The building will serve as a corporate office for 250 occupants. It also house a commercial area to serve the occupants and nearby residents. The building must be expandable to accommodate a fair amount of additional occupants as part of a planned expansion within five years of initial occupancy. In the future, it is possible that all retail spaces will be occupied by the company (office). Currently significant project’s requirements are:

• HQ building for HARN Engineering (6000 m2)

• Office area 5000m2 and commercial area 1000m2

• Space design promote collaborative working and Generation Z lifestyle

• Building as a demonstration case for learning

• Energy efficient building

• Achieve good indoor environment and thermal comfort

• Building that reflects HARN’s corporate identity

• Achieve DGNB’s Gold Certification

“Strategies for Thai weather, Bangkok”

• Natural ventilation is appropriate for 19.4% of the

occupied hours (Adaptive Comfort model).

• Sun shading is highly recommended.

• Cooling and dehumidification are recommended

for 78.9% of the occupied hours.

• North and south wind are significant.

“Solar gain reduction”Orientation / shading

Spanish moss

(เคราฤๅษ)ี

have high shading capability and low irrigation demand.

Solar gain is a significant cause of building heat gain in Thailand. Shading devices are necessary. Horizontal shading device is suitable for South-North façade.

A tree can become a powerful shading device and significantly reduce solar gain.

“Biophilic Design”Access to green / daylight

Pocket garden provide the occupants green view and access to daylight.

“Biophilic Design”Access to natural material / natural ventilation

Brick as a main decorative building material. Provide earth-tone and natural feeling to the building.

Plant as a main material for shading device and other light weight material. Plants provide natural look to the building. It is also a sustainable material with ability to store the carbon, if procure sustainably.

Crosswind natural ventilation provide highest flow rate to the building interior. Suitable for tropical climate zone.
