BROCHURE
A trifold brochure for a non-profit organization.
My first step was to create my logo for the company using Adobe Illustrator. After, I created a trifold layout in Indesign. Using a monochromatic color scheme, I designed each flap of my brochure with repeating desighn design elements and high quality photos. created rectangular lines, triangles, circles and rectangles using the shape tool. I made two images fill up an entire flap and used teal against them to display the text. After creating my main design elements and placing the photos, I added my body copy. I paid careful attention to alignment to create consistency and ensured my body copy style was the same. I also used Photoshop to create a text wrapped image on the inside using the lasso tool.

After creating three different logo ideas, I took votes and picked my final logo on the feedback I received. I chose to work with a simple and modern logo. I picked a simple font and created a circle (using the shape tool) in the middle of the “o”, which goes along with the companies name – Pushdot. I made part of the name grey to give good contrast. I added “studio” to the bottom right of the main name, using kerning to spread the letters out. I incorporated a bright green color to my design in order for it to stand out against the grey. When I finished my main logo, I created two other versions of it. For this logo design project, I used Adobe Illustrator.

EVENT AD
A full bleed color event Ad usng a scanned image and Microsoft Word.
I began my scanning a professionally printed photo and resizing it. Using Microsoft word, I created rectangular shapes throughout the image to add dimension and a background space for the text. I faded the shapes to make the pie (as well as the title) the focal point. I used individual text boxes to line up the title with the pie and used it to create the letter “A” in the ad. I chose a white, bold and large title font and a simple serif to create contrast between my text.

WEB PAGE Nov. 21st, 2015
This page was created using Notepad ++. I first added logo image to the HTMl code and linked it to the CSS. I used the Photoshop eyedropper tool to figure out the hex code, which I then incorporated into my CSS code. I also used a texture for my background image. Then, I played around with both the HTML and CSS create div’s and change the webpage from its original design. I wanted to create a sidebar with a list of my tools and design skills, and I did that by creating a rectangle, resizing it, and positioning it on the page. I also separated the header to go along with the sidebar. I used padding around text and the different div elements to give an equal amount of white space and also create alignment. After changing the fonts and declaring backup fonts, I changed the color of my link from blue to green.

First, I began searching for quotes on Google that could apply to the theme of this project. I found my background image and cropped it into a 8.5 by 11 document. Then, I added an image of the person on the swing. I used the masking to remove unwated elements of the photo and also blended it in with the background image. I played with the opacity to get a natural look. Next, I used the lasso tool to outline another picture of clouds. I was able to place that it the image and use the masking tool to blend it in with the mountains. I then added a picture of Jesus Christ. I used the masking tool and added more fading and blending towards the bottom of the image. I also used the clone tool to copy some of the angels on the side, as the original photo did not fit the whole width of the page. I used the sharpening tool for a fliter. Lastly, I added the text using two contrasting fonts.

My final design was created after I played with four different sketches. I was provided with the logo, image, and informational text. I used Adobe Indesign to create this flier. I focused on creating white space and did so by giving enough space between the images and text. I also used the principle of value in order to create contrast, as seen by the bold title and lighter text. Using the line tool, I created thick liunes to sepereate some of the text and add a little design detail. I bolded the important information such as the date and time. I focused on making a clean design that is well aligned, unified, and easy-to-read from a quick glance.

BUSINESS CARD Nov. 7th, 2015
Matching stationery and business card for a web hosting company.
Using Adobe Illustrator, I created a logo for a web hosting company. I used the shape tool to create the two boxes and used a simple, clean text. After, I opened Indesign and placed my logo onto an 8.5 x 11 in document. I used the rectangle tool to create a 3.5 x 2 in business card, and used a dark grey color as my background. I placed my logo into the rectangle and make it white. I added a line on the side of the logo and below the name. My next step was to apply the contact information to the card, which I did in a lighter text to give contrast between the logo text. I used white as my main color, but incorporated light blue elements as well. I wanted to keep this business card more on the neutral side. I aligned the text with the logo on the side and created a small rectangle at the bottom to place the website name into. I kept the back of the business card simple by inserting a large version of the logo.

STATIONERY
After creating my logo and the business card, I used Adobe Indesign to create my stationery. I used the rectangle tool to create two long rectangles on the left side and the bottom. I placed the white version of the logo on the blue and moved the two boxes over to the other rectangle on the side, so that the design would have balance. I also added the same two boxes on the left hand corner. I inserted the contact information and separated it with a thin white line. The stationery incorporates the same colors and fonts as the business card.

PHOTODESIGN Oct. 17th, 2015
Take a photograph and create a flier to demonstrate photo editing skills and knowledge of color schemes.
Using my Nikon 3200, I first took a photo. Then, I resized it and edited the colors to fit the complementary color scheme of teal and brick. In the original photo, the shoes were light blue and the wall was light brick. I also edited other aspects of the photo in Photoshop, including the sharpness, levels, and vibrance. I then sketched ideas for my design. I decided to use a triangle shape as a reoccurring design element. I placed the name of my color scheme and its colors on the design, including the swatches. I used the eye dropper tool this this project in order to get accurate colors. I also added transparent triangles to display text.
