A number of owners responded and the Board reviewed the comments at the May Board of Directors Meet ing. Upon review of the comments the Board has declared these chill wa ter control valves to be "high risk components" pursuant to the au thority granted to the Board under Section 4 of Article X of the Yacht Harbor Towers By-Laws. YHT maintenance is currently in specting these units at the same time as their annual coil cleaning service. Maintenance will also continue to inspect these compo nents upon each quarterly a/c ser vice, BUT in-house maintenance will no longer be performing the work as a reimbursable expense. Should maintenance's inspection of this component determine that the unit is not (cont., col 2) Richard Port, President Richard Gordon, Director H. The office will provide you, as it always has, a letter advising of re pairs that should be made. This letter identifies a number of compa nies that you may consider that can perform the repair. The letter also explains that other reimbursable work will still be performed by YHT maintenance, if you desire. EXIT LIGHTS Your Board has authorized an other energy cost savings pro ject. Hawaiian (cont., col 3) Board of Directors Richard Guy, Vice-President Ruth Rittmeister, Director Lei-Jayne Lee, Director ( cont., col 2) Electric Company has approved our application for a rebate to con vert our exit lights to LED fixtures and lamps. HECO's rebate for this conversion amounts to a 75% savings to the Association. Currently there are two 25 watt incandescent lamps in each fix ture, and there are a lot of fixtures. By converting to LED, the new wattage used for each fixture will be 4 watts versus the current 50. JUNE AGING IN PLACE On Friday, June 15, Jake Moore, nurse practitioner specializing in geriatrics, will speak to us on behaviors of dementia patients and how to effectively interact with those individuals. Jake, who trains those who work with demen tia patients, will present a re alistic and compassionate view of the behaviors exhib ited by dementia sufferers. HIGH RISK COMPONENTS

Last month a letter was sent to all

tenance Fees, Monthly ParkingRental and/or Storage RoomRental billings paid directly fromeither their Bank checking or savings account. Then payments willautomatically be made monthlywhen due. Thereafter you will nolonger have to worry about writing a check, buying stamps andhaving to mail it.

TRASH CHUTE

CLEANING

Your Board has authorized a con

tract to clean our trash chutes and

trash rooms. Notices will be

posted informing our residents ofthe schedule. During the cleaning,the trash chute for each tower will

be closed. We ask your cooperation during this period. Please bagyour trash before putting it downthe chute. Odor problems arecaused by poorly wrapped trash.Food and greasy particles coverthe trash chute wall and eventuallycreate an odor problem.

MAY AGING IN PLACE

On Friday, May 18, residents heardLaura Manis, long-time elder issuesadvocate, speak to us (cont., col 2)

(cont., col 1)on the successes and challengesof the 2007 legislative session.She spoke about the OmnibusPackage which supports familycare giving and projects into thefuture to better meet the needs of

our aging population, the drugrebate bill vetoed by the Governor but overridden by the Legislature, reinstallation of the healthinsurance rate oversight andother issues.

MORE ON PRVs

Last month we incorrectly informed you that the pressure reducing valves within certainunits would be rebuilt and those

units would be notified shortly.What our article should have

said was that the common areas

of the high-zone potable watersystem would be rebuilt and notwithin the units. Repairing orreplacing these PRVs in thecommon areas is just the firststep.

The report from Cedric Chongand Associates included another

recommendation that certain

units should have PRVs installed

on the potable water of both thehigh and low zones of both towers. The purpose of all this is toequalize the water pressure inthese zones.

The Board has requested thatCedric Chong prepare the specifications for the installation of

these pressure reducing valves(PRVs) for potable water withincertain units of both the high andlow zones of both towers, to obtain bid proposals, to providetheir recommendation on the
