The scope of work for this transportation project involved the caulking and sealing of several control joints and seismic
joints with some minor caulking around existing light fixtures. Heroica Construction prepared for this unique type of work
by becoming certified installers by the manufacturer of “Emseal Seismic Joints.”
OVERVIEW
All of the project work took place at the RIPTA
transportation building and o�ces on Melrose Street in
Providence. In total, there were eight vertical seismic
joints approximately 27’ high and several smaller 1/2”
vertical control joints 27’ high. The Heroica Construction
team also provided caulking around doors, windows, and
utility penetrations for additional weatherization. The

final scope of work required power washing and
waterproofing the exterior masonry walls of the one story
administration building.
All of the caulking, sealant, and waterproofing work was
self-performed by Heroica certified employees.
