 (Tuesday) and March 18, 2015 (Wednesday) from 11:30 am – 3:30 pm at The Community House. Fee: $15.00 for AARP members (you will need your AARP number) and $20 for nonmembers. Payment is due the first day of class (Please make check payable to AARP.) These classes are offered at The Community House for drivers who are over the age of 50 and wish to update their driving skills. It is a classroom-only session. Retired Men’s Roundtable

The roundtable is a group of retired business and professional men from Hinsdale and the surrounding communities. They meet monthly on the 4th Wednesday, starting at 9:30 a.m. for coffee and donuts and to hear a stimulating speaker on a subject of current or local interest. Fee: $3.00 at the door.

Want to play the musical instrument you haven’t picked up in ages? Join us at The Community House once a month, at no cost, to make music with others who enjoy

19, 2015 from 2 – 4pm. All instruments, including voice, are welcome! Music will be from the 1930 – 1950 era, “The Great American Songbook”. The Wonderful World of Watercolors

Learn how to paint with watercolors by following an easy, step-by-step method requiring

no special skills, experience or abilities. This course will dispel many myths you have about the difficulty of using watercolors. Discover how to fix mistakes and create

paintings that will delight you! You will leave each session with a completed painting. Fee includes painting supplies. Thursdays, January 22 through February12, 9:30 – 11:30am, and Wednesdays, January 21 through February 11, 5:30 – 7:30pm. Each

Painting with Oils

This class welcomes everyone interested in oil paints, charcoal or pastels. Painting from life will be emphasized. Students may choose to work from still life, floral, costume

model, landscape or casts. Through brief demonstrations and personal attention, instructor Susan Hong-Sammons, will explain the time tested art principles including

JB Bernstein, a one-time successful sports agent, leaves the company he works for to start his own agency. The company is in serious financial straits, and they lose the big client they've been grooming. In a fit of inspiration, JB believes they can go to India, find a cricket bowler, and teach him to be a baseball pitcher. They eventually find a pair of eager and promising prospects. The duo travel back to the States with JB where they are then tutored by a USC baseball coach whose approach to the game is as much mental as physical. The two young men are finally given a highly publicized tryout in front of scouts from numerous pro teams, as well as media from around the world.

Join us to hear Lynn Rymarz present Lady Almina and the real Downton Abbey, by The Countess of Carnarvon. In this book review learn about the lost legacy of Highclere Castle in Britain and hear about the real historical characters who lived there, including Almina

Carnarvon, her husband, the 5th Earl of Carnarvon and her family. Learn about the people who worked there, the transformation of the Castle when it became a hospital for wounded soldiers during the first World War, and how Almina became a nurse to take care of them.

A+ ACTIVE ADULTS MEMBERSHIP We do ask regular participants in our programs to become members, and we also welcome the support of anyone who values the existence of programs such as ours in the community. Members receive newsletters and update flyers by mail. Prices for trips and events are discounted for members. In addition, you have FREE use of The Community House walking track. Membership is $45 for individuals, or $65 for couples. To join, please come to The Community House and fill out a registration form or mail a slip of paper with your name, full address and phone number and send it with your check, indicating that it is for the A+ Active Adults membership. If you plan on using our walking track, please indicate that as well.

Refund Policy • All refund requests will be charged a $10 processing fee. In House credits and program transfers

will be charged a $5 administration fee. • Refunds will not be given once a ticket to a performance or event has been purchased. • Refunds will not be granted for withdrawals made three business days prior to the event/trip. • Individuals who withdraw from a class, program, and event/trip less than five business days prior

to the scheduled start date will be charged 75% of the total program fee. • Refund requests must be approved by the Program Director.
