Artist’s StatementFor my sustained investigation I decided to investigate the idea of Progressive Humanism, being the application of the philosophical and artistic concept of Humanism, based in the Renaissance, to a more modern and futuristic context. Inspired by a multitude of Renaissance masterpieces, I first applied artistic humanism to a more modern context. Later on I experimented with new artistic media and methods as well as more in depth ideas to apply both artistic and philosophical humanism to meaningful, multifaceted works straight out of my imagination that explore Humanism going into the future.

Humanism (noun): an outlook or system of thought attaching prime importance to human rather than divine or supernatural matters. Humanist beliefs stress the potential value and goodness of human beings, emphasize common human needs, and seek solely rational ways of solving human problems● a Renaissance cultural movement

which turned away from medieval scholasticism and revived interest in Ancient Greek and Roman thought
