GCSE ADVANCED STUDY PROGRAMMEAt Shooters Hill College, we offer students aiming to be a part of our APEX A-Level programme the chance to achieve the desired grades via our GCSE advanced study programme.The course study options are pre-chosen to enable students to have the best possibility in achieving their desired grades and progress further with their academic or vocational studies.

Replicating that of a GCSE programme, the course is condensed into one year, which may appear challenging, but with the support and guidance of the staff and students at SHC, we will help you achieve your desired grades and move onto the next step of your academic journey.

This course is ideal for students that have equivalent grades from other countries, who need GCSEs for future education and employment. It is also ideal for students who may have missed out on their exams due to illness or unforeseen circumstances.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTSVOCATIONAL LEVEL 1 Students should have a range of GCSEs at grade 1 / 2. Entry will be heavily dependent on a successful interview

LEVEL 2 4 GCSEs grade 3 and above

LEVEL 3 5 GCSEs grade 9 – 4

Other courses, such as Art and Design, will require you to bring a portfolio of your work to your interview, along with your predicted grades.

A-LEVELFor all A-Level courses, 5 GCSEs at grade 9-5 are required. This includes both maths and English. Please see the A-Level section for more information.

APPRENTICESHIPEntries to our apprenticeships are dependent on an interview and success at our recruitment event.

If you need extra help with your learning, specialist staff from the Inclusive Learning Team will work closely with you to assess your learning needs, agree with you how best to meet them, and with your permission pass this information on to staff who can work with you.

SHC taster days allow you to gain a hands-on experience of your choice of course, and what life is like as a student at SHC. With activities like a climbing wall and archery taking place at lunch time, you can come along with friends to discover yourfavouritecourseandhavefun!

The days are broken down into different sessions to give you the opportunity to gain an accurate insight into different aspects of the course, as well as the chance to see what your time with us will be like.

Taster week takes place over the summer holiday, after you have completed all of your GCSE exams.

FITNESS SUITEOur newly built gym is fully furnished with free-weights, weight machines, cables, and much more industry-standard equipment.

Our provision for high needs has been graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted for the previous 3 inspections.
