PROSPECTUS FOR ADMISSION TO MBBS COURSE 2016
Introduction: The Academy of Medical Science (ACME), Pariyaram, Kannur District, established on
17-11-1993, is a society registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 with its
registered office at Pariyaram. The main objective of the society is to organize and conduct
graduate and post graduate courses, training in modern medicines, pharmacy, nursing and
to provide research facilities for carrying on research in all systems and disciplines of
medical and surgical knowledge keeping in view the socio medical and socio economical
needs of the state of Kerala and to provide, encourage, initiate or promote facilities for
research improvement or development of new methods or equipments of diagnosis,
understanding, prevention and treatment of diseases. The Academy has to function in close
collaboration with the Kerala State Co-operative Hospital Complex and Centre for Advanced
Medical Services Limited (KCHC). Accordingly the Academy offered medical, dental, pharmaceutical, nursing and
paramedical courses and imparted respective quality education in Medical science since
1995, Dental science since 2004, Pharmaceutical science since 2003, Nursing since 2002 and
Paramedical science courses since 2006 Pariyaram Medical College is the institution which
conducts medical education under ACME This prospectus for admission to MBBS degree course 2016 which is subject to
the approval by the Admission Supervisory Committee appointed by the Govt. of Kerala is
published herewith. Any change in the prospectus, if made by the Admission Supervisory
Committee shall be published in the website of the institution soon. The prospectus contains
general information, rules and regulations relating admission under management open
quota 2016 and entrance examination and admission under Non Resident Indians (NRI)
quota 2016 of MBBS. The prospectus overrides all the prospectuses of the previous years’
MBBS prospectuses published by the institution 2. Duration of MBBS course: Duration of MBBS course is 4 1/2 years and house
surgeon-cy (compulsory rotating resident internship) is 12 months 3. Seats: The Medical Council of India sanctioned 100 seats to the Academy vide
their order No. V 11015/2/2002/ME-policy -1 dated 09-07-2002. This sanction has been
renewed vide their order No. 349410 GG/2010 KER-656219 dated 18-01-2011. Of these 100
seats, 50 % (50 seats) are reserved for the State Merit(SM) students allotted by the
Commissioner of Entrance Examinations and the remaining 50 % (50 seats) to the students
under Management quota. Of the 50 management seats, 35 goes to Management open
quota and 15 to Management NRI quota.

4. Eligibility criteria for admission: Indian citizens only are eligible for admission to
MBBS course. Persons of Indian origin (PIO) and overseas citizens of India (OCI) will also be
treated at par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission. The applicant should
have passed higher secondary examinations of the board of Govt. of Kerala, CBSE, CISCE or
other equivalent examinations recognized by the Govt. of Kerala. He /She should have
secured 50% marks in the qualifying examination in Biology/Bio technology separately and
50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio technology put together. Applicants who
have passed their qualifying examinations from any place other than the state of Kerala shall
produce a certificate of its recognition and equivalency in the state of Kerala and Migration
certificate. a) Management open quota: Management open quota seats are earmarked for
students who have qualified and secured rank in the Entrance Examination conducted by
the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2016. Allotment of seats will be made on
the basis of inter-se merit of the applicant who had applied under this quota. b) NRI quota: Those who apply under NRI quota should satisfy all the conditions
stipulated in GO (MS) NO.34/2013/H & FWD dated 05-02-2013 and GO (MS) No.243/2014/H
& FWD dated 06-08-2014 of the Govt. of Kerala regarding NRI status. NRI applicant is he/she
who depends upon his/her father /mother/brothers and sisters (inclusive of first
cousin)/husband/ wife/brothers and sisters (inclusive of first cousins) of father or
mother/half brother/half sister/Adopted father/ Adopted mother working abroad. Separate
application is required for considering admission under Management open quota and NRI
quota. NRI entrance examination will be conducted and the rank list published by the
Admission Supervisory Committee of the Govt. Applicants seeking admission under NRI
quota should produce the following certificates/ documents apart from other
certificates/documents required for management open quota applicants except certificates/
documents mentioned at Para 7 (2) and 10 (4).
1) Copy of Passport and Viza attested by the respective Indian Embassy/ Consulate.
2) If the Viza is not stamped, employment certificate duly attested by the respective
Indian Embassy/ Consulate.
3) Sponsorship certificate.
4) Relationship Certificate.
c) Age: The applicant should have completed 17 years as on 31st December 2015.
No relaxation in the age limit is allowed. 5. Method of selection: Selection under management open quota will be on the
basis of inter-se merit of the applicant who has applied under management open quota.
Similarly selection under NRI quota will be based on the rank secured by the applicant in the
entrance examination conducted by the Admission Supervisory Committee of the Govt. The
ASC will conduct this exam, the date and venue of which will be intimated/ published
shortly. The list of shortlisted candidates will be published on the College Notice Board and
also in the institutional website. 6. Fees: Fees for Management open quota and NRI quota will be as fixed by the
Govt. subject to approval by the Admission Supervisory Committee/Fee Regulatory

Committee. The same has not been finalised so far. Fees consented/ agreed at the time of
admission shall be paid within the stipulated time every year. Refund of fees will be made to
students who leave the college on cancellation of admission on or before the last date
prescribed for Govt. allotment. Such refund will be paid only after the closing of the
admission. No interest will be paid to such claimants.
a) Liquidated damages: If any candidate discontinues after closing of admission
to join other courses/colleges or for other purposes, he/she is liable to pay liquidated
damages equal to that of the total fees for the entire course. Liquidated damages shall be
levied irrespective of annual income of the family. Legal action under Revenue Recovery Act
shall be taken to recover the damages in case of failure to remit the liquidated damages. The
applicant and his/her parent shall execute a bond in stamp paper worth for Rupees 500/ -,
to the effect that they agree to pay liquidated damages, in Annexure IV
b) Special fees: Special fees applicable shall be paid at the time of admission
itself. Students getting admission will be insured in group against illness, accident etc and
annual premium thereon will be collected at the time of admission and also every year. 7. How to apply: Application forms may be obtained from the office of the
Principal, Pariyaram Medical College on payment of prescribed fees on all working days from
10 a. m to 5 p.m. from 20-05-2016. Application form can be downloaded from the Academy
website www.mcpariyaram.com. also. The cost of application form for Management open
quota is Rs. 3000/- and for NRI quota is Rs. 5000/-. Downloaded application form should be
accompanied by its fee of Rs. 3000/- or Rs. 5000/-as the quota may be by Demand Draft
payable to the Principal, Pariyaram Medical College. Separate application is required for
separate quota. The filled in application form should reach the Principal, Pariyaram Medical
College, Pariyaram, Kannur – 670503 at or before 5 p.m. on 15.06.2016 by registered post or
speed post or in person or by messenger. The applicant should obtain acknowledgement
from the College Principal’s office for such submission of application. Following
certificates/documents shall be enclosed along with the application form.
1) Demand Draft as mentioned above being the cost of application form.
2) Self attested Admit card and score card of the of the entrance examination conducted
by the Commissioner of Entrance Exams.
3) Self attested copy of the mark list of qualifying examination.
4) Self attested copy of relevant page of SSLC/CBSE/CISCE/other equivalent exam,
Certificate to prove the date of birth and age.
5) Attested copy of Nativity Certificate issued by a Revenue Authority not below the
rank of a Village Officer in Annexure I
The applicants shall produce the originals of attested copies of certificates/
documents mentioned above at the time of counseling/selection.
Belated or incomplete or defective applications will be summarily rejected. 8. Counseling / Selection and Admission: Counseling will be held at the College for
selection and admission of students to the course. The selected candidate may join the
course on that date itself, if he is prepared to pay the fees and special fees and submit all
essential testimonials/documents. However he is at liberty to avail 3 more days to remit the

required fees and ensure confirmation of admission. Failure in payment of required fees
within the time limit mentioned above will result in cancellation of admission. Part payment
of fees will not be accepted. The date of counseling will be intimated by e-mail to the short
listed candidates as well as published in the institutional website. Important dates that are
to be borne in mind are furnished in Annexure V. 9. Cancellation of admission: A candidate can cancel his admission and leave the
course/institution for which such student should give a requisition in writing to the said
effect to the Principal at least on or before the last date fixed by the Govt. for their
allotment. For accepting a merit seat of the Govt., one can leave the course /institution
within 2 days after the last date fixed for Govt. allotment. In such cases refund of fees will be
made as mentioned in Para 6 of the prospectus. 10. Other essential certificates/documents to be produced at the time of
counseling/selection and admission: Following are the essential certificates/ documents
that are to be produced at the time of counseling/selection in addition to those mentioned
in Para 4(b) (applicable to NRI) and Para 7. Certificates/documents for which formats have
not been prescribed specifically may be obtained from the concerned in a correctly narrated
way.
1) Transfer Certificate from the institution last attended and Conduct Certificate.
2) Certificate of recognition and equivalency in the State of Kerala and Migration
Certificate as mentioned in Para 4 above, if applicable.
3) Physical Fitness Certificate in the prescribed format given in Annexure II
4) Mark Data sheet of the entrance examination
5) Vaccination certificate against hepatitis, MMR and chickenpox
6) Joint undertaking as per the provisions of anti-ragging verdict by the Hon’ble
Supreme Court of India in Annexure III
11. Verification of documents: The Principal shall be personally responsible for
verification and satisfaction of the correctness of the records produced by the candidates at
the time of admission. 12. Residential accommodation: Available accommodation will be provided to
students subject to the terms and conditions of the institution. Preference will be given to
those who hail from outside the home district. 13. Sports activities: Students may actively participate in the sports and games
activities of the college as well as of the University. 14. PTA: The institution has an active Parent Teachers Association to which the
parents of the beginners may also extent their considerable contribution. Parents should
feel free to interact with the teachers quite frequently so as to enable the formers’ wards to
perform well in their studies. 15. Redressal of grievances: Grievances/ complaints if any regarding
selection/admission may be brought to the notice of the Principal of the College/ Director of
the Society/Academy for taking remedial measures promptly.

16. Discipline: Selected and admitted students should obey the rules and
regulations of the institution strictly. Failure to observe absolute discipline will attract
stringent disciplinary action. 80% attendance is compulsory in each academic year for both
theory and practical separately. Students should wear prescribed uniform with name plate
exhibited on the chest during class time. They are expected to wear respectable dresses. Use
of mobile phone is prohibited at nearby premises of the hospital, class rooms, lecture halls,
practical class locations, libraries etc. Smoking, consumption of alcohol and use of psycho
tropic substances are totally prohibited. The students should pay adequate attention in
neatness and cleanliness and sincerely cooperate with the authorities in maintaining a
healthy environment in the campus. 17. Malpractices: Malpractices of any sort for securing admission are nothing but
illegal. If a candidate is found to have indulged in malpractices at any time, his admission will
be forfeited followed by initiation of criminal proceedings against him. 18. Ragging: As per Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act 1998, ragging is a criminal
offence. Ragging means doing of any act by disorderly conduct against a student of an
educational institution, which causes or likely to cause physical or physiological harm or
raising apprehension or shame or embarrassment to that student and includes teasing or
abusing or playing practical jokes or causing hurt to such students or asking a student to do
any act or to perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course be
willing to do. Whoever commits, takes part in or abets, aids, or protects a student indulged
in ragging within or outside the campus shall be liable for deterrent disciplinary proceedings
coupled with criminal action. The institution has to abide by the directives of the
Honorable Supreme Court of India dated 16th May 2007 in SLP No.(s) 24295 of 200, SLP (C)
No. 24296-99/2004 and WP (Crl) No. 173/2006 & SLP(C) No. 14356/2005. Every student and
his parent/ guardian have to submit a joint undertaking at the time of admission in
Annexure III which is mandatory for getting admission. The Principal shall take all the
preventive and anti-ragging measures and ensure strict enforcement of the law against
ragging. 19. General: All concerned should read this prospectus carefully and comply with
the instructions scrupulously. Disputes pertaining to the examination, selection and
admission, if any, shall fall within the jurisdiction of the Hon’ble High Court of Kerala. Any
other items not specifically covered in this prospectus will be decided by the Principal in
consultation with the Management of the Academy and his decision will be final.
