Project AC0115 Final Report Appendix D: Preliminary synthesis of new data April 2014 Introduction This appendix presents the results of preliminary analyses of the new data collected as part of AC0115. It combines data collected from controlled experiments with that collected as part of on-farm measurements. A final synthesis of the data for production of UK-specific emission factors for a new greenhouse gas reporting inventory will take place as part of project AC0114. Project AC0115 Final Report

Appendix D: Preliminary synthesis of new data

April 2014

Introduction This appendix presents the results of preliminary analyses of the new data collected as part of AC0115. It combines data collected from controlled experiments with that collected as part of on-farm measurements. A final synthesis of the data for production of UK-specific emission factors for a new greenhouse gas reporting inventory will take place as part of project AC0114.

23

Summary

• New data for sheep and cattle

• On-farm technology not reliable for EF synthesis

• No major effect of gender, breed or forage

• Physiological state may be important

24

Summary

• Main driver for methane production is intake

• Ym ~ 6 % - negative relationship with intake

• AC0115 data analysed

• Combined with archive for final EF synthesis
