Project Owner: California Department of Transportation Contractors: Shimmick Construction with Joint Venture Partner, Myers & Sons Construction; Short Load Products: Rapid Set ® Cement The project to replace recently poured PC panels was restricted to a tight timeframe between 1:35 a.m. and 8 a.m. the same morning. Rapid Set ® Cement was mixed in a volumetric mixer, finished with a roller screed, bull float, fresno and tine, and cured with a spray-on ASTM C309 Type II Class B curing compound. Despite the challenge of the short window of time to work, crews successfully placed 300 cubic yards of concrete.
