Active Soft Pearls™
Illustration of conventional scrubbing agents under the electron microscope.
Peter Greven presents a revolutionary new heavy duty cleaner designed to remove the toughest grease, grime and dirt without using aggressive scrubbing agents or harsh solvents. Utilising Peter Greven’s newly developed Active Soft Pearls™ (ASP) dirt removing agent, heavy duty skin cleaner is proven safe for the user and safe for the environment.
Peter Greven’s innovative cleaning technology provides outstanding cleaning strength without damaging or drying the skin. The microfine ASP™ support the cleaning effect of the tenside combination by utilising a polar surface structure which is able to bind greasy dirt particles creating a dual cleaning process unlike many common or abrasive scrubbers. The soft-smooth hydrogenated castor oil pearls clean and remove dirt particles without mechanical abrasion leaving the skin clean and healthy even when washed multiple times per day.

Restoring the skin to its natural state of health helps prevent dermatitis and skin disease and promotes an overall Healthy Lifestyle.Skin that’s continuously exposed to harsh chemicals, abrasive materialor drying elements becomes depleted of its natural moisture and integrity. Damaged or dry skin becomes a weakness to the body, allowing contaminants to penetrate the skin. Prevent possible body harm or illness by restoring the skin to its natural state through the regular use of an after-care product.

In a study of 22 electrolyte brands, Sqwincher® scored highest on the number of delivery formats.

QUALITY INGREDIENTS
ENDORSED BY PROFESSIONALS
“Sqwincher® as a preventative therapy, tastes great, is scientifically formulated and will aid in the effects of dehydration.”
Jo-Anne Coleman, Registered Nurse
“An outstanding feature of the Sqwincher® range of products is that they contain some of the lowest sodium contents on a per serve basis of any product in the market. This is an important benefit for any individual who wishes to maintain good hydration whilst managing a low sodium outcome in their daily dietary regime.”
Peter Skarshewski, Food Technologist, Food for Thought Consulting.
“Portion Pack Foods Ltd has supplied a variety of flavours of Sqwincher® electrolyte drink powder to the Australian Defence and other emergency service organisations for the last 7 years and it has been a readily accepted and well liked product.”
Gillian Steel, CEO, Portion Pack Foods Ltd
Sqwincher® was introduced into our Steelmaking plant in mid-2000 with better than anticipated results. Since this introduction, there has not been one reported incident of heat exhaustion/fatigue, or work related collapse, remembering the conditions can be extreme during summer. Due to the varied packaging it is possible for even the most mobile of workers to have Sqwincher®on hand anytime, anywhere. The results are not only in the reported injury stats, but also in the workers. Based on these facts, Sqwincher® is an important asset on the production/maintenance lines.”

Q: Why do I need electrolytes? Why can’t I just drink water?
A: Human sweat is composed of water and essential nutrients called electrolytes. When you sweat your body loses fluid and electrolytes – both need to be replaced.
During high intensity activity and/or extreme environmental conditions the body sweats at very high rates and cannot replenish fluid and electrolytes fast enough. Under these conditions, drinking water alone can lead to an electrolyte imbalance leading to symptoms such as muscle cramps and dizziness.
Q: How much Sqwincher® should I drink?
A: Our standard recommendation is one standard serve every fifteen minutes under periods of sustained strenuous activity.
Under the Australian and New Zealand Food Standards Code (FSANZ) Sqwincher® is classified as a food, not a medicinal product and as such Sqwincher® can be consumed without a prescribed dosage.
Q: Sqwincher® sugar – free has no sugar, can Diabetics consume it safely?
A: Sqwincher® is a food product and is formulated to provide hydration to manage fluid loss and dehydration. Sugar free Sqwincher® contains no sugar and is prepared to contain no calorific value. Diabetes however, is a medical condition and must be treated in accordance with medical advice from a qualified medical practitioner.
To find out if Sqwincher® is safe for you medically, please consult a physician. For a complete list of ingredients and nutritional panels, please refer to the back of the pack.
Q: Sqwincher® has Sodium. Can I consume too much Sodium?
A: Excessive Sodium is detrimental to health. That is why Sqwincher® has been formulated with safe levels of Sodium. According to research conducted by a leading Food Technologist, out of 52 electrolyte beverages reviewed, Sqwincher® had one of the lowest levels of Sodium recorded.
Q: Sqwincher® has Potassium. Can I consume too much Potassium? Can it cause kidney stones?
A: According to the National Health and Medical Research Council, the recommended intake for Potassium for men is 3,800 mg/day and for women 2,800 mg/day. To put this in perspective, approximately 1 litre of Sqwincher® made from Sqwincher® Qwik Stik mixes to give 180mg of Potassium which is a fraction of the daily intake. In comparison one small banana can contain on average 467mg of Potassium. Sqwincher® Qwik Stik contains Potassium citrate, which according to the Mayo Clinic is actually a treatment for the removal of kidney stones resulting from a condition called renal tubular acidosis.
Q: Is Magnesium required for effective hydration?
A: Research indicates that significant quantities of Magnesium are not lost whilst sweating from strenuous activity. According to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) it is unlikely that the addition of Magnesium in an electrolyte drink will enhance hydration goals or reduce cramping.
Q: Are Amino acids required for effective hydration?
A: Amino acids collectively are also known more commonly as protein, which is found in most foods. The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) reviewed 11 research studies into the addition of protein in electrolyte drinks. According to the AIS the benefits of consuming protein during exercise on performance, are contentious.
FAQs
WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY“To any athlete who pushes their body to the limits and understands the importance of hydration and electrolyte replacement I recommend including Sqwincher® products as part of your nutritional plan.”
Emma Coman-Jeffries, Triathlete, Winner QLD Triathlon Series 2011, 2010
“For the first two weeks I was in hospital three times. I wasn’t drinking enough water; I was only consuming 600mL of water a day. I was severely dehydrated. I had cramps, headaches and I felt drained and run down. I was losing lots of salt as well, my clothes started turning white and I started getting rashes. I had to go on a saline drip when I was in hospital. I was about to head home because I wasn’t surviving up there, however, I was recommended to use an electrolyte replacement drink called Sqwincher®. Sqwincher® really saved my life. It fixed everything - I no longer had headaches, cramps or nausea. Its great and I still use it today.”
Stephan Thelan, Mine Site Worker, Port Hedland, Western Australia
“I have struggled to drink water over the years, but realise the importance of hydrating for top performance. Sqwincher® makes hydrating a treat; not only has a great taste but has other added benefits like electrolytes, without the sugar.”Monty Betham, New Zealand
Rugby League, Professional Boxer
“No one was dehydrated or had cramps even though it was extremely hot every day. One of our team members, Tiffany, who usually suffers from severe cramping was drinking the Sqwincher® Qwik Serves and didn’t get a cramp for the whole nine days.”
Kokoda Chicks 2012 team member Jenny Arnold, Kokoda Track, PNG
To put Sqwincher® to the test, I have been using and testing it for many months in a variety of training and working situations, as I prepare for ultra marathons. I can carry several hours worth of Sqwincher® sugar free Qwik Stiks in my pocket and as long as I have access to water, presto my electrolyte needs are taken care of. The best part is that Sqwincher® is fantastic on my stomach and remains palatable no matter what the temperature or how long it is in my bottle. Simple - Coach Jeff uses and recommends Sqwincher® Electrolyte Replacement Powder.
Coach Jeff, Ultra Marathon Runner, Professional Sports Trainer

COOLING PROGRAM PPE
• Convection (heat loss to air)• Radiation (heat loss to surrounding objects)• Evaporation of sweat
When the body is exposed to tough, hot conditions sweat evaporation is the only means by which the body can maintain the delicate core-temperature balance for healthy functioning. In addition to replacing fluid lost by this mechanism, decreasing the heat exposure, or increasing the body’s efficiency at managing body temperature can reduce risk of illness and injury.
• Air (dry-bulb) temperature• Humidity• Mean radiant temperature• Air movement• Clothing • Activity level• Rate of change of any of the above
Cooling PPE Products like the Chill-Its® range, work with the body’s natural cooling mechanisms and help the body cool down. Improving worker comfort, can improve worker productivity and reduce risk in hot humid conditions.
PVA – The latest in Cooling PPE
PVA or Poly Vinyl Acetal retains water while still remaining dry to touch and provides immediate relief in hot conditions.
Easy to use, the material activates in room temperature water and remains
significantly cooler than ambient air temperature, helping the body regulate core body temperatures in hot weather.
– Lightweight even when wet– No slime or residue– Reusable and machine washable
THE BODY’S NATURAL COOLING MECHANISMS
THERMAL COMFORT INDICATORS
In addition to hydration, cooling products have been shown to
reduce physiological strain and increase efficient work time by
up to 10%. Cooling neck ties, hard hat inserts, cooling towels and evaporative
vests, such as Ergodyne’s Chill-Its® range use evaporative
materials. When wetted, these products increase your body’s natural ability
to dissipate heat through evaporation. For more extreme thermal
environments, ice or cooling vests freeze liquids to keep the body’s core cool.

EMPLOYER OBLIGATIONS
This brochure provides a step-by-step guide to preventing Small Falling Objects with the latest in small falling objects prevention technologies and best industry practice.
Small falling objects pose serious hazards in the workplace. On most workplaces small objects are varied from hand held tools and equipment to small debris. Small objects are high in number and their size makes them hard to control. Even a 1kg spanner dropped from a height of 4 metres will hit the ground travelling over 30km/h.
Controlling the hazards small objects create pose a number of challenges. Without the correct controls, small falling objects can:• Cause injury and death• Damage property• Create tool damage• Damage equipment below• Lost time recovering fallen tools
Studies show that 30% of falling object incidents
arise from mechanical, technical and design
issues, whilst almost 50% occur from human error.
Workplace Safety & Health (2008) statistics show being struck by falling objects is the second most common cause of workplace fatalities in Singapore and a leading cause of workplace injuries.
In a report commissioned by the Ministry of Innovation & Employment, every year in New Zealand around 100 people die from fatal workplace injuries of which people struck by falling objects is a leading cause.
According to the Notified Fatalities Statistics Report 2009-2010, 14% of fatalities in Australian workplaces from 2004-2010 were attributed to objects falling from heights.
Sections 34-38 of the Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Act 2011, requires employers to minimise risks where reasonably practical to employees. To help Employers comply the WHS legislation, Safe Work Australia in 2012 published the “Falling Objects Fact Sheet” that requires tools and materials to be tethered when working at heights.
According to the publication,Guidelines for the Prevention of Falls to meet the Requirement of the Health Safety in Employment Act 1992, all tools and equipment are to be attached by a cord unless another effective method is used to prevent a falling hazard. AS/NZS 4488 also requires all tools and equipment to be tethered when working at heights.
In the Code of Practice for Working Safely at Height, section 10.2.7.4 stipulates that risks of falling objects must be mitigated, small tools must be secured to the person with the use of a lanyard. The Act also requires employers not to merely follow the law but take reasonable practical steps to proactively reduce risk to Employees.

TOP CAUSES OF FALLING OBJECTS
Prior to commencing any task that requires working from heights the following steps can help identify potential small falling object hazards.
1. Look for any environmental factors such as wind, rain, drafts, heat etc.
2. Identify sources of energy that can cause falling objects for example gravity, mechanical movement, electrical, pressurised equipment and vibration.
3. Prior to starting work visually inspect the area for preexisting hazards such as debris and loose items.
4. Make sure all safety securing features are in use.5. Look for any collision or snagging hazard with fixtures
and in particular moving or rotating machinery.6. Pay special attention to corroded bolts and brackets.7. Check what controls are in place for example:
scaffolding, toe boards, barriers, netting, etc.8. Inspect all equipment and tools for damage,
attachment points, lanyards, lift buckets, ropes and tool belts.
9. Remove any loose items or equipment.
1. Inadequate risk assessment
2. Human error
3. Inadequate procedures
4. Failed fittings and hazards
5. Poor housekeeping
6. Snaggings & collisions
7. Inadequate repairs & inspections
8. Neglected & home made tools
9. Inadequately stored or secured tools & equipment

When working at heights, examples to eliminate small falling object hazards include:• Leave any tools and equipment not required for the job at
ground level.• Remove debris from the work area prior to commencing work.• If there is any energy sources in the work area, such as
mechanical rotation, if possible turn them off prior to starting the job.
• If environmental conditions pose a source of danger, such as strong winds, consider rescheduling work.
Hazards can be substituted for ones that pose a lower risk. Examples include:• Consider prefabricating
components at ground level and hoist into place.
• Investigate the possibility of substituting ladders for elevated work platforms.
PPE is only to be used as a last resort to control risks, examples include:• Hard hats and steel
capped boots.• Individual fall arrest
systems, such as harnesses, lifelines, etc. For more information refer to Managing the Risk of Falls at Workplaces, Safe Work Australia (2011).
There are a number of engineering controls to minimise risks of falling objects, examples include:• Temporary work platforms, perimeter guard rails,
safety mesh, industrial rope access systems, catch platforms, industrial safety nets, toe boards and rails. For more information refer to Managing the Risk of Falls at Workplaces, Safe Work Australia (2011).
• Tool lanyards and topped containers can also be utilised as engineering controls
When working at heights, administrative controls should be implemented, examples include:• “No Go” areas that prohibit unauthorised people from
entering areas. Permit systems can also be used to restrict access.
• Sequence work to reduce risk, for example so trades are not working above and below each other at the same time.
• Staff training, risk assessment and safe work procedures. For more information

PROFLEX® GLOVES
TO DOWNLOAD THE BAD VIBRATIONS WHITE PAPER VISIThttp://bit.ly/1z2MJ7B
EX. EXPOSURE LEVEL
EXAMPLE: If an impact wrench with a vibration value of 12 m/s2 is used for 2.5 hours a day, the exposure level is in the hazardous area. The vibration must be controlled.
pry
me.n
et.
au
Hand–arm vibration (HAV) is vibration transmitted during whilst
using hand held power tools and hand-guided equipment, or
holding materials being processed by machines. Hand–arm vibration
is commonly experienced by workers who regularly use tools
such as jackhammers, chainsaws, grinders, drills, riveters and
impact wrenches.
are exposed to
vibration in their
workplace
24%Approximately
of
Australian
workers
Between 2000-01 and 2007-08, there were approximately 400
workers’ compensation claims per year for injuries
or illness that resulted from exposure to
vibration.
These amounted to approximately $61 million in workers’
compensation payments over the
eight years and had an estimated total
economic cost of $48 million
anually.
HAVS includes symptoms like numbness, tingling, pain, and whiteness. In advanced cases, damage is irreversible.
Risk can be reduced by calculating the amount of vibration along with the time period which a worker is exposed, and keeping this within safe limits.
Long exposure to Vibration from power tools is the primary cause of HAVS. Other causes include poor tool maintainence, lack of breaks, tight gripping of tools and incorrect posture.

40% Body Stressing
Sprains and Strains or Musculoskeletal Injuries (MSDs) are some of the most common injuries for workers, particularly in industries where repetitive manual tasks like lifting and kneeling are required.
Several Industries require workers to perform repetitive manual tasks, involving lifting loads, bending, long periods of kneeling and standing on various surfaces. Such manual work, over a period of time, leads to repeated strain causing poor long-term joint health. In addition to manual tasks or body stressing tasks, a slip, trip or fall can cause impact injuries, as can sharp tools or machinery.

TO DOWNLOAD RESOURCES VISIThttp://pryme.net.au/reducing-sprains-and-strains
The best way of avoiding a sprain or strain is to eliminate the need for a manual kneeling or lifting task or to substitute the need with ergonomically designed tools and equipment. Some tasks, particularly smaller repetitive tasks like kneeling, bending and light load lifting for long hours, cannot be avoided in certain industries. In such instances, along with ergonomic postures and lifting techniques like back supports and knee pads can increase worker comfort and serve as the last line of defence.

FIT
A BA
CK S
UPPO
RT
Manual lifting of loads between waist and shoulder height puts tremendous strain on the back, and body stressing causes the vast majority of all work related back injuries. If manual lifting is unavoidable, using correct lifting techniques and not lifting beyond the worker’s capacity can help reduce risk of injury. A back support belt can provide abdominal support, and serve as a reminder that a worker is about to lift, and to employ proper lifting techniques.
