Just Like Jesus – An Honest Heart
Psalm 52, Acts 5: 1-11
An Honest Heart Ps. 52, Acts 5Acts 5 story seems right out of the O. T.Like other O.T. stories, harsh… ‘lied & died.’9th Commandment set in court? Lying harms
worst there, lives can be at stake.9th forbids ALL lying, we speak truth in Love. Many kinds of lies, the matter is VERY seriousJesus is Truth, Devil ‘father of lies’, we serve
one or the other. Our culture is having a crisis of dishonesty.
An Honest Heart Ps. 52, Acts 5Are there good reasons to lie? Rarely if ever! We don’t like or trust
truth. Why did Ananias & Sapphira die? - truth is incredibly important! - witnesses must not lose credibility! All forms of dishonesty are Wrong.Dishonesty displays lack of trusting God!In Acts 5 result in ‘fear’ and respect for
truth!
An Honest Heart Ps. 52, Acts 5Truth can have short term consequences
but always long term peace and benefit.Lying proves we don’t trust God’s
providence.Being “Just Like Jesus” is to be truthful.V. 9 shows praising God is always truth.‘speak to each other in psalms, hymns, and
spiritual songs’ helps us avoid any deceit. (Col 3:16-17)
