You + 3M ESPE =A formula for success
2
You + 3M ESPE =A formula for success
On this we will never compromise: when you choose 3M ESPE, you will get quality that goes beyond “product quality.”
This commitment begins with 3M ESPE people, both those you see and those you don’t. We take great care to hire highly trained employees who recognize the power of collaboration with colleagues and customers. These people are then given continuous education in the real world, so their efforts in developing, producing and introducing new products help you achieve a higher level of comfort, safety and quality in your work.
In addition, stringent quality controls are in place throughout our product development process, from determining the necessity and value of a proposed product, to acquisition of raw materials, selection of suppliers, production and, ultimately, delivery of that product to you.
The term quality may be overused. But its importance at 3M ESPE cannot be underestimated. As important and fundamental as our uncompromising approach to quality is, at 3M ESPE it is only one aspect of earning and keeping your trust.
An Organization-wide Commitment to Quality
Quality in writing. 3M ESPE Certifications:
Since 2003 ISO 14001 – Environmental Management System
Since 1999 OHRIS – “Occupational Health and Risk Management System”
Since 1994 ISO 9001 – Quality Management System – quality assurance in the fields
of design, development, production, assembly and maintenance, and EU
Directive on medical products

For more than a century, people around the world have looked to 3M for new products and ideas that solve problems and make their lives easier and better. Today, in fact, more than 6,500 3M research and development employees are working with 45 technology platforms to expand on the company’s track record as a global source of innovation. Scientists from all around the company are able to draw on these corporate technologies as springboards to meet customers needs and solve their problems.
As can only happen here, 3M technologies come together in countless combinations that lead to innovative, new products. Products that are simple to use, yet complex enough to help make the world healthier, safer and better.
3M ESPE is no exception. Combining the nely tuned 3M product development engine with ongoing insight from dental practitioners around the world has enabled us to bring a number of rsts to dentistry. Among them, the rst-ever tooth-colored restorative material, the rst self-adhesive resin cement and the rst automated mixing of impression materials and cements. Advancements that truly have made a difference.
And there’s more to come. As you continually seek to improve patient care, you can expect 3M ESPE to be steadfast in its commitment to help you pursue that goal.
Ingenious Thinking That Produces Practical Solutions
Knowledge You Can Use, Information You Can Trust Near constant advances are being made in the eld of dental materials and techniques. To help you stay ahead of the changes, 3M ESPE developed Espertise™ brand educational programs that include the latest news on products, and dental industry trends and techniques.
Espertise programs allow for a two-way exchange of knowledge and information between clinical researchers, material scientists and you, the chairside professional. Our goal is to provide independent, objective information on the most recent innovations and trends in dentistry, the latest material developments and scienti c research results. Equally critical, it’s a forum for sharing how things work in your everyday world. Experienced specialists esteemed for their pro ciency in theory and practice are regularly invited to solicit insights on the business from both dentists and 3M ESPE people.
In simple terms, Espertise programs and materials help you learn from experts, and help 3M ESPE learn from you. We both bene t from the experience.
Together for a successful future, sincerely
Dr. Rodrique Rizk Business Development Manager3M ESPE Middle East and Afica

Full contourCAD/CAM RestorationSoon, dentists will be able to prescribe a Lava™ Zirconia DV Crown. Using this system, labs can design and produce an anatomically designed veneer with all the precision of the Lava™ CAD/CAM system. Plus, with glass ceramic blocks in enamel colors and fusion porcelains in dentin colors, the final full contour restoration is more esthetic than the single-layer made with pressable ceramics.
Lava Zirconia Restoration, porcelain work created with the Lava Digital Veneering S stem.
LavaChairside Oral Scanner C.O.S.3
Digital ImpressionA breakthrough in digital imaging
that offers precise-fitting restorations, greater patient comfort
and fewer time-consuming stepsfor both labs and dentists.
At 3M ESPE, we’ve already spent more than a decade developing digital solutions for dentists, labs and milling centers. We’ve spent even longer asking customers what makes sense and what doesn’t. We know how one decision relates to another, in your workflow.

models so they can confidently move from conventional wax
up design to virtual design. The system is an integral part of
the Lava™ CAD/CAM system for Lava™ Zirconia. It can also be
used to design wax/resin patterns and laser-sintered metal restorations for selective
third-party devices.
CAM ManufacturingProductivity is redefined in this machine,
which can run up to 76 hours straight. Offers both 3- and 5-axis milling.
Works with multiple materials including Lava Zirconia, wax and glass ceramic
blocks that are part of the Lava™ Digital Veneering System.
Sintering ProcessThe high-temperature, high-speed furnace for Lava Zirconia copings and frameworks has different sintering programs for Lava Zirconia. This gives labs the flexibility to sinter overnight or throughout the work day.

Lava™ CeramOverlay Porcelain
Lava CeramThe system’s own overlay porcelain called Lava Ceram is exactly tailored to the CTE (coefficient of thermal expansion) of the zirconia framework. This enables a permanently tension-free material bond. The demand for high aesthetics of an all ceramic system is taken into account with a comprehensive range of components. The fluorecent components will result in a natural and brilliant colour. With the innovative effect and opalecent transpa porcelains, restorations can be obtained which are almost impossible to discern from natural teeth in the mouth. Even with a standard layering scheme, an exact and reliable colour shading can be realized. Individualization possibilities are given with the magic intensive shades and the transpa porcelains. For perfect shaping of interdental and occlusal regions, very thin layers can be added. The colours are adapted to the Vita* Classic colour system.

Excipients:Sodium sulphite (E 221) 0.6 mgSodium chloride, Water for injections, Hydrochloric acid 14%and Sodium hydroxide solution 9% for adjusting the pH-value
CLINICAL PARTICULARS
Therapeutic indicationsUbistesin 1/100000Local anesthesia (infiltration and nerve-block anaesthesia)in dentistry.Ubistesin 1/100000 is especially indicated for complicated procedures requiring prolonged anaesthesia.
Ubistesin 1/200000Local anesthesia (infiltration and nerve-block anaesthesia)in dentistry during minor procedures.
Contraindications
The use in children under 4 years of age is contraindicated.Ubistesin is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the active substances, sodium sulphite (221) or to any of the other excipients.
Due to the local anesthetic ingredient articaine, Ubistesin is not allowed to be used in the event of– known allergy or hypersensitivity to local anesthetics of the
amide type– severe impairment of the impulse initiation and conduction
system of the heart (e.g. grade II and III AV block, pronounced bradycardia)
– acutely decompensated cardiac insufficiency– severe hypotension– patients who are known to have a deficiency in plasma
cholinesterase activity– haemorrhagic diatheses – particularly with nerve-block
anaesthesia– injection into an inflamed area
Due to the content of epinephrine as a vasoconstrictor admixture, Ubistesin is not allowed to be used in the event of– Heart diseases such as:– unstable angina pectoris– recent myocardial infarction– recent coronary artery bypass surgery– refractory arrhythmias and paroxysmal tachycardia or high-
frequency, continuous arrhythmia– untreated or uncontrolled severe hypertension– untreated or uncontrolled congestive heart failure– concomitant treatment with monoamine oxidase (MAO)
inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants
Due to the content of sulphite as excipient, is not allowed to be used in the event of– allergy or hypersensitivity to sulphite– severe bronchial asthmaUbistesin can provoke acute allergic reactions with anaphylactic symptoms (e.g. bronchospasm).
Special warnings and precautions for use
Ubistesin must be used with particular caution in the event of– severe impairment to the renal function– angina pectoris – arteriosclerosis– considerably impaired blood coagulation – thyrotoxicosis
– narrow-angle glaucoma– diabetes mellitus– lung diseases – particularly allergic asthma– pheochromocytoma
Accidental injection may be associated with convulsions, followed by central nervous system or cardiorespiratory arrest. Resuscitative equipment, oxygen, and other resuscitative drugs should be available for immediate use.
Since amide-type local anesthetics are also metabolised by the liver, Ubistesin should be used with caution in patients with hepatic diseases. Patients with severe hepatic diseases are at greater risk of developing toxic plasma concentration.
The product should be administered with caution in patients with impaired cardiovascular function since they may be less able to compensate for functional changes associated with the prolongation of A-V conduction produced by these drugs.
The product should be administered with caution to patients with history of epilepsy.
There is a possibility of positive results on doping tests performed on sportsmen.
It should be taken into consideration that during treatment with blood coagulation inhibitors (e.g. heparin or acetylsalicylic acid), an inadvertent vasopuncture when administering the local anaesthetic can lead to serious bleeding, and that in general the hemorrhagic tendency is increased.
Inadvertant intravascular application must be avoided
The lower blood flow in the pulp tissue due to the content of epinephrine and thus the risk to overlook an opened pulp has to be taken into account regarding cavity or crown preparations.
This medicinal product contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per 1 ml, i.e. essentially “sodium-free”.
The product must be used with particular caution in patients taking phenothiazines or non-selective beta-blockers.
Precautions for use:
Each time a local anaesthetic is used the following drugs/therapy should be available:
– Anti-convulsant medicines (benzodiazepines or barbiturates), myorelaxants, atropine and vasopressors or adrenaline for a severe allergic or anaphylactic reaction.
– Resuscitating equipment (in particular a source of oxygen) enabling artificial ventilation if necessary.
– Careful and constant monitoring of cardiovascular and respiratory (adequacy of ventilation) vital signs and the patient’s state of consciousness should be monitored after each local anaesthetic injection. Restlessness, anxiety, tinnitus, dizziness, blurred vision, tremors, depression, or drowsiness may be early warning signs of central nervous system toxicity.
Pregnancy and lactation
For Ubistesin non clinical data on exposed pregnancies are available. In regard of articaine animal studies do not indicate direct or indirect harmful effects with respect to pregnancy, embryonal/foetal development, parturition or postnatal development. Animal studies carried out with epinephrine have shown reproductive toxicity. The potential risk for humans is unknown. Caution should be exercised when prescribing to pregnant women.
It is unknown whether articaine and epinephrine is excreted in human breast milk. The excretion of articaine and epinephrine in milk has not been studied in animals. A decision on whether to continue/discontinue breast-feeding or to continue/discontinue therapy with Ubistesin should be made taking in to account the benefit of breast-feeding to the child and the benefit of Ubistesin therapy to the women. Therefore, nursing mothers should milk and discard the first mother’s milk following anaesthesia with articaine.
Effects on the ability to drive and use machines
Although test patients have shown no impairment of their normal reactions when driving a vehicle, the dentist has to assess in each case the possible impairment of safety when operating a motor vehicle or machinery. The patient should not leave the dental office earlier than at least 30 minutes after the injection.
Undesirable effects
Due to the local anesthetic ingredient articaine, the following adverse effects can occur
Cardiovascular disordersRare ( 1/10,000 to < 1/1,000)Decrease in heart rate, hypotension.Drop in blood pressure, cardiac impulse conduction disorders, bradycardia, asystolia, cardiovascular arrest.
Nervous system disordersRare ( 1/10,000 to < 1/1,000)Metallic taste, tinnitus, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, restlessness, anxiety, yawning, shaking, nervousness, nystagmus, logorrhoea, headache, increase in respiratory rate. Paresthesias (loss of sensation, burning, tingling) of the lip, tongue, or both. When these signs appeared rapid corrective measures to prevent possible worsening are required:Drowsiness, confusion, tremor, muscle twitching, tonic-clonic seizures, coma and respiratory paralysis.
Respiratory disordersRare ( 1/10,000 to < 1/1,000)Tachypnea, then bradypnea, which could lead to apnoea.
Allergic reactionsVery rare (< 1/10,000)One may observe manifestation of hypersensitivity to articaine as rash, pruritus edema, pruritus, and erythema as well as nausea, diarrhea, wheezing or anaphylaxis. Cross-reactivity to articaine has been reported in a patient with delayed hypersensitivity to prilocaine. In general, patients with demonstrated hypersensitivity to articaine or other amides should receive an ester-group local anaesthetic for subsequent procedures. The administration of large doses of articaine may produce methaemoglobinemia in patients with subclinical methaemoglobinemia.
Due to the content of epinephrine as a vasoconstrictor admixture, the following undesirable effects can occur
Cardiovascular disordersRare ( 1/10,000 to < 1/1,000)Heat sensation, sweating, heart racing, migrainelike headache, blood pressure increase, angina pectoris disorders, tachycardias, tachyarrhythmias and cardiovascular arrest as well as acute oedematous thyroid swelling.
Due to the content of sulphite as excipient, the following undesirable effects can occur in very rare cases:Allergic reactions or hypersensitivity reactions, particularly in bronchial asthmatics, which are manifested as vomiting, diarrhoea, wheezing, acute asthma attack, clouding of consciousness or shock.
Due to the content of both articaine and epinephrine, the following undesirable effects can occur
Nervous system disorders2 weeks delayed onset of facial nerve paralysis has been described with articaine/epinephrine, the event still occur 6 months later.

MEPIVASTESIN™
Active substance: Mepivacaine hydrochloride
COMPOSITION
1 ml solution for injection contains:Active substanceMepivcaine hydrochloride 30 mg
ExcipientsSodium chloride, Water for injections
CLINICAL PARTICULARS
Therapeutic indications
Infiltration anaesthesia and nerve-block in dentistry.MEPIVASTESIN is indicated for simple extractions as well as cavity and stump preparations. MEPIVASTESIN is especially suitable for patients to whom vasoconstricting additives are contraindicated.
Contraindications
Due to the local anesthetic ingredient mepivacaine, MEPIVASTESIN is not allowed to be used in the event of– known allergy or hypersensitivity to local anesthetics of the
amide type– severe impairment of the nervous impulses and conduction
system of the heart (e.g. grade II and III AV block, pronounced bradycardia)
– acutely decompensated cardiac insufficiency – severe hypotension
Special warnings and special precautions for use
MEPIVASTESIN must be used with particular caution in the event of– severe impairment to the renal or hepatic function– angina pectoris – arteriosclerosis – injection into an inflamed area– considerable impaired blood coagulation
Please note that with patients taking anticoagulants (e.g. heparin or acetyl salicylic acid), an inadvertent vascular puncture during injection may lead to severe hemorrhage, and the hemorrhage disposition is generally increased.
Erroneous intravascular application must be avoided.
Pregnancy and lactation
PregnancyThere are no clinical studies regarding the application of mepivacaine hydrochloride during pregnancy. Animal studies have not provided adequate insights in view of possible effects of mepivacaine hydrochloride on pregnancy, embryofetal development, childbirth and postnatal development. Mepivacaine hydrochloride passes the placental barrier and reaches the unborn child. As compared to other local anesthetics, when using mepivacaine during the first trimester of the pregnancy an increased risk of malformations cannot be excluded, during early pregnancy mepivacaine should only be used, if no other local anesthetics are available.
LactationIt is unknown in which doses mepivacaine hydrochloride reaches the breast milk. If its application is necessary during lactation, breastfeeding may be resumed after about 24 hours.
Effects on the ability to drive and use machinery
In sensitive patients, the injection of MEPIVASTESIN may be followed by a temporary impairment of reactions, e.g. in traffic. The physician must decide from case to case whether the patient should be allowed to operate a motor vehicle or machinery.
Not all products of this catalogue are available in all countries.
Undesirable effects
Due to the local anesthetic ingredient mepivacaine, the following side effects can occur from the use of MEPIVASTESIN:Milder central nervous symptoms involve metallic taste, tinnitus, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, restlessness, anxiety, initial increase in respiratory rate.More severe symptoms are drowsiness, confusion, tremor, muscle twitching, tonoclonic spasms, coma and respiratory paralysis.Severe cardiovascular episodes are seen in the form of a drop in blood pressure, asequence, bradycardia, cardiovascular arrest.
Allergic reactions to mepivacaine are extremely rare.
