Project Narrative

1. Briefly describe the project.

a. What were your original objectives?The objective of the project was to donate 250 school desks to 3 schools for poor children & build a toilet block at a school without this facility.

b. What was actually accomplished? The project it completed with 250 desks donated to 3 schools & a modern toilet built & handed over to a Mrugendra Anna Sultanpure Vidya Mandir

The donations have resulted in 600 students who used to sit on floor in their class rooms sitting on desks now. Also, 500 boys & girl students who used to urinate in open ground getting a decent toilet to meet their needs during the school hours.

c. When and where did the project take place, and who were the beneficiaries? The location of the schools are in Ichalkaranji. Following is the details: Toilet block was built at Mrugendra Anna Sultanpure Vidya Mandir

30 school desks were given to Mrugendra Anna Sultanpure Vidya Mandir

100 school desks were given to Adarsh Vidya mandir

60 school desks were given to Deshbhakta babasaheb Khanjire Bal Vidya Mandir

60 school desks were given to Night College of Arts & Commerce

� 1000 Students of a school are getting clean toilet facility

� It results in less absentees

In�reference�to�the�above�referred�Matching�Grant�project,�we�have�to�state�as�under:�

� The�grant�was�provided�for�250�school�desks�to�4�schools�&�a�toilet�block�at�one�of�the�

schools.�

� The�school�desks�available�at�the�quotation�rates�were�good.�But�we�found�that�we�could�

give�even�better�desks�to�the�schools,�if�we�got�them�fabricated�on�job�work�basis,�by�fixing�

labour�charge�&�purchasing�material�from�market.��

� The�result�is�excellent�benches,�which�are�not�available�anywhere�in�market�&�appreciated�

by�everyone.�The�schools�acknowledge�that�the�desks�would�last�them�for�more�than�20�

years!�

� The�toilet�block�was�built�at�Mrugendra�Anna�Sultanpure�High�School,�Ichalkaranji.�The�toilet�

was�built�by�calling�for�fresh�quotations�&�it�was�found�that�the�cost�was�coming�down�by�

almost�10%�if�we�gave�the�contract�for�labour�&�supplied�the�material�our�selves.�

Accordingly,�material�was�supplied�by�us�to�the�contractor.�The�toilet�is�fully�tiles�including�

walls�&�additional�cost�has�been�met�by�the�club�from�its�own�resources.�

� The�toilet�built�by�us�is�the�best�toilet�that�a�school�has�in�whole�of�Kolhapur�District�&�we�

have�applications�from�more�than�15�schools�for�toilet�blocks.��

� Similar�is�the�story�of�school�desks.��
