Blood – a mixture of water, minerals, nutrients, sugars and proteins- red blood cells carry oxygen

Heart- muscular organ about the size of your fist- pumps blood

Blood Vessels- hollow tubes that transport blood- arteries: carry blood away from the heart- veins: carry blood towards the heart- capillaries: smallest blood vessel, only one blood cell can pass through single file

Medical Problemsatherosclerosis: fatty materials,

such as cholesterol, build up on the inside of blood vessels

hypertension: abnormally high blood pressure

heart attack: when a major artery that supplies blood to the heart becomes blocked, a person has a heart attack and part of the heart can die
