In the club house as you enter the front door to your right is the lost and found box attached to the wall. If you lost something it might be there. If you find something place it there. Everything is all in one spot.

Arts & Crafts Renovation is coming within our group. With diverse talent in our midst and all the wonderful new residents who have come into our village so far this year; we are seeing new faces curiously entering the clubhouse on Thursdays at 1pm. There is an excitement stirring in the air as fall is upon us. That “aha” moment when you pull out that project you never had the time to complete with a too-busy lifestyle. We expect a different atmosphere within the craft group now with our newly retired.  We will have small simple and large dramatic projects. New ideas are com-ing to the table. Repurposing some items made in past sessions by our membership, and now donating our time and talents this coming winter season to enhance each other’s lives. I bring in a small knitting project I’ve never been able to finish, the reason being, there is always something brought in more interesting to do. Presently we are looking for people who know how to use the cricut. Don’t miss an opportunity, come in for a visit. We meet each Thursday at 1 pm.

Social Association News The long hot, humid summer is now a thing of the past, but we will still have nice weather so we can all enjoy the activities planned for November. At each koffee klatch, I notice a few more snowbirds have arrived.  Pretty soon, the Village will be “normal,” whatever normal is.... As you read through the bulletin, make note of the activities that are available for your pleasure. The Social Assoc. is sponsoring a “DISCO NIGHT” on November 21st.  Our resident dj, Robin, is providing all the music from the disco era. It should be a fun night. Prizes will be given out for best dressed disco person or couple and other surprises.  For only $2 if you buy your ticket before the event or $3 at the door. You can’t beat the price. Dust off your HOT PANTS, GO GO BOOTS and come and have some fun. In closing remember, Sometimes the best way to stay out of trouble is to take a nap.

We will also be looking for volunteers to help put up street flags and the flags around the clubhouse-exact date to be announced. Men’s Golf Hello, my fellow golfers. Well, the frost is getting on the pumpkin and it is time for our summer travelers to start their winter trip to the beautiful state of Florida. I know some of you have already reached your winter home and can’t wait to get started on keeping busy in our very active community. By the time you read this my wife and I should be at our home and getting our calendar ready for all the activities that will be going on. I know our golf club will be working hard getting things started on our winter program. Scott will be setting up our weekly schedule at Lansbrook for our Wednesday play, Mark will be busy setting up Monday play at Tarpon Springs, and we will also be scheduling all of our work to be done in the village that we will be involved in. I am very much looking forward to rekindling friendships with all of our members and getting ready for our monthly tournaments that are scheduled by Steve Andrew, with Jack Rossi planning the wonderful meals for us after the monthly events. I sincerely thank all of these men for doing what they do for the benefit of all of us. I wish every one of our members a very safe trip and for all of you to have a wonderful season this year. Don’t forget to shoot six, yell fore, and write down five.

Andy Ripic, President

Boat Club News Welcome, all the neighbors in Lake Tarpon Village. We will start off the month of November with a Triple BANG !! We will have a directors’ meeting on Thursday the 5th in the card room at 10 am. Friday the 6th, we will have our first club meeting in the clubhouse start-ing at 9:30 for coffee and donuts and 10:00 for a short meeting. Saturday we will have our Welcome Back Party in the clubhouse to sign up seasoned members and new members. The party will begin at 12:00 until 2:00 for sign ups and saying hello to friends we have missed over the summer. There will be subs and chips and drinks for all the people and plenty of music to get the blood flowing and the dancing underway. The Boat Club is the largest social club in the village and we are looking to increase the membership this year to an all time high. You do NOT need to own a wa-tercraft to join. This year we will be very busy with many, many activities and don’t forget that to be eligible for all the activities you must be a member in good standing. Looking forward to seeing all our neighbors... Bill Osborne, Commodore of the Lake Tarpon Boar Club Fill out the application in the monthly bulletin and give it to Marie Breen at the general meeting or the Welcome Back Party.

November 2015 - Village of Lake Tarpon “The Bulletin” - Page 15

President’s MessageBob duBois Welcome, November! Welcome back to the many returning snowbirds! Welcome to a season of fun in the Village of Lake Tarpon! The very busy events schedule at the Village swings into full force in November. The Veterans Day celebration, followed by their dance really signals the start of a very busy season. November also brings us the HOA Budget Hearing. This very important meeting is scheduled for No-vember 19th at 5pm in the Village Hall. The tentative budget should be in the hands of owners. Also in that packet was the executive summary of the reserve study the HOA Board authorized to be completed back in April. This study will be discussed in length at the November Board meeting following the budget hearing. The discussion will begin with a presentation by Margery Schultz from GAB Robbins. The Board will then ask the questions they may have. I then will open up the meeting for the audience to ask any questions they may have. Please keep in mind this document is a projection of potential maintenance projects the Board may, at some time, need to finance. It certainly is not a list of must does. This document will also help guide the Board in decisions they need to make regarding the monthly HOA fee after the mortgage is paid off. We have been back for a month now. I have been asked several times already what we are going to do about people speeding in the Village. I have noticed many cars going way over the speed limit past our home. I am asking that everyone PLEASE obey the speed limits and stop signs. We have several visually impaired residents and I hope they can be safe from speeding cars and golf carts. I also have been asked about pets being walked in no pet zones and pets being allowed to do their busi-ness on other people’s lawns. If you have pets please observe the Village rules. Lastly, the hours of the Village clubhouse have been questioned. The general usage is 8am to 9pm at which time our closing volunteers lock the building. Only planned scheduled functions will be allowed to remain in the clubhouse after the time of closing. Individuals or non-scheduled groups will have to leave at 9pm. This is NOT a change from current policy. It is just a reminder for all. I hope all are enjoying their time in the Village. Please check the Bulletin for activities and events. Enjoy!

Marney’s Corner Welcome! The Lake Tarpon Village Welcome Committee wel-comes each new household to our neighborhood and provides an information packet about all of the wonderful attributes of our Village. We are so delighted you have chosen Lake Tarpon Village as your new home and hope your will stay here for many years. In the last 40+ years our friendly Village has grown to a mini-city of 507 manicured homes. To most of us our home is the largest monetary in-vestment in our lifetime. When my husband John and I bought our home at the corner of Lexington and Sa-lem, we bought the lifestyle Lake Tarpon Village offers as well as buying into the neighborhood. John and I have been in the real estate world for over forty years and know how important it is to have a neighborhood that people want to move into which in turn keeps property values up. Next month in Marney’s Corner we have been asked by a neighbor if we can discuss some inexpensive ways to brighten up a home adding to property value as well as pride of ownership. We would like to hear from you, our neighbors, with ideas you may want to see in our monthly column. And…if you are a new resident and have not received a welcome packet, please call or send me an email. Marney’[email protected]

Library Committee The library committee is requesting that if you borrow books, when you return them, please put them in the return box. This library is for the pleasure of all of our residents, so if you borrow a book, BRING IT BACK. Please note: NO HARDCOVER BOOKS OR MAGAZINES SHOULD BE LEFT IN THE LIBRARY. We can not accommodate them. We also wish to ask all who move furniture into the library area for more space for their function to return it to where it was originally.

Thank you, The Library Committee
