Introduction

The cooperation between the Department ofRegional Development, Infrastructure and En-vironmental Planning of the Vienna Universi-

ty of Technology and Bosnian-Podrinje CantonGorade is now several years long. The initialcontact has been established in 2011 and sincethen the representatives of the Universityand the Canton have met several times, bothin Vienna and Gorade. Gradually, throughthese meetings, the details of the project De-velopment perspectives of Gorade have beenformed. The students and professors from

University visited Gorade as part of studentexcursion in April 2013 and during their stay,they inspected the area, got information aboutsituation, problems and potentials in spatialplanning of the Canton. In October 2013 the students and professorsof the Department of Regional Development,Infrastructure and Environmental Planning ofthe Vienna University of Technology, togetherwith the students and professors of SarajevoUniversity, from Faculty of Architecture visi-ted Gorade again. Within the project Deve-lopment perspectives of Gorade a workshop,consisting of the visit to all three Cantons and

Inicijalni kontakti uspostavljenisu jo 2011. godine, a tokom proteklog periodapredstavnici Univerziteta i Kantona sastali suse vie puta, kako u Beu, tako i u Goradu, akroz ove susrete postepeno su formulisani de-talji projekta Razvojne perspektive Gorada.Studenti i profesori Univerziteta su posjetiliGorade u okviru studentske ekskurzije u ap-rilu 2013. godine i tokom svog boravka obiliteren i kroz prezentacije se upoznali sa stan - jem, problematikom i potencijalima iz oblastiprostornog planiranja.

U oktobru 2013. godine studenti i profesoriOdsjeka za prostorno planiranje TehnikogUniverziteta u Beu, zajedno sa studentimai profesorima Arhitektonskog fakulteta u Sa-rajevu su ponovo posjetili Gorade. Ovom pri-likom odrana je radionica u okviru projektaRazvojne perspektive Gorada, tokom kojesu uesnici obili teren i posjetili sve tri opineKantona, te prisustvovali na nekoliko prezen-tacija, na kojima su upoznati sa stanjem u

municipalities and presentations about cur-rent situation and future development plans,had been done. The work groups have been for-med and areas of focus have been chosen, rststeps have been made. The students continued

their work on the project after the workshopin Gorade was nished and it lasted throughwinter semester 2013/2014.

Finally, it is time to show the results of thislong work and cooperation. At the end of Feb-ruary 2014 we are organizing an exhibition inGorade where the work, the results of activi-ties within the Project Development perspec-tives of Gorade, will be presented.

I believe that projects like this can give us anopportunity to look at the space of our Can-ton from different angle. We all live here, weknow the area and local problems well, but weare not fully aware of the potential we havehere, so the opportunity to work together withguests, unburdened with our problems andwith ability to recognize undeveloped potentialis very useful. We expect that this combinationof knowledge, experience and creativity of stu-dents and professors from Austria and Saraje-vo will bring good, interesting and executableresults. We hope that this exhibition

periodu zimskog semestra 2013/2014. godine.

Konano, dolo je vrijeme da se pokau i rezul-tati ovog viegodinjeg rada i saradnje. Krajemfebruara 2014. godine organizujemo u Goraduizlobu, na kojoj e biti prezentirani radovi,koji su plod dosadanjih aktivnosti u okviruprojekta Razvojne perspektive Gorada.

Smatram da nam jedan ovakav projekat moedati priliku da prostor naeg Kantona i njeg-ovo ureenje sagledamo iz drugaijeg ugla. Mikoji ivimo u ovom okruenju dobro poznaje-mo teren i lokalnu problematiku, ali nismou potpunosti svjesni koji potencijal imamo izbog toga je prilika da radimo zajedno sa go-stima, neoptereenim naim problemima i sasposobnou za prepoznavanje neiskoritenihmogunosti veoma korisna. Oekujemo da eovo kombinovanje znanja, iskustva i kreativ-nosti studenata i profesora iz Austrije i Sa-rajeva donijeti dobra, interesantna i primjen -ljiva rjeenja. Nadamo se da e izloba, kojae prezentirati rezultate projekta takoer uka -

Place based Regional DevelopmentPlanning: students of two countries incooperation One of the main challenges for effective regio-

nal planning is a good place based evidence oflocal trends and problems. Besides, the histori-cal, socio-economic and political context shouldbe as familiar as possible in order to developsound planning strategies.

Facing these challenges a group of master stu-dents from Vienna University of Technology(VUT) started a project focussing on regional

planning strategies strengthening local deve-lopment. An important learning process onlocal conditions and most important actors aswell as on existing assets and new potentialsfor regional development was initiated in therun of a study visit for one week in late Oc-tober 2013. During this week different expe-riences on local development could be gainedthrough meetings with politicians, planersand other important actors of regional deve-lopment. Intensive discussions about effectivestrategies with collaborating students fromSarajevo University started. In a second work-shop in December in Vienna, in cooperationwith the Sarajevo students speci c strategies

Jedan od glavnih izazova za efektivno regional-

no planiranje je dobro placiranje i uoavanjelokalnih trendova i problema. Pored toga, his-torijski, socijalno-ekonomski i politiki kontek-sti bi trebali biti to je mogue poznatiji, da bise razvile zvune planerske strategije. Suoavajui se sa izazovima, grupa masterstudenata sa Tehnikog Univerziteta u Beu(TUB) je otpoela projekat, fokusirajui se naregionalno-planerske strategije jaanja lo-kalnog razvoja. Vrlo bitan proces upoznavan- ja lokalnih uslova i najvanijih aktera, kao ipostojee strukture i novih potencijala za regi-onalni razvoj je ostvaren za vrijeme students-ke posjete, u trajanju od sedam dana, u okto-bru mjesecu 2013. godine. Tokom ove sedmicesmo bili u prilici stei dojam o lokalnom raz-voju kroz susrete sa politiarima, planerima iostalim vanim akterima regionalnog razvoja.To je oznailo i poetak intenzivnih diskusijasa kooperirajuim studentima sa SarajevskogUniverziteta. BackgroundIn the Master curriculum of study Urban andRegional Planning at the Vienna University

of Technology students are to graduate a mas-ter project, where they have the opportunityto plan interesting, attractive, sustainable andpromising areas in the national and internati-onal eld. In one word - future.

Considering geographical location, politicaland administrative arrangements and its veryown past, Gorade and its surroundings repre-sent one important link in the chain of Upper-Drina region. Precisely because of these as-pects is such region extremely challenging, butalso very complex for a spatial planning. Asa spatial planner and a person who was bornin Gorade, who was always aware of its ad-vantages and de cits, which actually give thisregion its unique character, Ive recognized amultitude of development potential.

svake godine se odrava master projekat, prikojem studenti imaju priliku planirati za -nimljiva, atraktivna, odriva i perspektivnapodruja na nacionalnom i internacionalnompolju. Jednom rjeju - budunost.

S obzirom na geografski poloaj, politiko-administrativno ureenje i samu prolost,Gorade i njegova okolina predstavljaju jednubitnu kariku u lancu naseljenih prostora Gorn-

je-drinske regije. Sa aspekta prostornog plani-ranja upravo je jedna takva regija izazovna, aujedno i veoma kompleksna. Kao prostornomplaneru i roenom Goradaku, kojem su adutii de citi ove regije oduvijek bili poznati, koji joj i daju tako jedinstven karakter, prepoznaosam mnotvo razvojnog potencijala.

Ideja (Inicijativa)Povodom izrade Federalnog prostornog plana2008-2028 i njegove aktuelne vanosti u Bosnii Hercegovini, uvidjeli smo priliku da 2013. go-dine postavimo tematsko teite studentskog

creative concepts and give a realistic guidancefor the development of the project area.

I presented this idea to the representatives ofBPC Gorade at the initial meeting back inJuly 2011.

Cooperation developmentWith the conclusion of BPC Government in

March 2012, the initiative of cooperation withthe Vienna University of Technology was ac-cepted and followed by meetings to formalizethe Project.

International cooperation is planned in twosteps.First step was the student excursion in April2013, which served as introduction into the ter-rain and space of the BPC Gorade. During theexcursion we have also visited Sarajevo andMostar, where were organized presentationsand discussions in the Department of Planningof Canton Sarajevo, at the Faculty of Architec-ture in Sarajevo and Urban-Planning Institute

Internacionalna saradnja je planirana u dvakoraka.Prvi korak inila je realizacija studentske eks-kurzije u aprilu 2013. godine, koja je sluilaprvobitnom upoznavanju terena i prostoraBPK-a Gorade. U okviru ekskurzije obavl- jene su takoer posjete Sarajevu i Mostaru,prilikom kojih su organizovana prezentacije idiskusije u Zavodu za planiranje Kantona Sa-

Because of its complexity, the work on the project is planned through workshops in Goradeand Vienna. Workshop in Gorade, which washeld in October 2013, was preceded by a lec-ture in Sarajevo by the Federal Ministry of

Spatial Planning, on a complete territorial-ad -ministrative structure of the Federation, witha focus on the BPC Gorade and the impor-tance and necessity of spatial and developmentplans. Stay in BPC Gorade was used to visitall its municipalities and the region of Canton,to inspect and detect potential locations orroutes suitable for the project of every group.The result of the rst workshop was an over-

all SWOT analysis of the BPC Gorade and itsregion, as well as the rst concepts of ideas.On workshop in Vienna, held in December2013, students intensi ed realization of theirconcepts and preliminary designs as a part oftheir teamwork. Organized visits to Viennasbiggest developing urban projects, Seestadt Aspern and the Central railway station, gavestudents a practical overview on the process ofspatial planning, use of planning instrumentsand its realization.

Between workshops, students worked indivi-dually on developing their visions and ideas,with the full support of the university teaching

strunim znanjem.Zbog njegove kompleksnosti, rad na Projektu je planiran kroz radionice u Goradu i Beu.Radionici u Goradu, koja je odrana u oktobru2013. godine, prethodilo je struno predavanjeu Sarajevu od strane Federalnog ministarst-va za prostorno planiranje, koje je sadravalopregled kompletne prostorno-administrativne

strukture Federacije, sa teitem na BPK-uGorade, te sam znaaj i neophodnost pros-tornih planova. Boravak u BPK-u Gorade jeprotekao u posjetama svih opina i regije Kan-tona, kao i u detaljnom inspiciranju terena i ot-krivanju potencijalnih lokacija, odnosno relaci- ja i ruta pogodnih za realizaciju projekta svakegrupe. Rezultat prve radionice bila je sveukup-na SWOT analiza BPK-a Gorade i njegoveregije, kao i prvi konstrukti idjenih rjeenja.Tokom radionice u Beu, odrane u decemb-ru 2013. godine, studenti su svojim timskimradom intenzivirali realizaciju svojih koncep-ta i idejnih rjeenja. Organizovane posjetenajveim urbanistikim projektima u Beu,

At the end of January of 2014, groups comple-ted their work. All of these projects, with theirconcepts and solutions, are unique in their ownway, but yet their ultimate goal is the same, toraise living standards in the area of Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Gorade and its surroundingarea.

On this occasion I would like to thank all col-

Seestadt Aspern i Centralnoj eljeznikoj sta-nici, studentima su pruile praktian uvid uproces planiranja jednog prostora, instrumen-te planiranja i njegovu realizaciju.U periodu izmeu radionica, studenti su indi-

vidualno radili na razvoju svojih vizija i ideja, uz punu podrku nastavnog osoblja, krozuniverzitetsku nastavu. Meusobnu komuni -kaciju olakala su tehnika dostignua, poputSkypea i Dropboxa, koja su omoguila kontinu-iranu i e kasnu razmjenu ideja i informacija.

Krajem janura 2014. godine, grupe su okonalesvoj rad. Zanimljivo je da su svi radovi, njihovi

koncepti i rjeenja, na svoj nain jedinstveni, ada im je krajnji cilj ipak isti, podizanje ivotnogstandarda na prostoru Bosansko-podrinjskogkantona Gorade i njegovoj regiji.

Ovom prilikom bih se elio zahvaliti svim ko-legama i institucijama u Bosni i Hercegovi-ni i Austriji na nesebinoj podrci tokom ovesaradnje, pogotovo svojim profesorima, Univ.Prof. Mag. Dr. Rudolf Gif nger i Ass. Prof.Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Thomas Dillinger, kao i Bosans-ko-podrinjskom kantonu Gorade.

About the region Gorade

Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Gorade, the smallest can-ton in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,covers an area of 504.6 km2, in the eastern part ofBosnia and Herzegovina and is situated on an al-titude of 345 meters. According to current data ofthe Federal institute for statistics, the populationof Canton counts 32.675. Administrative, political,educational and cultural center of the Canton is city

Gorade. Bosnian-Podrinje Canton consists of threemunicipalities: Gorade , Foa - Ustikolina and Pale-Praa.

One of the main characteristics of Canton isthe Drina river, the largest river in Bosnia and

se na nadmorskoj visini od 345 metara. Prema ak-tuelnim podacima Federalnog zavoda za statistiku,broj stanovnika Kantona iznosi 32.675. Adminis-trativno, politiko, prosvjetno i kulturno sreditekantona je u gradu Goradu. U sastavu Bosansko-podrinjskog kantona nalaze se opine: Gorade,Foa-Ustikolina i Pale-Praa.

Jedna od glavnih karakteristika kantona je ri -

jeka Drina, najvea rijeka u Bosni i Hercegovi-ni. Jo za vrijeme rimskog carstva, ona je bilagranica izmeu istoka i zapada. Ova ljepoticapokazala je i u novijoj historiji svoj stratekiznaaj.

S obzirom na administrativno-politikoureenje Bosne i Hercegovine, Kanton se nala-zi u veoma speci noj poziciji, jer okolni grado-vi i opine pripadaju drugom bosanskom enti-tetu i urbano-aglomeraciono podruje Sarajeva

je samo preko niskorangiranih putnih komuni-kacija dostupno. Uprkos tome, ovaj Kanton jezadrao status i karakter centralnog urbanogpodruja.

Herzegovina. Even during the Roman imperia,it was the border between East and West. Thisbeauty has only con rmed its strategic impor-tance in the recent history.

Considering the administrative and politicalstructure of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cantonis located in a very speci c position. It is sur-rounded with cities and municipalities of theother Bosnian entity and urban-agglomerati-on area of Sarajevo is only reachable by localroads. Nevertheless, this Canton kept the sta -tus and character of the central urban area.

Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Gorade has plentyof natural resources, such as water potential,sources of drinking water, healthy food, richforests and hunting grounds. Still, Goradeand its region have the character of the agri-cultural and industrial region. Therefore, theconcept of post-war development was the re-construction of industrial capacity, which hasprospect for strengthening and improvementof the area.

The process of getting back on the pre-war le-vel still lasts.

Bosansko-podrinjski kanton Gorade imadosta prirodnih resursa, kao to su: vodenipotencijal, izvori pitke vode, proizvodnju zdra-ve hrane, bogatstvo uma i lovita. Pored pri-

rodnih ljepota, Gorade i njegova regija ipakimaju karakter poljoprivrednog i industrijskogregiona. Stoga je koncept poslijeratnog razvojainila obnova privrednih kapaciteta, koji imaju perspektive za jaanje i unapreenje ovogpodruja.

Proces povratka na prijeratni nivo jo uvijek je u toku.

Findings

The rst Poster gives an overview about thegroups approach how to develop the canton ofGorazde. The general idea is to create a tou-ristic concept from which the canton can pro twithin short time.Initially there was the question why tourismwas chosen as an instrument to develop thecanton. The European Commission stated ina paper that tourism is an ecenomic activitycapable of generating growth and employmentin the EU, while contributing to development() particularly of rural and mountain areas 1.

This characterization correlates with the visi -on of local persons in power wanting to becomethe canton a tourist destination.But Gorade has to start from the beginning,which has several reasons. Without a doubtthere is an awareness of beauty of landscapeand its opportunities for tourism. But to usethis potentials you have to nd a way how toactivate them. Otherwise its just an unusedcapability. Nowadays you have to see tourismas a global industry. Especially with the back-ground of globalization different target groupshave different needs. As a consequence tou-rism must be characterized as an industry oftrends.

NalaziPrvi poster daje ope informacije o pristupugrupe kako razviti Kanton Gorade. Gene-ralna ideja je bila stvoriti turistiki konceptiz koje kanton moe pro tirati u relativnokratkom vremenu. Poetno pitanje je zato jeturizam bio izabran kao instrument za raz -voj kantona. Europska komisija je napisala ulanku da je turizam ekonomska djelatnostkoja omoguuje rast i zapoljavanje u EU, doksu doprinijeli razvoju (...) osobito seoskog i pla-ninskog podruja.1Ova karakterizacija korelira s vizijom lokalnih

ljudi na vlasti koji ele da BPK Gorade posta-ne turistiko odredite . Ali Gorade mora poeti od poetka. Bezsumnje, postoji svijest o ljepoti krajolika ito je mogunost za razvoj turizma. Ali zaiskoritavanje ovoj potencijala mora se pronainain kako da ih aktivirati. Inae, to je samoneiskoritena mogunost. Danas je turizamglobalna industrija. Pogotovo s pozadinomglobalizacije, razliite ciljne skupine imajurazliite potrebe. The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina re-commend Gorade focusing primary on sportsand recreation as well as on active holidays innature and eco tourism. As a secondary pro-duct the canton could offer cultural and eventtourism. According to these suggestions andconsidering the local and global circumstancesthe group came up with three different touris -tic perspectives. All of them are reaching diffe-rent target groups but the canton should focusbecoming a destination for outdoor and adven-ture lovers as this seems the most suitable wayto develeop a sustainable touristic perspective.

Adventure and Outdoor loversWe recommend focusing the tourism strategyon people who come to BPK for outdoor sportsand recreation. A realistic catchment area isreachable in 3 hours drive and includes Bos-nian cities and towns, especially Sarajevo, butalso areas in Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia.Most of the tourists will probably stay just forone day or a weekend in the canton. To keepcapacity utilization on a reasonable level, pu-pils on school camps and youth organisationscould be an additional target group.Examples for touristic offers which can be es-

tablished with low nancial input but t forthe target groups are hiking opportunities, amountain bike network on existing trails androads (so only signs and maps have to be made)or a tree-top adventure course. The ideas presented on the second poster needa strategy for implementation. The processdesign sketches the way of BPK towards be-coming a tourism region. Besides the deve-lopment of a vision, goals and tasks it bringsstakeholders together which enables new alli-ances for the implementation of projects. Alsostakeholders from adjacent regions should beinvited to share their ideas because everyonewill pro t from a balanced interregional tou-ristic offer. So without the commitment of allactors in tourism is of essential importance.

This is also why it wouldnt make sense to con-duct this task development process just withpublic actors.When planning single tasks it is important tode ne responsibilities and timeframes for theimplementation. Our vision and main goal is to re-establish Go-razde as regional centre. The special locationand history of Gorazde predestines the city tobecome the centre of the region. Through ourkey ndings, we de ned 3 goals to reach ourvision.

To stop the consequent migration of human res-sources we think its important to strengthen

already existing structures in economical andsocial terms. We have to optimize the livingconditions (job offerings, social and culturallife, future perspectives for inhabitants) toavoid the migration to other cities or abroad.Next to improving the living conditions, wewill work on building a regional identity whichallows the people of Gorazde to be satis ed andproud of their hometown again. Since we havea bottom-up strategy, it is important to activa -te participatory processes in the region. Peopleof Gorazde should get the possibility to have asay in planning activities that affect their li-ving circumstances. Also, the acceptance of ac-tions of spatial planning is higher when peopleof the region are involved in the process.

Uz poboljanje ivotnih uvjeta, raditemo na izgradnji regionalnog identiteta, kojiomoguava ljudima Gorada da budu zadovolj-ni i ponosni na svoj rodni grad. Budui da ima-mo strategiju odozdo prema gore, vano jeda se aktiviraju participatorni procesi u regiji. Goals and Measures

We de ne our key ndings as elds of actionon one hand and as potential for regional deve-

lopment on the other hand. Based on our keyndings, we de ned goals and measures. The

measures are the way to implement our goalsstep by step.

Goal 1 concerns itself with the strengtheningof already existing structures to achieve aneconomic and demographic growth.Goal 2 isbased on Goal 1 and takes the regional growingto the next level - the building and strengthe-ning of a regional identity. Goal 3 containsthe main focus of our concept - participatoryprocesses. To sucessfully activate, motivateand inspire all actors we will implement a newinstitution called AMI which will be the basisof all bottom-up planning activities.

Not all measures can be located in one exactpoint (e.g. the implementation of a regional

brand) therefore the map locates some but notall of the measures in a large scale. Since ourmain focus is Gorazde city we show a smallerscale map of the city itself.

The measuremaps show the main focus of ourconcept - the reactivation of existing structureand spaces for the inhabitants. But for a re-gional bene t we also located important mea-sures like the offer of infrastructure in ruralsettlements, which is again very important forthe inhabitants, as well as the protection of theenvironment and the location of industrial are-as for economic growth.

Open Spaces - Detail Plan

As we already mentioned, our main focus iscity of Gorazde, so we decided to make small

interventions by size and similar by shape,that will encourage people to stay in theirhometown.We made the urban plan to present the exactpositions of these structures, which are are lo-cated throughout the whole city.Large structures are at large open spaces (L)in the central part of the city and next to exis-ting cultural and educational objects. Medium AMI structures are located in more intimateopen spaces, for example between residentialbuildings.There are also positions of the small-sizedstructures (S), that are helpful and usable ineveryday situations. Since S structures can befound almost everywhere, we did not locatethem by now. S structures can be found in thecenter but also in residental areas.

Kao to smo ranije spomenuli, na glavni fokus je na gradu Goradu, tako da smo odluili na-

praviti manje intervencije razliite po veliini,ali sline po obliku, koje e potai ljude da ost-anu u svom rodnom gradu.Na urbanistikom planu koji smo napravili,predstavili smo tane pozicije struktura, kojesu locirane kroz cijeli grad.

Velike strukture su na velikim otvorenimprostorima u centralnom dijelu grada, poredpostojeih objekata za kulturu i obrazovanje.Srednje AMI strukture su postavljene na in -timnijim otvorenim prostorima, izmeu zgra-da za stanovanje.Oznaene su i pozicije S struktura, koje su ko-risne u svadoknevnim situacijama, tako da ne -mamo taan opis lokacije na kojoj se S nalazi, jer S moe biti postavljena bilo gdje u gradu, ucentru, ali i u stambenom dijelu grada.

In order to present our idea even better, we

decided to make 3D visualisation with S andL areas. This part of the city is located by theriver and next to the public buildings such asschool, cultural center and open cinema. Lstructures tend to be a continuos strip whoseshape makes pavilions, scene, market placeetc. This yellow strip also connects open spaceof anj island with the coastal area. S struc -tures are placed on stairs in form of movablefurniture that can be used as a bench.

The concept focuses on the linking role of theriver. Sport and leisure are very important forthe locals as well as for visitors of the region.The aim is to connect all existing Sporting

clubs and leisure activities in the valley of Dri-na by programs.The programs for sport and recreational facili-ties, supporting the idea to place public spacesin the areas, that are available for all residentsof canton BPC Gorade and Republica Srpska,for the purpose of unites people trough com-mon sport activites.Renewal public space along with river Drina,is achived by different actions, with their focuson sports and recreational zones. Exploring co-verage canton BPK, along the river Drina, fourpoints were selected by its disposition and phy-sical availability, that corresponding for desig-ning public spaces and activities such as like:organisation rafting, festivals, shing, cycling,skate park and sports facilities, also includingzones for pedestrian.The association Drina Studio should be ameeting point for all stakeholders of the re-gion to provide cooperation and coordinationbetween public and private stakeholders of theDrina valley.

klubove i aktivnosti u slobodnom vremenu udolini rijeke Drine i stvoriti nove ponude.Programi za sportske i rekreativne objekte, sasvrhom ujedinjenja ljudi kroz obine sportskeaktivnosti podravaju ideju lociranja javnihpovrina na podruja, koje je dostupno stanov-nicima BPK-a Gorade i RSe.Obnova javnog prostora uz du rijeke Drinepostignut je raznim sadrajima sa teitem nasportske i rekreativne aktivnosti. The colourful annual spring parade with theaim of representing the unique social cohe-sion of the Drina Region takes place nearbythe Drina River on the streets passing Usti-

kolina, Gorazde and other participating muni-cipalities in the Drina Studio. Once a year ithighlights the spring period with awakeningof a common ground of culture, traditions andidentities of the region.

DRaft - Drina Rafting and Canoeing

The rafting and canoeing event on the Drina is

a periodical event through the region. Raftingis already one of the sport clubs, but with theDRaft it becomes more popular and a commonground activity. The event will be sponsored bythe local companies.

DRun - Drina Orientation Run

This sport facility is the perfect possibility forpeople of every age to participate at a regionalorientation run through different municipali-ties and locations to get to know the regionspotential. Last but not least is the point ofcreation of awareness about the region.

The facilities intendedfor equipment storage are 6m big and can alsobe used as preperation stations for rafting andkayak tours.

In the immediate vicinity of our rst point inUstikolina, we located a settlement in Njuhe,which offers a large, unused surface for crea-ting recreational contents for people of all age

groups. With that in mind we planned bicycleand pedestrian paths, maraton routes, skateand bicycle parks, piers and cascades. Alongthe coast of the river stretches a complex withskateboard and bicycle rinks, with pedestrianpaths, piers and cascades, interwoven withlush greenary. On the other side of the pedest-rian path we planned a maraton route troughthe densely arranged vegetation.

This location at Dzindici, offers enough areacapacity on its beach resort to organize ma-nifestations such as festivals, concerts and soon. With that in mind we planned one mainstage and two secondary stages on each side,connected with walkways, in a way that allowsgathering people in front of the stages. In the time of our stay abroad in Gorade, wehad a bit of time to collect the rst impressionsand do some research there.- We made explorations and exkursion through thewhole Canton- Interviews with local people, photos and rst ideaswhere made- A SWOT analysis, focussed on the strengths, wea-knesses, threats and the potentials/opportunities inthe region was worked out- Then back in Vienna and Sarajevo different analysiswere made for the Canton, for example: for econo-my, nature, settlement structure etc.

- According to the analysis we made, we camequickly to a conclusion what the canton needs: moreworkplaces, trained staff and better educational sys-tems. Since the war, where most factories have beendestroyed and many people moved to foreign coun-tries, has not changed much. The biggest problemsare the currently high unemployment, the lack of jobs, the aging population and the migrant acade-mics. Another point relates to the poor education ofthe people there, respectively of the non-existing,missing trained staff for the industry .Therefore we decided for an industrial park, com-bined with a cultural and educational developmentin the canton, especially in Gorade city.

U vrijeme naeg boravka u Goradu, imali smomalo vremena za prikupljanje prvi dojmova iprva istraivanja.- Napravili smo istraivanja i ekskursije kroz cijeliKanton- Razgovarali smo sa lokalnim stanovnicima, fotodo-kumentirali i skicirali prve ideje-SWOT analiza, je razraena i usredoena na sna-gama, slabostima, prijetnjama i potencijalima/mogunostima u regiji- Natrag u Beu i Sarajevu su napravljene razliiteanalize vezane za kanton , nap.: za privredu, prirodu,strukturu naselja itd.

- Prema analizi koju smo napravili, doli smo brzo dozakljucka to Kanton treba i nedostaje: vie radnihmjesta, kolovanog osoblja i bolje obrazovne struk-ture.Od rata, kada je veina tvornica unitena i mnogiljudi odselili u inozemstvo, slika Kntona i regije nijese mnogo promijenila. Najvei problemi su trenut-no visoka nezaposlenost, nedostatak radnih mjesta,starenje stanovnitva i migriracija stanonvnika i aka-

demika. Druga stvar se odnosi na loe obrazovanjeljudi, odnosno u postojei nedostatak kolovaneradne snage u industriji. Stoga smo na konceptfokusirali na Industrijski park, koji je u kombinaci- ji sa sadrajima kulture i obrazovanja Kantona, sa

Takoer, analizama je utvreno da su neophodni sadraji lokacije, prostori, prostorije za nauno-istraivakirad, javne ustanove kulturnog sadraja, ka -kav je muzej ili galerija, kao i prostori za od-mor i razonodu, koji e biti jednako dostupnii kvaliteni za sve starosne kategorije stanov-nika Gorada. Kako obuhvat lokacije zahvataprostor Ade (rijenog ostrva), koji se u ljetnom

periodu koristi kao prostor za sunanje, sporti razonodu, svakako je potrebno i ovaj prostorukljuiti, i dovesti do poboljanja njegovog kva-liteta, ime se doprinosi javnom, drutvenom,ivotu stanovnika ovoga grada.Urbana transformacija tretirane lokacije u pr-vom redu podrazumijeva kreiranje javnog ot-vorenog prostora, dvojake namjene, ziki je-dinstvenog, ali simboliki razliitog. The quality of this space is completedwith smaller amphitheater, with siting area of highof 45 cm, and smaller stage with the high of 20 cm.The space is isolated from noice with green area,which gives visitors calmer atmosphere, with goodatmosphere for reading and studing. As a part ofcomposition are trees, with de ned growth, whichtakes strong message of this space, and at the same

time they are ecological acceptable and give extraquality.

In southern part of location there is monumenthigh of 180 cm, partly in the ground for 60 cm.
