Effective July 2, 2007, Putzmeister America officially acquired Allentown Equipment, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary within the Putzmeister Group. With over 95 years in business, Allentown is the industry leader in the design and manufacture of wet and dry process shotcrete equipment for underground, refractory and mortar industries. To reflect the affiliation, the company name was changed to Allentown Shotcrete Technology, Inc., a Putzmeister Company. The acquisition further expands the Putzmeister product line to offer the widest range of trailer- mounted gunite and shotcrete models produced in America, to the highly extensive line of track- and truck-mounted robotic equipment available from the Putzmeister Underground Construction division in Germany. From their Allentown, Pennsylvania location, Allentown Shotcrete Technology will continue production of pressure tank guns, rotor guns, rotary bowl guns, wet process pumps and high pressure pumps. Plus, due to their shotcreting expertise, Allentown will now become the focal point in handling major North American under- ground construction projects for the worldwide Putzmeister organization. Dave Adams, Putzmeister America’s president and CEO has also assumed the role as CEO of Allentown Shotcrete Technology, Inc. Patrick Bridger, president of Allentown, will continue in this key role and report to Adams. “We clearly anticipate mutually beneficial growth opportunities,” notes Dave Adams. “Allentown will fully utilize Putzmeister’s worldwide technical, sales and marketing resources to promote the company’s shotcrete products on a more global basis. Concurrently, Putzmeister will benefit from Allentown’s dominance in the underground and refractory markets to increase the level of our product exposure in these specialized fields.” “We’re excited about joining the Putzmeister team. Although our business operations will remain virtually unchanged in Allentown, we’re anxious to begin our added role as the U.S. outlet for overseeing technical shotcreting projects in North America, and distributing applicable worldwide Putzmeister products here,” said Patrick Bridger. “This will result in the customer receiving the best equipment choice for their job needs — from tunneling and mining to refractory and repair work.” PM 3854 US Vol. 22 Fall 2007 Top photo left to right: Patrick Bridger, president of Allentown Shotcrete Technology, Inc.; George Yoggy, 40-year shotcrete industry veteran with Allentown; and Dave Adams, president and CEO of Putzmeister America, Inc., and additionally CEO of Allentown Shotcrete Technology, Inc. In May 2007,

Putzmeister America,

Inc. assumed full

responsibility for the

sales, service and spare

parts of Putzmeister

concrete placing

equipment in Latin

America and the Caribbean (LACA).

This expanded scope in the LACA

region further demonstrates Putzmeister

America’s commitment of personnel

and service to meet the needs of our

customers in North and South America.

As a result, our growth aggressively

continues, with our new role expected

to benefit both LACA and North

American customers. It means added

opportunities to expand our product

line, extend our service capabilities and

develop more effective methods that

make it easier to do business with us.

In addition, by increasing our customer

base within the LACA market, we are

more strategically positioned to

maintain production goals during

cyclical U.S. market conditions. This

offers stability in retaining qualified,

experienced staff to consistently serve

your needs.

Plus, by hiring additional bilingual

personnel to support the LACA region

today, we will become organizationally

structured to accommodate future U.S.

demographics, whereby Latinos are

expected to constitute almost 25 percent

of the nation’s total population by 2050.

To assist in our endeavors, we held our

first Latin America distributor meeting

in October. This offered a platform to

build a stronger partnership, achieve a

clearer understanding of each market’s

local needs and develop strategic plans

that can positively impact all customers.

We, at Putzmeister America, now look

at our company name with a much

broader scope, as we literally have become Putzmeister of the Americas.

In June, Putzmeister Pro-Tech unveiled its new web site – www.pmaprotech.com. The organization launched the web site as part of an initiative to bring a more personal experience to customers choosing a piece of used equipment.

“A few of the key reasons behind the launch of the Pro-Tech web site,” notes Pro-Tech used equipment sales manager, Dick Farrell, “is to provide our customers with a more individualized one stop shop for used equip-ment, while also offering more convenient ways to learn about new inventory available.”

The new web site features an easy-to-use ‘Equipment Finder’, an interactive feature which allows visitors to customize their search for used equipment by type, brand, stock number, model, year range and model class. Site users can search for exactly what they have in mind or set the parameters to view Pro-Tech’s complete inventory.

“The Equipment Finder is a great way for the customer to specify right down to the last

detail what they’re looking for out of used equipment for their projects,” notes Doug Brunet, general manager for Pro-Tech. “Yet it’s fl exible enough to enable visitors to view more alternatives.”

If a customer wants to request additional information on a specifi c piece of equipment, they simply complete an online form. A representative from Pro-Tech will contact them immediately.

The web site also allows the customer to sign up for ‘E-Tracker’, an e-mail alert system that notifi es subscribers about the availability of used equipment they may be interested in. This includes models recently taken in trade from Putzmeister that are already in stock or will be arriving soon.

We’ve added a new design to our S5 GH gas-powered rotor/stator pump. It now features a new hydraulic drive technology that stands apart from the rest. This technology offers the ease of fully variable volume pump output and a reverse pump feature to relieve line pressure.

The 18 hp S5 GH is primarily used for outside plaster and stucco, but is also favored for pressure grout, vermiculite, fi reproofi ng material, swimming pool fi nish and pipe line refurbishment. This 750-lb. model has a maximum pressure of 360 psi with a 1.5 cubic feet per minute output.

All Putzmeister S5 Series models feature our specially engineered Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) technology and adjustable rotor/stator pump. The combination of those two components allows longer life spans and the highest productivity levels in the industry. Check out www.putzmeister.com for the many other features that place this unit far ahead of the competition.

Already offering the ability to easily maneuver in congested job sites and urban areas, our City Pump line now offers even more features. Today’s units include a modular design, free fl ow hydraulics, a choice of pump cells and convenient accessory storage.

The simple design of our modular bolt-on fl atpack allows for cost-effective, minimally labor intensive pump cell upgrades, repairs or as part of a maintenance program. The free fl ow hydraulics offer smooth and effi cient pumping. Plus, a choice of pump cells is now available.

Designed for convenience and a streamlined look, the City Pump additionally offers ample accessory storage with standard side-load deck-mounted pipe racks and newly redesigned fold up side panels. The pipe racks accommodate 10 foot (3m) lengths of pipe. Putzmeister's City Pump line features three models: the CP 1409H, CP 2112L and CP 2116H.

An Innovation Award winner at the 2007 BAUMA show in Munich, Germany, Putzmeister’s new patent pending Steady End Hose is designed to minimize the effects of end hose movement, for safer and easier concrete placement. The award is given by Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau – a German Engineering Federation, one of the key association service providers in Europe.

Most end hoses used on a boom pump will react to uncontrolled pressure changes in the concrete with strong lateral defl ections. This usually occurs when air is trapped or a blockage is cleared. The Steady End Hose signifi cantly reduces these unpredictable and sometimes dangerous defl ections, helping prevent the most frequent cause of injury associated with concrete pumps. In the event of a blockage, the Steady End Hose dampens lateral defl ections and excess vibrations.

“The Putzmeister Steady End Hose is easier to handle than a traditional hose,” says Tom Inglese, general manager for Pioneer Concrete Pumping of Smyrna, Georgia. “It is made of a more rigid material which helps the hose man position the concrete with less effort. In the event of a sudden surge of concrete, the Steady End Hose is more controllable.”

Available in three- and four-meter versions with 25mm and 100mm internal diameters, the optional Steady End Hose may be purchased from the Putzmeister America Customer Support department.

A specially-designed reinforced fabric helps the Steady End Hose greatly reduce the movement often

encountered when pumping concrete.

EXPANDED FACILITIESIn July, Putzmeister Pro-Tech completed its 27,800-square foot expansion. Located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Pro-Tech, which restores truck-mounted boom pumps, Telebelts® and trailer-mounted concrete pumps to factory standards, enhanced its front offi ce and shop facilities as a result of the division’s growth in used equipment sales.

The expansion started in May 2007 and included a 1,800-square foot offi ce and 26,000-square foot plant expansion, bringing the total square footage of the Pro-Tech facility to an impressive 91,800 square feet.

An indoor showroom showcases select equipment, which is especially ideal during inclement weather when viewing outside is not an option. Plus, the recent expansion includes a new conference room to view all available Pro-Tech equipment via the company’s web site – www.pmaprotech.com.

Online viewing of our full range of available models in the new conference room will help customers see at a glance what Pro-Tech has in stock to fi t their specifi c project needs. Overall, the goal is to make used equipment shopping an enjoyable process for customers.

The Pro-Tech expansion includes an indoor showroom to showcase

Effective July 2, 2007, Putzmeister America offi cially acquired Allentown Equipment, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary within the Putzmeister Group. With over 95 years in business, Allentown is the industry leader in the design and manufacture of wet and dry process shotcrete equipment for underground, refractory and mortar industries. To refl ect the affi liation, the company name was changed to Allentown Shotcrete Technology, Inc., a Putzmeister Company.

The acquisition further expands the Putzmeister product line to offer the widest range of trailer-mounted gunite and shotcrete models produced in America, to the highly extensive line of track- and truck-mounted robotic equipment available from the Putzmeister Underground Construction division in Germany.

From their Allentown, Pennsylvania location, Allentown Shotcrete Technology will continue production of pressure tank guns, rotor guns,

rotary bowl guns, wet process pumps and high pressure pumps. Plus, due to their shotcreting expertise, Allentown will now become the focal point in handling major North American under-ground construction projects for the worldwide Putzmeister organization.

Dave Adams, Putzmeister America’s president and CEO has also assumed the role as CEO of Allentown Shotcrete Technology, Inc. Patrick Bridger, president of Allentown, will continue in this key role and report to Adams.

“We clearly anticipate mutually benefi cial growth opportunities,” notes Dave Adams. “Allentown will fully utilize Putzmeister’s worldwide technical, sales and marketing resources to promote the company’s shotcrete products on a more global basis. Concurrently, Putzmeister will benefi t from Allentown’s dominance in the underground and refractory markets to increase the level of our product exposure in these specialized fi elds.”

“We’re excited about joining the Putzmeister team. Although our business operations will remain virtually unchanged in Allentown, we’re anxious to begin our added role as the U.S. outlet for overseeing technical shotcreting projects in North America, and distributing applicable worldwide Putzmeister products here,” said Patrick Bridger. “This will result in the customer receiving the best equipment choice for their job needs — from tunneling and mining to refractory and repair work.”

In May 2007,

Putzmeister America,

Inc. assumed full

responsibility for the

sales, service and spare

parts of Putzmeister

concrete placing

equipment in Latin

America and the Caribbean (LACA).

This expanded scope in the LACA

region further demonstrates Putzmeister

America’s commitment of personnel

and service to meet the needs of our

customers in North and South America.

As a result, our growth aggressively

continues, with our new role expected

to benefit both LACA and North

American customers. It means added

opportunities to expand our product

line, extend our service capabilities and

develop more effective methods that

make it easier to do business with us.

In addition, by increasing our customer

base within the LACA market, we are

more strategically positioned to

maintain production goals during

cyclical U.S. market conditions. This

offers stability in retaining qualified,

experienced staff to consistently serve

your needs.

Plus, by hiring additional bilingual

personnel to support the LACA region

today, we will become organizationally

structured to accommodate future U.S.

demographics, whereby Latinos are

expected to constitute almost 25 percent

of the nation’s total population by 2050.

To assist in our endeavors, we held our

first Latin America distributor meeting

in October. This offered a platform to

build a stronger partnership, achieve a

clearer understanding of each market’s

local needs and develop strategic plans

that can positively impact all customers.

We, at Putzmeister America, now look

at our company name with a much

broader scope, as we literally have become Putzmeister of the Americas.
