PARALIGN®
The parallelity of rollers or cylinders is
very difficult to measure using conven-
tional optical methods. PARALIGN® is
an inertial measuring system that, for
the first time, can achieve accuracies of
up to 4 µm/m or 0.00027° with its three
orthogonal laser gyroscopes.

Company objectiveThe objective of PRÜFTECHNIK AG is the development, production, sale and service of electronic measuring and testing systems.
Organizational structureThe PRÜFTECHNIK Group has the organizational form of a manage-ment holding company. It consists of the holding managementlevel, the central departments within the holding and the various
business units. The holding management has final responsibility forfinancial and, above all, strategic leadership to ensure the continueddevelopment of the group as a whole and of the individual businessunits. Close customer tiesMaintaining close customer ties is one of our primarygoals. Therefore we have built up a tight sales and servicenetwork that allows us to provide the best possiblesupport and services to our customers in the semi-finishedproducts industry and in the maintenance sector forrotating systems. We work closely with distributors in over60 countries around the world.
In addition, we have founded sales and service companiesin a number of countries:

To us, being close to the market is more than just a slogan. It’s a commitment.
That’s why our sales organizations in countries across theglobe regularly offer customer training programs, in manycases in well-equipped training centers. It’s also whyPRÜFTECHNIK provides highly specialized and qualifiedservices throughout the world - especially in the areas ofturbine alignment, planning, installation, commissioningand operation of condition monitoring systems, and in themeasurement and alignment of rollers. In Germany alone we operate four technical offices inwhich highly-qualified sales engineers make every effort to
provide customers with solutions tailored to meet theirspecial requirements. A capable service departmentcomplements these efforts by offering expert customersupport in the area of machine diagnostics. To carry out these complex tasks responsibly, it is essentialthat sales departments, machine services and productservices be organized at the local level, that they be finelystructured, and that employees, having been thoroughlytrained, are well qualified to master whatever situationmay arise on the job.

3. Tradition and the future
Dieter Busch founded PRÜFTECHNIK Dieter Busch + Partner GmbH& Co. in 1972. From the very start it was his aim to provide industrywith highly innovative products that would contribute to animproved quality of life for the industry workforce. The newlyestablished company first acted as a marketing company for metaldetectors and bearing testing equipment. In the initial years, itcontinually diversified its range of products while never losing sightof its objective – the maintenance of a high degree of innovation.Eddy current testing equipment, leakage testing equipment, infrared pyrometers and bearing monitoring devices rounded outthe product range. It didn’t take long, however, before the qualityof existing eddy current testing equipment no longer met growingcustomer demands – and the company founder’s expectations.
Consequently, PRÜFTECHNIK developed its own eddy current testerand, in 1977, EDDYCHEK® LAB 2 was presented with great fanfare. The cornerstone for the development of our own equipment andsystems had been laid. LAB 2 went on to become extremelysuccessful, so much so that, apart from the technical offices inGermany, agents could be engaged on the international front, thrusting PRÜFTECHNIK directly onto the global stage. It took onlytwo years before an additional ‘product line’ was established: Withthe development of the inductive bearing assembly device, the new‘maintenance technology’ branch was launched.Throughout the years, PRÜFTECHNIK has continued to remain trueto its principles of innovation and customer benefit as it has
developed new products. Always seeking out pioneering technolo-gies, we have developed a whole range of devices and systems thatmake work easier for our customers around the world. Devices suchas OPTALIGN® – the first laser-optical shaft alignment system – havegiven us a worldwide name for excellence.

EDDYCHEK® 5
Defects in tube, bar or wire can have
fatal consequences (think of the brake
line in a car). Eddy current testers such asEDDYCHEK® detect the smallest defects
while they are still on the production
line, and grades them for sorting.
1976 First eddy current testing device with a modulardesign for the nondestructive inspection of semi-finished products.
1977 First eddy current testing device with micropro-cessor-based signal processing.
1980 First microprocessor-driven induction heater for
mounting bearings.1981 First alignment computer for shaft alignment withan LCD graphic display.
1982 First high-performance induction heater for largebearings.
1983 First laser-optical shaft alignment system.1985 First eddy current rotating system with a coaxial
construction.1987 First laser-optical coordinate measuring system for
four degrees of freedom.1988 First computer-driven eddy current testing device
with multi-frequency/multi-channel capabilitiesfor defect testing of semi-finished products.
1989 First multifunctional measuring device with asoftkey user interface, insertable program andmemory cards, and insertable hardware modulesto allow configuration of the hardware asrequired.
1990 First optical 5-axial sensor that evaluates a laserbeam simultaneously in five degrees of freedomand transmits the results to a computer via awireless IR system.
1991 First ‘tandem piezo accelerometer’ for vibrationand shock pulse measurement.
1991 First diagnosis and measuring system for rotating
machines; capable of alignment assessment, vibration analysis (FFT), balancing and machinediagnosis.
1992 First ‘intelligent sensor‘ for vibration, bearing andcavitation measurement.
