PROBLEM DIAGNOSIS
Before, the public market was located at the busy town ofIndang which is very congested due to population growthwhich causes traffic due to lack of parking space. Also, thepublic market is very small to accommodate the growingnumber of locals and neighboring municipalities who purchasegoods.
The Municipality decided to look for a new location which isalso in Barangay Poblacion, located along the street of J.Dimabiling yet, parking spaces are still not solved, also, sanitation and storage.
Indang Public Market has a lot of opportunities due to thecompetition in the municipality and in neighboringmunicipalities. Since, the public market is only the source ofgoods in Indang, improvement of the market is recommendedfor inviting, satisfying locals and neighboring municipalities.
DESIGN CRITERIA
DESIGN OBJECTIVES
To design an iconic structure that will catch attention of the public
To design a facility that will provide a better circulation, accommodation and utilization of the users
To design a facility adapting to its location
To design a feasible facility
To design a functional space planning
DESIGN CRITERIA
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
FUNCTIONAL AESTHETICS: Form and Function must fight equally in a design
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN: Thrust on durability and Recyclable Materials
OPPOSITES ATTRACT: Combining Different and Paradoxical Materials
DESIGN CRITERIA
DESIGN PRINCIPLES
Functional and flexible space planning
A balance between the nature, the structures and open spaces
DESIGN CONCEPT
REJUVENATE
I believe that people who goes to market needs to feel calm, relaxed and having fun while shopping. Changing the perspective of the market will make people enjoy shopping in Market, which is the traditional way.

ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT
SPACE
ROOTS
Roots anchors the plants, supplyphysical support to the stems, absorbs nutrients and store foods, just like a market. A market is asource of nutrients, food andsupports the people to have ahealthy and livable life.
To answer Markets problem, through the roots, it will separategoods into their own categories forit to be organized.
SPACE
HEXAGON
According to Walter Christaller theCentral Place Theory is assertedthat settlements simply functionedas 'central places' providing servicesto surrounding areas.
This only means that hexagonalshape plan can give and provideservices to the surrounding areas. Itcan efficiently cover a uniform andplane field, minimizing the distanceof any particular location.
FORM
CITY PLAZA
In market, it is very crowded and people may feel uncomfortablebecause of the number of people who are going around the place.
Though the City Plaza concept, the market will look like a plaza forthe users to feel relaxing while they buy their goods.
FORM
STRUCTURAL CONCEPT
TRUSS
The top and bottom layers are ofan identical shape and arepositioned such that their planviews are coincident. Also, all theweb elements lie in vertical planes. The result is a double layer gridthat effectively consists of anumber of intersecting planetrusses. A grid of this type isreferred to as a 'truss grid'. A trussgrid may be regarded as a flat gridwhose elements are trusses.
UTILITY CONCEPT
UTILITY CONCEPT (Electrical)
SOLAR PANEL
The Panel will be usedon a sunny day, and wheneverthe sun is applicable, which isusually everyday.
This produceselectricity through the sunrays. Which is cheaper andeco-friendly for our MotherEarth.
UTILITY CONCEPT (Electrical)
RAIN PANEL
Since, the country has 2seasons only, which is the dryand wet season. the drops ofthe rain has the potential incontributing to the rain panelfor it to work and distributeelectricity during rainy days. This will be more effectiveduring rainy days.
UTILITY CONCEPT (Plumbing)
GREYWATER SYSTEM
The advantages of grey waterare it may lower water andsewage bills. Re-using grey watermay also be used in gardening. On the figure below, you will seehow the grey water is beingprocessed and used in abuilding. It takes a lot of effort tocreate grey water that will notharm the users.
UTILITY CONCEPT (Plumbing)
RAINWATER HARVESTING SYSTEM
Rainwater from rooftop should becarried down the water pipes tostorage. Before it will be stored in thestorage tank, it will go throughdifferent process. First flush, is a deviceused to flush off the water received inthe first shower. The first shower ofrain should be removed so thatcontaminated water will be aloof. Afteris filter, secondly it is important thatwater will be filtered for treatment ofwater to effectively removemicroorganisms.
UTILITY CONCEPT(Plumbing)
STEEL GRATESteel grate is any regular
spaced collection of identically, paralleland elongated elements. Usually, theseare used in drainage system that servesas a filter to separate water and any solidmaterial.
This will be used at the dry marketso that when water splashes down thefloor it will go directly into the drainage.
UTILITY CONCEPT (Plumbing)
UTILITY CONCEPT (Mechanical)
PASSIVE VENTILATION
It uses the natural forces of wind andthe stack effect by which air rises inorder to renew the air within thebuilding. Moist and stale air is extracteddirectly through ducting up to a rooftermination and then vented to outside. The air inside a property is normallywarmer than that of the outside air sorises naturally up the ducting carryingthe moistened content with it. Bypositioning the air inlets in the dry areathis provides a flow of replacementfresh air into the building.
UTILITY CONCEPT (Lighting)
POLYCARBONATE SHEETS
This is used for the rood, overhangs, and for lightings. Itprovides translucent plasticfeature which allows light topass through. In replace of glassthis is more economical andgives strength. It has alsodifferent colors which may beused in the design of thestructure.
UTILITY CONCEPT (Acoustics)
ACOUSTIC PANEL
Aside from controlling the sound in the market, it will also serveas a design for the ceiling.
