INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION 1. Owing to the nature of this three-hour examination, it is important to note that you

will NOT be permitted to leave the examination room before the end of the examination period.

2. Type your name and surname in the header of EVERY document that you create

or save. 3. The invigilator will give you a disk containing all the files needed for the

examination OR you will be told where the files can be found on the network or computer. If a disk has been issued to you, you must write your name and surname on the disk. If you are working on the network, you must follow the instructions provided by the invigilator.

4. A copy of the master files will be available from the invigilator. Should there be

any problems with a file, you may request another copy from the invigilator. 5. This question paper consists of FOUR questions. 6. Answer ALL the questions. 7. Ensure that you save each document using the file name given in the question

paper. Save your work at regular intervals as a precaution against possible power failures.

8. Read through each question before answering or solving the problem. Do NOT

answer more than is required by the question. 9. An completion of the examination you must hand in the disk given to you by the

invigilator with ALL your answer files saved onto the disk, OR you should make sure that ALL the answer files are saved on the network/ computer as explained to you by the invigilator/educator. Make absolutely sure that all files can be read. Do NOT save unnecessary files/folders and do NOT hand in duplicate answer files/folders.

10. The information sheet that has been provided with this question paper MUST BE

COMPLETED AFTER THE THREE-HOUR EXAMINATION SESSION. Hand it to the invigilator at the end of the examination.

11. During the examination you may make use of the help functions of the programs

which you are using. You may NOT use any other resource material. 12. Unless instructed otherwise, you must use formulae and/or functions for ALL

calculations in questions involving spreadsheets. Use absolute cell references only where necessary to ensure that formulae are correct when you copy them to other cells in a spreadsheet.

13. If data is derived from a previous question that you could not answer, you should

still proceed with the questions that follow.

14. In all questions involving word processing, you should set the language to English (South Africa). The paper size is assumed to be A4 Portrait, unless instructed otherwise.

15. Use centimetres as the unit of measurement when answering this question paper. 16. Alternative instructions for candidates using LibreOffice are given in cases where

they differ from the instructions for candidates using Microsoft Office. 17. Generally one mark is allocated per action. Therefore a two-mark question would

usually require TWO actions et cetera. 18. The examination folder/data disk that you receive with this question paper will

contain the folders and files listed below. Ensure that you have all the files before you begin this examination.

SCENARIO Your principal is busy changing the documentation and arrangements for the registration day of the Grade 8 learners in August. He asked you a CAT learner to be part of the committee that will assist him with the following: • Creating an information sheet and application form. • Collecting and processing information of each learner • Maintaining a database of the learners • Managing electronic files and folders

QUESTION 1 - WORD PROCESSING The principal asks you to edit the following information sheet and form that will be issued to the grade 8 learners. Open the document 1Form_Vorm. 1.1 Insert any type of cover page for the document. The document title

must be Churchill High School. (2) 1.2 Change the paper setting to A4-portrait. (1) 1.3 Change the left margin to 2 cm (1) 1.4 Locate the WordArt with the text Churchill High School on the first page

of the document. Modify the WordArt as follows to resemble the screenshot.

Apply the Wave 1 shape to the WordArt Place the WordArt at the top of page 1 on the left side without

overlapping any other objects on the page, and across the width of the page. (4)

1.5 Find the text 'What is School Choice?' on page 1 and change it to the

Title style. (1) 1.6 Change the logo to illustrate the different school choices as follows:

(1) 1.6.1 Flip the Pentagon shape horizontally.

1.6.2 Insert the picture Government.png into the logo. (1) 1.6.3

Insert a textbox at the top of the Government.png picture. Add the text 'Government' inside the textbox. (2)

1.8 Change the numbered list under 'The South African education system

consists of three types of schools’ to a bulleted list, using the * (Webdings 71) as a bullet. (2)

1.9 Replace all occurrences of the words 'Model B' with 'Model C' and

highlight the word 'Model C'. (2) 1.10 Modify the style Heading 1 to apply the text effect All Caps. (2) 1.11 Change the application form as follows:

1.11.1 Locate the text 'Surname' and 'Full names' and apply a solid leader tab

at 8 cm so that lines are created to fill in the details, as shown in the example below.

(3) 1.11.2 Insert a table on the right hand side of the heading 'Date of Birth'.

Make the following changes:

1.13 Insert a page border around the Application form on the last page and

center this page vertically. (3) 1.14 Apply automatic page numbering to the document as follows:

Insert the page numbers in the header. Start the page numbering on the second page with number 5. The uneven page numbers must appear on the left and the even numbers on the right of the page. No page numbers must appear on the last page.

QUESTION 2 - SPREADSHEET The principal ask you to edit the following information sheet and form that will be issued to the grade 8 learners to register during an open day event in August. Registration fees are R180 per learner annually. He requested that a CAT learner must be on the committee to effect the changes as follows: Open the document 2 Learner Detail_Leerder Data. 2.1 Insert a blank row above row 1. (1) 2.2 Put in a heading LEARNER DETAILS in row 1. (1) 2.3 Merge Cells A1:S1 and centre the text vertically and horizontally across

the new merged cell. (2) 2.4 Wrap the text in Row 2 and change the text alignment to 45°. (2)

2.5 Show the gridlines in the spreadsheet. (1) 2.6 Change the row height of the whole spreadsheet, excluding the

headings to 18 pt. (1) 2.7 Add Conditional Formatting to Column S so that cells with a value of

more than R120 will have a Red Fill colour, and cells with a value of less than R100 a Green Fill colour. (4)

2.8 Sort the spreadsheet according to the cities, in descending order. (2) 2.9 Freeze row 3. (1) 2.10 In cell T3, use a formula to calculate the amount the learner still owes. (2) 2.11 In cell C34 – C37, calculate the number of learners in each grade. Make

use of absolute cell reference. (4) 2.12 In cell D39 determine the difference between the total Amount Paid and

the total Outstanding Amount. (3) 2.13 In cell D41, determine the total amount owed by Grade 8C learners. (4) 2.14 Insert a new column between Grade and Teacher and name it T-shirt. (2) 2.15 If a learner who registers is in Grade 8 A, the principal will give him/her a

blue t-shirt, otherwise the learner will receive a green t-shirt (the word “Blue” or “Green” must appear in the column). Make use of an appropriate function to determine the colour of the t-shirt each learner receives in the column T-shirt. (4)

2.16 Use the data in cells H33 – I34 and create a column chart. Make the

changes as instructed so that the chart looks similar to the example.

Open the database “3Learners_Leerders” and do the following: 3.1 Use the table “Students” to do the following: 3.1.1 Rename the Field Name “Telephone” to “Cell Phone”. (1) 3.1.2 Insert a primary key in the appropriate field. (2) 3.1.3 The data type for the Field Name “Telephone” must be changed to an

appropriate data type. (2) 3.1.4 Field Size for Gender must be 6. (1) 3.1.5 The “First Name” and “Surname” of each learner should be displayed in

upper case. (2) 3.1.6 Sort all records in the table according to Surname in Ascending Order. (3)

3.1.7 “Landline Phone” field must be required. (1) 3.1.8 The default value for the Gender field must be “Female”. (1) 3.1.9 The grade for each learner consists of a Number, then space followed

by a letter indicating class. Use an input mask to enter the Grade for each learner in the table. (3)

3.1.10 Make use of a Validation Rule in the Gen field so that the letters “M” or

“F” are displayed. Insert your own Validation Text when a typing error is made. (2)

3.1.11 Insert a new row below the row with Anderson Wayne. Type Cairns for

the surname and Donald for name, the Landline phone should be 011 721 5524. (2)

3.1.12 The principal wants to know the average amount outstanding by the

learners. Calculate that amount under the column heading “Amount Outstanding”. (2)

3.1.13 Make use of a drop down box at the Grade field. (3)

3.2 Create a query named qrystud based on the table Students to show all

Females who have paid R100 or less. The query must show only the headings “First Name”, “Gender”, “Telephone” and “Amount Paid”. (4)

3.3 Create a query named qrygrade to show all learners who are in either

“Grade 8A” or “Grade 8C”. The fields, “Name”, “Grade” and “City” should be shown. Sort the query according to the city in descending order.

QUESTION 4 - GENERAL The principal has created a draft version of a document that he wishes to send out. Open the 4Admission_Toelating document. 4.1 Format the shaded text under the headings 'Application Forms' and

'Required Inclusions' into two columns to look like the example below:

NOTE Use a word processing function so that the heading 'Required Inclusions' always appears at the top of the second column. Insert a line between the two columns. The spacing between the two columns must be 1 cm.

4.2 The principal saved the school fees in a text file

4Schoolfees_Skoolfonds. He ask you to insert this document as a linked icon below the heading School fees. (2)

4.3 An organogram is inserted in the document. Add a shape 'Gr 12' in the

diagram as shown below.
