Programs & Services Redesign
Overview: • Changes to the structure are needed for Fiscal.
• Look at how Programs, SSIS Sub Programs, Services and county Sub-Services used - both by the system and the counties.
04/06/04 SSIS Fiscal Presentation 2
Issues with the current SSIS structure (the 9 digit BRASS Plus)
• Program and service are lumped into 1 field
• The field often needs to be divided into smaller chunks for reporting.
• In SSIS Fiscal, state reports, claiming and county reports need the 3 digit BRASS code.
• Maintenance of the codes is difficult • For SSIS
• For counties - County sub-services also have to be defined for every sub-program where they are valid.

Functions that will change with the re-design
• How counties will define sub-services
• Staff Activity and Service Agreement Entry
• Provider Services Offered Setup

Create Sub-ServiceReview of the current process
• Create the sub-service
• Define whether the sub-service is staff and/or vendor provided
• Define valid activities for the sub-service
04/06/04 SSIS Fiscal Presentation 5
Current Screen in Admin
• Services are defined in every sub-program in which the service is valid
• The same is true for sub-services
Note: The sub-services on this screen are from a test database and would not be seen in a county.

State Defined ServicesCounties will still have the ability to change the default settings of state-defined services- Staff and/or Vendor provided
- Only needs to be done once for the service, and will apply to all sub-programs
- A new indicator will be added (not shown) to allow counties to require a county defined sub-service on Staff Activity and Service Agreements

State Defined BRASS Services
• Change list of activities for a sub-program / service- This process won’t change, except the list of activities will be used by all sub-services

Current Screen: Create County Sub-Service
• Define settings - Sub-service Name
- Sub-service
Number - Effective
Dates - Staff/Vendor provided
- Valid Activities

The Proposed Change: Create County Sub-service
• Define the sub-service and settings - Sub-service Name - Sub-service Number - Effective Dates
• Activities and staff/vendor provided indicators come from the state defined service

Staff Activity Review of current screen
BRASS Services and sub-services are combined on 1 drop down
Note: The services on this screen are based on an example from Olmsted County

Staff Activity How the same example might look
Service list shows available BRASS Services
New County Sub-Service drop down shows sub-services valid for the selected BRASS Service
Note: The sub-services on this screen are based on an example from Olmsted County
