WEST VILLAGE STREETSCAPE

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The West Village has vibrant shopping, entertainment and residential character. However, the area lacks sufficient pedestrian facilities and streetscape

elements to support this popular Buckhead destination.

This West Village Streetscape project will add sidewalks, pedestrian lighting, and street trees

to the area bound by Roswell Road, West Paces Ferry Road, and East Andrews Drive, as

well as new stormwater infrastructure along Roswell Road and East Andrews Drive.

CURRENT STATUS:

The West Village Streetscapes project was modified during the May 2019 board meeting and will now

include fixing stormwater issues along Roswell Road. The project’s original plans included enhancing

streetscapes. Buckhead CID is working with the City of Atlanta and Georgia DOT to provide the additional

funding for the stormwater solution. The design plans are 90% complete and an updated cost estimate has

been developed.

The plans have been submitted to the City of Atlanta, GDOT and all utility companies for review and approval.

Decides to expand the CID boundary to include the West Village area

Officially expands the CID boundary to include the West Village area

Hires transportation engineering firm, Kimley-Horn, to develop construction engineering documents in order to bid out to contractors

Adds to Kimley-Horn’s scope to include the investigation and ultimate design of storm water infrastructure along Roswell Road and East Andrews Drive

Approaches the Renew Atlanta Infrastructure program team about including monies from this program to go towards the construction of the infrastructure improvements in the West Village, which was ultimately denied
