Project SHARE provides emergency assistance to Georgians who need help with basic necessities — housing, food, medical care and utility services. The program assists the elderly, the disabled, the unemployed, the sick and others who are experiencing financial hardship. Since 1985, Project SHARE has helped more than 1 million people throughout Georgia.

How does Project SHARE work? Clients in need apply for Project SHARE assistance at The Salvation Army office in their county. In those counties where The Salvation Army does not maintain offices, Project SHARE requests are processed by approved social service agencies. Eligibility requirements for Project SHARE recipients are set by The Salvation Army. Project SHARE is administered by The Salvation Army, and is funded by util ity customers who donate through their monthly bills. All contributions are forwarded to The Salvation Army and are allocated for assistance in your area. Project SHARE is, literally, Neighbors Helping Neighbors.

How can I help with Project SHARE? To participate in Project SHARE and become a part of the network of neighbors, you can pledge to contribute $1, $2, $5 or more each month. The amount you select will be automatically added to your utility bill. To enroll, simply contact the customer service department of your local utility or call 1-800-25-SHARE. You may also complete and mail the attached enrollment card.

What is Georgia Power’s involvement? The original partnership between Georgia Power and The Salvation Army has grown to include most of Georgia’s Electric Membership Corporations (EMCs), Gas South and many municipal utility companies. Each company provides an efficient means for customers to participate in Project SHARE by making it possible to include charitable donations with utility payments.

Georgia Power matches their customer donations up to $1,500,000 per year. Please join us in this unique corporate-charitable partnership providing service to your community. Your donation has the power to change lives.

To enroll, Georgia Power customers may call customer service at 1-888-660-5890 or visit georgiapower.com and look for Project SHARE under “Help and Support.” Customers can also call Project SHARE toll-free at 1-800-257-4273 or donate directly through salvationarmy.com.

What is Project SHARE?

“ I became a member of

Project SHARE because

it is one of the few programs

that we have where we are

able to double our efforts

at the local level. For every

dollar that we raise, our

partner in Project SHARE,

Georgia Power, provides a

matching dollar.”

– Bob RichardsAugusta business owner &

The Salvation Army board member
