Spiral Guard

Spiral Guard is a light weight product that is a cost effective way of protecting your hoses and cables from abrasion and impact. Because of the expanding nature of the product it is possible to wrap individual hoses as well as bundles of hoses in a loom. The product has been designed with rounded edges for ease of fitment and no sharp edges means no chance of cutting the hose.

Colours and Sizes

Spiral Guard is available in a wide range of sizes. From SGX12 (12mm) for use on electrical looms through to SGX110 (110mm) for use on hydraulic hose looms. Colours include Black and Yellow on all sizes and Red and Blue are available as a stock item up to SGX50.

Resins

Spiral Guard resins are medium molecular weight, high density polyethylene copolymers that offer excellent combination of toughness, stress cracking esistance, load bearing strength and processability characteristics. The other applications of these resins include; household and industrial containers for chemicals, automotive supplies, foodstuffs, toiletries and cosmetics. With this in mind, you can see that this product is safe to handle and poses no risk to persons handling this product.

Flame Retardant

Along with the standard product we offer two MSHA approved alternatives of spiral guard. These are Flame Retardant (FR) and Flame Retardant anti static (FRAS). The product specifications for these are the same as our standard product. The FRAS product was developed with the underground coal mines in mind, but its anti static capacity is welcomed by the oil and gas producers and distributors. International Compliance include standards required in underground coal mines (EN ISO 6805) with tests 8030 and 8031. Flame retardant Spiral Guard™ with it’s distinguished domed centre and rounded edges, is the most effective way to prolong the life of hoses and hose assemblies, thus reducing downtime and premature failure of essential hoses. Flame Retardant (FR) and Flame Retardant Anti-Static (FRAS) give you the opportunity to “Product Match” your hose wrap requirement to your valuable Flame Retardant Anti-Static and Flame Retardant hoses. Spiral Guard Flame Retardant and FRAS both meet or exceed the standards required in underground coal mines (EN ISO 6805) with tests 8030. Continuous research and development of flame retardant production with leading mining companies and O.E.M’s ensure safety standards are met and product development are in line with Industry requirements. Spiral Guard is available in conductive (FRAS) and non conductive (FR) form.

Burst Buster is a sleeve diffusing product designed to divert oil in a hydraulic hose assembly failure. Now a requirement under MDG41 for underground coal mines the product prevents high pressure oil injections into operators. Burst Buster is a Woven Polyester Tube manufactured from dope-dyed flame retardant yarn complete with anti-static. Burst Buster can be utilised in a large variety of Mining and Quarying applications including drilling, excavators, trucking, long wall operations, loaders, electrical cables, blast hole rigs, jumbo rigs, etc.

A knitted E-type fiberglass sleeve with a coating of high-temperature silicone rubber. Provides excellent burn-through protection from molten metals, flames, welding splatter, slag, sparks and environmental contaminations. Temperature Range of -50ºC to a continuous exposure of 500ºF / 260ºC, molten splash at 2200ºF / 1205ºC for periods up to 15 minutes and short excursions to 3000ºF / 1650ºC. Typically used to protect hydraulic hoses, pneumatic lines, electrical cables, control wiring, welding calble, electrical arc furnace cables,etc.
