Meet-and-greet at Addis Ababa airport & transfer to your hotel.Start the day looking down on Addis Ababa from Entoto Mountain, the capital ofEthiopia before Addis Ababa. You will enjoy panoramic views of the city with fresh airfrom the eucalyptus forests. Here you will visit the Entoto Maryam church and museum.After the visit, proceed down to Addis Ababa via Shiro Meda, the city’s largest marketfor traditional clothes.

Proceed to the campus of Addis Ababa University to the ethnographical museum, withgreat displays of the many cultures of Ethiopia, housed in the former palace of HaileSelassie.

Continue with a visit to the National Museum, where Ethiopia’s oldest resident, Lucy, ishoused.

Close to the National Museum is the Selassie (Trinity) church, one of the most importantchurches of Addis Ababa and the final resting place of Haile Selassie, to whom there isa dedicated museum on site.

Finish the day with shopping in merkato, the local marketplace which is said to beAfrica’s largest open-air market.Lunch at Lucy Restaurant, located just next to the National Museum.Dinner at local restaurant or hotel.Overnight at Harmony Hotel.

Transfer out to the airport in Addis Ababa.Domestic flight Addis Ababa to Axum.Domestic flight Addis Ababa to Axum (discounted).Meet-and-greet at Axum airport.Lunch at local restaurant or hotel.Today will be a full day visiting the sites of Axum, including the famous obelisks (one thatwas recently erected after being returned from Italy) and the archeological museum,the Queen of Sheba’s Bath (which supplies water to Axum year-round), Ezana’senscription, King Kaleb’s tomb, King Bazen’s tomb, and the Queen of Sheba’s Palace.You will also visit the St. Mary of Zion church, where the Ark of the Covenant is kept.Men only are allowed to visit the old church. Unfortunately, no one (except one speciallychosen guardian monk) is allowed to enter the chapel where the Ark is kept. Hike, by foot or by mule (about 2 hours), to the Asheton Maryam monastery, set on themountain overlooking the town of Lalibela. The hike will take you through local villages,offering a look into the lives of the people of Lalibela. The monastery is said to beconnected to Na'akuto La'ab Monastery (lower and closer to Lalibela town) by anunderground tunnel.Lunch at Ben Abeba Restaurant, with stunning views of the local landscape.Visit the Southeastern Cluster of churches – Bet Gabriel-Rufael, Bet Merkorios, BetAmanual, and Bet Abba Libanos. Depart south to Bahir Dar. The water levels in the fallscan vary depending on the season and per use of the local power station. The walk is apleasant one, where you are sure to get a look into the lives of the local residents.
