2nd Project

”Virtual travel through the American Museum of Natural History”

You have to plan your work and get the information you need. Only if you follow the instructions you will be a professional adventurer.

OBJECTIVES:

Along this unit you are going to learn: 1. How to look for the most proper information, to select it depending on the conditions given

and to express it correctly. 2. How to describe animal characteristics. 3. Specific vocabulary related to animal, such as:

a. Classification: mammals, insects, reptiles… b. Customs, feeding…

4. How to talk about animals without reading a text. 5. To organize your work 6. To answer specific questions related to the project :

a. ¿Have you got a pet? b. Tell us something about circus animals. c. What is the character you like best in the film “Night at the museum”? Why? d. Can you describe a…?

2. “VIRTUAL TRAVEL THROUGH THE AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY”

ACTIVITIES:

To watch the film “Night at the Museum”

To navigate through the official site of the American museum of Natural History

To choose the most appropriate itinerary for these groups:

o An single student of antique History o A family of four members: mother, father and two

young children of seven and nine years old. o A small group of Secondary students who have to

investigate about dinosaurs. o A group of foreign scholars who can’t speak

English, visiting USA. o A group of Secondary students from New York on a

day trip. o A just married couple on their honeymoon.

Suggestions:

1. You will have to select the most suitable program depending on the characteristics of the given groups.

2. You can decide a program of more than one day (up to three days long). 3. The Museum offers a wide range of activities. You can choose those of simply watching or

complete the itinerary with interactive activities, such as watching films…

3. “TALK ABOUT YOUR PET”

ACTIVITIES:

You will have to talk about your pet: scientific classification, customs, cares, feeding, vaccination…

If you don’t have a pet you can choose a circus animal.

SUGGESTIONS:

You can bring a photo of your pet or a video.

4. DISEÑANDO CARETAS DE ANIMALES:

Deberás confeccionar una careta

con la imagen del animal que elijas. Tu profesor/a de Plástica te ayudará en esta tarea.

5. PERFOMMING THE SOUNDTRACK OF THE FILM, LION KING MUSIC

You will listen to the soundtrack of the film: “The lion King”,then, you will perform it with your flute. Your Musical Education teacher will help you.

6. WE ARE ANIMALS

In groups you will feel as real animals. You wil have to

investigate about a specific animal and you will immitate its

behaviour.

You can ask for help to your Physical Education teacher.
