    CuttingCutting InstructionsPlease Note: All strips are cut across the width of fabric (WOF) from selvage to selvage edge unless otherwise noted.

    WOF= Width of Fabric • LOF = Length of Fabric

    Blue Version Fabric A (2958P-11 Book Panel – Blue): • Fussy cut (6) 9 ½” squares, each centered on a book image. • Fussy cut (4) 6 ½” squares, each centered on a word panel.

    Fabric B (2956-77 Stars – Blue), cut: • (1) 9 ½” x WOF strip, sub-cut (12) 2 ½” x 9 ½” strips. • (1) 13 ½” x WOF strip sub-cut (12) 2 ½” x 13 ½” strips.

    Fabric C (2955-11 Tossed Bears – Blue): • Fussy cut (6) 4 ½” squares, each centered on an image.

    Fabric D (2957-8 Circles – White), cut: • (1) 6 ½” x WOF strip, sub-cut (12) 1 ½” x 6 ½” strips and (12) 1 ½” x 4 ½” strips. • (1) 12 ½” x WOF strip, sub-cut (12) 1 ½” x 12 ½” strips and (12) 1 ½” x 10 ½” strips.

    Fabric E (2956-88 Stars – Red), cut: • (1) 10 ½” x WOF strip, sub-cut (12) 2 ½” x 10 ½”. • (1) 6 ½” x WOF strip, sub-cut (12) 2 ½” x 6 ½” strips.

    Fabric F (2957-11 Circles – Blue), cut: • (3) 6 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and cut (2) 6 ½” x 50 ½” strips. • (2) 6 ½” x 38 ½” strips.

    Fabric G (1351-Red Just Color! – Red), cut: • (3) 1 ½” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together, end to end with diagonal seams, and cut (2) 1 ½” x 48 ½” strips. • (2) 1 ½” x 38 ½” strips. • (6) 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding.

    Backing (2954-11 Bears in Frames – Blue), cut: • (2) 70” x WOF strips. Piece the strips together and cut (1) 58” x 70” piece for the back.

    SewingSew using a ¼” seam allowance with right sides together (RST) unless otherwise indicated. Always

    press towards the darker fabric while assembling, unless otherwise noted by the arrows.

    Block Assembly1. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric D strip to each side of (1) 4 ½” Fabric C square. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 6 ½” Fabric D strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric C square to make (1) Block One center (Fig. 1).

    2. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 6 ½” Fabric E strip to each side of the Block One center. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 10 ½” Fabric E strip to the top and to the bottom of the Block One center (Fig. 2).

    3. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 10 ½” Fabric D strip to each side of (1) Block One center. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 12 ½” Fabric D strip to the top and to the bottom of the Block One center to complete (1) Block One (Fig. 3).

    4. Repeat Steps 1-3 to make (6) Block Ones total.

    5. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 9 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of (1) 9 ½” Fabric A square. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 13 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A square (Fig. 4). Trim the block to measure 12 ½” square to complete one Block Two. Repeat to make (6) Block Twos total.

    Quilt Top Assembly6. Sew (1) Block One to each side of (1) Block Two to make Row One. Repeat to make Row Three. Sew (1) Block Two to each side of (1) Block One to make Row Two. Repeat to make Row Four. Sew the four rows together, in numerical order, to make the quilt top (Fig. 5).

    7. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 48 ½” Fabric G strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 38 ½” Fabric G strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top (Fig. 6).

    Layering, Quilting and Finishing9. Press the quilt top and 58” x 70” backing well. Layer backing (wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top (right side up) and baste. Quilt as desired and trim excess batting and backing when quilting is complete.

    Binding10. Cut the ends of the (6) Fabric G binding strips at 45-degree angles and sew end to end to make (1) continuous piece of binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press wrong sides together.

    11. Sew the binding to the front of the quilt, raw edges together. Turn the folded edge to the back, and hand stitch in place.

    8. Sew (1) 6 ½” x 50 ½” Fabric F strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 6 ½” Fabric A square to each end of (1) 6 ½” x 38 ½” Fabric F strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top (Fig. 7).
