From the PTA PresidentMay is all about appreciation!
I appreciate the beauty of spring and the wonderful rebirth it represents. I appreciate my mom for being an example of strength and unconditional love. I appreciate hard working and caring parents that I have had the pleasure to serve alongside in the PTA.
I am especially appreciative of the AMAZING staff at Donaldson for the countless hours they have spent teaching, supporting and loving my children. Words, gifts and luncheons can not begin to convey my deep feelings of gratitude for those that have helped shaped my kids into the awesome people they have become. The end of the school year is bittersweet as I try to balance the emotions of leaving behind one inspirational teacher and looking forward with hope to the next influential teacher.

The CLO assembly has been rescheduled for May 5th at 9am.
13 year old Gabriella is full of questions, but short on confidence as the quietest kid in the school’s astronomy club. That all changes when she takes an amazing journey back in time to meet the legendary astronomer, Galileo Galilei, and assist him as he races to finish his first telescope. While working with the “father of science” on his revolutionary discoveries, Gabriella learns valuable lessons about the importance of curiosity and courage in the face of adversity. Giant Eagle’s Apples for the Students ProgramThank you to all who have taken the time to register your Giant Eagle rewards card and select Donaldson Elementary as the organization to benefit from your purchases.
The current year’s program has ended, and we were able to order dry erase markers and glue sticks for the school as a result of your support.
If you have not already done so, please consider taking a moment to enroll your Giant Eagle rewards card in this program. The instructions are included in this newsletter (page 8). If you have already enrolled your card, there is no need to re-enroll for next year as your enrollment continues into the next program year. Thank you again for your support!
Box Tops for Education Contest
WINNERS The recent Box Tops for Education collection effort resulted in almost 9,000 Box Tops submitted again.
Donaldson Elementary will again be receiving a check for almost $900 which is awesome! Congratulations to the top collecting classrooms:

Mrs. Rukas – 2nd place
Mrs. Brookman – 3rd place
The PTA would also like to recognize the top three individuals who submitted Box Tops :

These students had a combined collection of almost 1,200 Box Tops.
Each of the winning classrooms and individuals will be given a treat, provided compliments of the Donaldson PTA. Way to go Donaldson students! Please continue to clip and keep those Box Tops as another submission contest will be held before the end of the year.

Donaldson Elementary students must be accompanied by a parent (or with a person approved by the parents of the student) to walk around & collect flat donations in their neighborhoods. Donaldson students are not permitted to walk unaccompanied asking for donations.

SHOP 'n SAVE has hosted the "Students Extra Educational Development (S.E.E.D.)" program for nearly 30 years, bringing assemblies from The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, Carnegie Science Center and Carnegie Museum to children of all ages.
Use Your SHOP 'n SAVE Perks Card to Support a Local School
Now instead of collecting receipts, you can link your Perks Card with the school of your choice to help to bring an assembly to students. After you link your Perks Card to your local school, just swipe your Perks Card anytime you shop at SHOP 'n SAVE and your purchases will be automatically added to your school's total. A total of $250 spent is required for each student attending the assembly.
