In2002,ICAOdesignatedADS-Basa“KeyPriority”forimplementationwithintheAsia/PacificRegion.
IATA’spolicyrecognisesADS-Bas“thepreferredsurveillancetechnologytoreplaceradarfortheairtransportindustry”.Airlinescanexpectareturnontheirequipmentinvestmentintermsofsafety,efficiencyandtheincreaseofairspacecapacity.
FollowingtheestablishmentoftheCANSOAsiaPacificOfficein2008,CANSOandIATAagreedtoestablishaworkingrelationshiptopromote,facilitateandendorsetheimplementationofADS-BandthesharingofADS-BdatabetweenANSPswithintheAsia/Pacificregion.
