How cartoons become discrimination:

• So how do we go from cartoons against

people to attempting to destroy another

culture and completely wipe it away from the

history books?

Ghetto

• Not the kind most people think of today… • “During World War II, ghettos were city districts (often

enclosed) in which the Germans concentrated themunicipal and sometimes regional Jewish population

and forced them to live under miserable conditions.Ghettos isolated Jews by separating Jewishcommunities from the non-Jewish population and fromother Jewish communities. The Germans established atleast 1,000 ghettos in German-occupied and annexed

Poland and the Soviet Union alone. Germanoccupation authorities established the first ghetto inPoland in October 1939.”

Life in the ghetto

The picture on the right shows how ghettos

were sealed off from the rest of a city by walls

up to ten feet high.

Nazis didn’t want Jews coming into contact with

the rest of a city or town.

How much are you allowed to eat?

If you kept your hand up

past 2 tacos, then you

would be very hungry in

a ghetto where peoplewere sometimes limited

to 300 calories a day.

That is about 1 ½ Taco Bell

tacos or 4 donettes ortwo cans of Coke.
