How long does Incognito treatment last?Depending on the complexity of the case a treatment lasts between two and 18 months.

What does the Clinical Advisor role for Europe involve?In addition to the treatment of my patients, I help and advise orthodontists worldwide to gain confidence in using the system by lecturing all over the world and trouble shooting. The role also involves being part of a fantastic team at the plant of Incognito in Bad Essen (Germany) to develop and improve the Incognito System.

D r Decker is currently undertaking his ‘Master of Advanced Studies in Lingual Orthodontics’ degree in Basel,

Switzerland and will be the first practitioner in the UK with this special advanced degree in lingual treatment.

Graduating as an orthodontic specialist from Freiburg University Clinic in Germany, Dr Steffen Decker has a special interest in invisible and discreet brace treatments especially Incognito lingual braces. He is one of the world’s leading orthodontists in Incognito and is a Clinical Advisor for Incognito™ Appliances in Western Europe and a member of the Global Advisory Board.

What drives you in your profession?The saying ‘the smile is the shortest distance between two people’ drives me every day when I am designing beautiful smiles, as I know how powerful they can be. I am extremely passionate about caring for my patients. I love being at the forefront of clinical innovation and design, and I love working with a complete digital workflow which is provided by the Incognito Appliance System. As Clinical Advisor I teach Europe-wide and meet the best orthodontists worldwide, so I can provide my patients with the best and most up-to-date knowledge and treatment.

What is Incognito and why is it different from other brace systems?Only 3% of the brackets put on teeth are placed on the inside of the teeth. The Incognito Appliance System is the only fully customised braces worldwide and therefore the most accurate, comfortable, discreet and quickest way to align teeth.

How many cases of Incognito have you done and is it suitable of everyone?I have been Clinical Advisor for the Incognito Appliance System since June 2015 and have been using the appliance since 2008. In addition, I will be qualified as the first UK Master of Advanced Studies in Lingual Orthodontics in August 2017. I know the system inside out and can treat every case with this system. I have completed over 500 cases and am currently the under the top 10 users worldwide.

It is suitable for every one of all ages?Yes it is. The only condition is that all adult teeth should be present. The biggest advantage for teenagers is that the risk of decay is 10 times lower compared with the standard buccal train track. For adult patients the biggest advantage is a completely invisible discreet way to align teeth
