1. PREFACE
The dream of establishing a Dental College at Chelad came true with the
heavenly touch of St.Gregorios of Malankara whose mission is to evolve a new
concept in community service with a vision to add new dimensions to social and
religious commitment. The sublime spirit of Christian life is ‘not to be ministered but
to minister’ in every sphere of life reaching out to the humble philosophy of life as
envisaged by our Patron Saint. St.Gregorios Dental College is the realisation of this
philosophy.
The college is run by Malankara Jacobite Syrian Christian Education Trust -
under the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church - a nonprofit organization, dedicated to
the pursuit of excellence in the realm of education. H.B.Baselios Thomas I
Catholicose is the Chairman of the Trust assisted by a team of renowned
professionals and educationists. There are four other institutions, evoking a positive
response to a new heritage, under the same management namely B.P.C. College
Piravom, B.P.S Arts & Science College Piramadom, P.I.Z. Training College Malecruz
and St.Thomas Arts & Science College Puthencruz.
The College is situated at Chelad 6 km away from Kothamangalam. The
college is easily accessible as it is 35 km from the Kochi International Airport, 35 km
from the Aluva railway station and 6 km from the National Highway. The sprawling
area has been converted into a delightful campus with well designed Buildings,
Pathways, Watercourses and Garden in a serene atmosphere. It enjoys the proximity
and facility of the Periyar Lake, Bhoothathankettu Dam and Idamalayar Project.
This Dental College named after Saint Gregorios of Malankara, is fully
committed to quality education promoting intellectual, spiritual and professional
excellence with special emphasis on human service. The college offers Bachelor
Degree in Dental Surgery with an annual intake of 40 students, affiliated to Kerala
University of Health Sciences, Thrissur. An excellent institute of dental sciences with
well-planned spacious College Building, Library, Hostels, Staff Quarters, Recreation,
Canteen, Seven well equipped Clinical departments and full team of well
experienced postgraduate teachers and paramedical staff. The Dental Specialty
Centre offers most sophisticated treatment in all specialties of Dental Surgery.

2. INTRODUCTION
a). St.Gregorios Dental College had decided to start selection procedure for
admission to BDS Course 2016-2017 form the NEET rank list, as per the
Consensual Agreement with the Government of Kerala entered on 05/09/2016
and the G.O.(Rt)No.2497/2016/H&FWD dated 06/09/2016.
b). This prospectus contains the rules and regulations for the selection and
admission to the BDS course in St.Gregorios Dental College, Chelad (PO),
Ernakulam (Dist), Kerala – 686681 affiliated to Kerala University of Health
Sciences with an annual intake capacity of 40 BDS seats. The procedures
conducted in accordance with this prospectus and the selection process pursuant
thereto, will be applicable for the academic year 2016-17 in 35% Management
Quota seats & 15% NRI Quota. The details of the college are given in Annexure
I. The distribution of seats are given in Annexure II
c). This prospectus is subject to modification / addition / deletion as may be
deemed necessary by the college management and also subject to further
orders, if any, passed by appropriate authorities/courts of law.
3. DURATION OF THE COURSE
The duration of the course shall be four and a half academic years from the date
of commencement of the course with compulsory rotatory internship for one year.
The date of commencement of the course and the last date of completion of
admission process will be as per the time schedule fixed by the Government of
India/ Government of Kerala/ Dental Council of India/ University/ Supreme Court
of India.
4. CRITERIA OF ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
4.1 Academic:
a) Admission to BDS seats under management quota is purely on the basis of
merit. The criterion to prepare the merit list is the marks obtained by the
candidates in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG-2016). Only
those candidates who secure 50% marks in the National Eligibility cum
Entrance Test, NEET-2016 will be considered for admission to BDS seats under
management quota.

b) Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of
Higher Secondary Education of Kerala or equivalent there to with 50% marks
for Biology separately and with at least 50% aggregate marks in the Physics,
Chemistry and Biology put together for the qualifying examination or as per
the specifications of the Dental Council of India. Each College will be free to fix
higher eligibility criteria.
c) Candidates who have passed the B.Sc Degree (Three year course) examination
with Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany or Bio-Chemistry as main and any
one or two of the above subjects as subsidiaries taken together subject to the
condition that they have passed Pre-Degree/Higher Secondary Examination,
Kerala or Examination recognized as equivalent thereto with Physics,
Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects are eligible.
d) In respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OEBC/OBC and other backward
classes the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in
the qualifying examination/entrance examination will be 40% instead of 50% as
above and must have qualifying marks in English.
e) The college shall be entitled to fill up 10% of the seats to children of staff,
Management and Trustees.
f) The college can apportion the seats to various categories or within the
community or denominations based on inter-se merit.
g) Rounding off the percentage marks to the nearest whole number is not
permitted.
4.2 Age
The applicant shall have completed 17 years of age on or before the 31st
December of the year of admission to BDS course. No relaxation of the minimum
age will be allowed.
4.3 Nativity
Only Indian citizens of Kerala Origin (Keralite) are eligible for admission.
Children or dependents of Non Resident Indians, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/
Overseas Citizen of India [OCI] will also be treated at par with Indian citizens for
the limited purpose of admission.

4.4 Character and Conduct
Candidates shall have good Character and Conduct. A certificate to this effect
shall be produced from the Head of the Institution last studied.
5. AFFIDAVIT
Affidavit/undertaking by the candidate and parent to pay the fees that may
be finally fixed by the college shall be submitted along with the application in the
format as given in Annexure III at the time of admission.
6. HOW TO APPLY
The candidates can submit the application online through the website of the
college http://www.sgdc.ac.in The candidates should remit an application fee of
Rs.1,000/- by way of DD favoring St.Gregorios Dental College payable at
Kothamangalam. The candidate who successfully completes the submission of the
application through online will get an acknowledgement. Any other mode of
submission of application is not allowed. The schedule of the application and
admission procedures is as follows.

7. ADMISSION
The admissions will be done purely on the rank list published based on the inter-
se merit of the applicants’ rank in NEET-2016. The rank list will be published on
the website of the college.

8. COUNSELLING/ALLOTMENT
8.1 Qualified candidates on the basis of order of merit will be called for counselling
and allotment.
8.2 Candidates who do not turn up for the allotment as per schedule, at the place
and time notified, will forfeit their chance for admission and will not be
considered for admission in future or arising vacancies, irrespective of the Rank.
8.3 Documents to be produced at the time of Counselling /Allotment process
i. Passport size photograph – 08 Nos
ii. Original Admit Card of entrance examination.
iii. Original mark lists of the qualifying examination.
iv. Original pass certificate of the qualifying examination.
v. Original Course Certificate.
vi. Original Character and Conduct Certificate.
vii. Original document (School Record ie. SSLC or equivalent) to prove date of
birth.
viii. Original Transfer Certificate from the last Institution.
ix. Eligibility/equivalency certificate for candidates who have passed the
qualifying examination from outside the state.
x. Vaccination Certificate against Hepatitis, Chicken pox and MMR
xi. Physical Fitness Certificate in the format given in Annexure IV obtained
from a medical officer in government service not below the rank of an
Assistant Medical Officer.
xii. Affidavit/undertaking by the candidate and parent to pay the fees as
given in Annexure (IV).
xiii. Any other documents mentioned in the counselling/allotment
notification.
8.4 Date of Joining and transfer
a) It is mandatory for the candidate to join the course on the date fixed at the
time of counselling, if selected.
b) If a candidate does not join the course to which he/she is selected or
discontinues the course after joining, his/her claim for admission for the
higher option shall be forfeited.
c) No extension of joining time shall be granted.

d) No allotment/transfer shall be considered after the last date of admission
prescribed by the court of law.
8.5 Genuineness of Certificates
a) If the Selection Committee of the individual institution has any doubt about
any certificates furnished by a candidate, such certificate shall be accepted
only if found genuine on further verification.
b) Admission even if granted shall be cancelled if it is found later that false
certificates had been produced or that the admission had been secured by
fraudulent means.
c) Candidate will not be given any chance to produce the original
documents/certificates after the time of allotment.
9. PAYMENTS OF FEES
a) The fee payable by the candidates at the time of admission is
Admission Fee : Rs. 1,000/- (One Thousand only)
Refundable interest-free deposit : Rs.5,00,000/- (Five Lakhs only)
Refundable caution deposit : Rs.10,000/- (Ten Thousand Only)
Yearly tuition fee (Mangement Quota) : Rs.5,00,000/- (Five Lakhs only)
Yearly tuition fee for NRI quota : Rs.6,00,000/- (Six Lakhs only)
b) All the candidates shall pay the fees prescribed by the institution at the time of
allotment.
c) Candidates admitted will have to pay tuition fee and other fees payable per
annum, for a total period of five years.
d) No exemption from payment of fees will be granted to candidate under any
circumstances.
e) The college shall be entitled to collect from every student admitted to the
college Caution Deposit, and other expenses and such other permitted
expenses. The college can also collect from students fees payable to
University, Government Fees, DCI Fees, Transportation charges, Examination
conducting charges, Practical class charges, Establishment charges, Sports and
cultural charges, Hostel Fees, Special Fess and other Statutory charges etc.
f) Students, at the time of admission, will have to give one year’s tuition fee as
interest free deposit which will be returned when the candidate leaves the
institution and furnish bank guarantee for the fees for the subsequent years.
g) All fee payable at the time of admission shall be paid by way of DD favoring
St.Gregorios Dental College payable at Kothamangalam.

10. REFUND OF FEES
a) The fees paid will be refunded to those candidates who leave the institution
on or before 23rd September 2016. The refund will be made within 30 days of
their request for the same.
b) If any candidate, who is admitted to the institution and decides to leave prior
to the last date of admission, stipulated by the University/DCI/any other
competent authority, he/she will forfeit the fees for that year. However, if that
seat is filled up by another candidate the whole fee will be refunded after
deducting 10% processing charges.
c) If any candidate discontinues/leaves the institution after the classes have
commenced in the 1st year or discontinues/leaves in the subsequent years,
he/she is liable to pay liquidated damages equivalent to the tuition fees for
the remaining years i.e. fees for the entire course. In such cases Transfer
Certificate and other certificates will be released only after the payment of fees
for the remaining years are remitted.
11. PROHIBITION OF RAGGING
a) As per direction of the Honourable Supreme Court order (SLP(C) no.
24295/2004 and SLC No 24296 - 2499/2004) and as per the Kerala Government
Circular (31787/K/C/206 dtd. 21.11.2006), ragging is strictly banned in the
institution.
b) Any person indulged in ragging in the past or it is noted later that he has
indulged in ragging, admission may be refused or he or she shall be expelled
from the institution.
c) Any person who directly involved in the act of ragging, if proved may get an
imprisonment up to two years and a fine up to Rs.10,000/.
d) Any person punished for ragging will be expelled from the institution.
e) At the time of admission, both students and parents together should furnish
an affidavit to the effect that the students shall not indulge in ragging.
12. OTHER ITEMS
a) Medium of instruction/examinations throughout the course will be English.
b) Uses of mobile phone by the students are not allowed during class hours of
the institutions. Violation of the rule will lead to strict disciplinary actions by
the authorities.

c) The certificates and other records submitted along with the application must
be attested by a gazetted officer or the Head of the Institution where the
applicant has studied last.
d) At the time of admission, the Principal or the head of the management will
prepare a list of the certificates and other records and the same will be kept
and made available to the authorities for verification.
e) If an applicant is denied admission to the course, it is the duty of the
authorities to explain the reason for the refusal of admission to the applicant.
f) The details of counselling related to the admission will be intimated to the
student after the publication of the rank list.
g) All candidates who get admission shall get themselves vaccinated against
Hepatitis, Chicken Pox and MMR before admission. A certificate to this effect
shall have to be produced at the time of admission/commencement of the
course.
h) Every student is required to adhere strictly to the code of conduct and
dress code of the institution.
i) Permission will not be granted for transfer to other institutions during the
course of study (Order No. AC II/1795/Regulations/KUHS/2011 dated 22-
12-2011)
j) Any grievances/ complaints regarding selection and admission can be
brought to the notice of the Coordinator of Admissions as well as to the
Director / Principal of the college, within 24 hours of occurrence of the
grievance.
k) Any other items not specifically covered in this prospectus will be decided by
the undersigned, and his decision will be final.

The First among us is the parent of the second among us. We are submitting
an application for admission to BDS course 2016-2017, for the second among us. We

are aware that the fees tentatively fixed for the BDS Course is not final one. We do
hereby undertake to pay the said fee that may be finally fixed by the college in
pursuant to the government of Kerala direction or by the court of law and we seek
admission only on the basis of this undertaking. We do hereby undertake that if the
candidate discontinues/leaves the institution after the classes have commenced in
the 1st year or discontinues/leaves in the subsequent years, he/she will pay
liquidated damages equivalent to the tuition fees for the remaining years.
We further agree that, if admitted and in case we do not abide by the above
